How many page views does it take to create $1 ?
Now; I realist that page views and hub revenue is not 100% directly proportionate, however I wondered what people found is generally the average revenue generated from a certain amount of page views, I have a rough idea it might be around;
400 pages views = $1 (On average)
Now this might totally be wrong, I wondered what you guys thought
What it really depends on is your CPM (cost per thousand). That's how much you get per thousand impressions. The CPM can change a bit, depending on what you write on etc. For me, my CPM varies a bit - sometimes as high as $10, usually around $5. sometimes its down around $2. Recently, I got 179 impressions and made exactly $1.02. I think my CPM was around $5.
I am pretty sure this isn't the case, but it sometimes seems like my CPM is higher when I have less impressions, making 55 impressions with high CPM almost the same as 100 impressions with moderate CPM. Anyway, hope this helps!
This is google analytics/Ad sense stuff? is hubpages earnings scheme different?
This is how HubPages earnings work as far as I know. Depending on what your hubs are about, HubPages places ads on them. For certain topics, advertisers are willing to pay more per impression. Thus you get varying dollars per views.
CPM doesnt apply since you're not measuring people who clicked on specific keywords to get to your hub. CPM is a specific term relating to advertiosing kweywords. for hubs, it's impossible to quantify, since there are many ways tio find your hub
What you earn on Hubpages is based on two things. Impressions and CPM (cost per thousand). If I get 100 impressions with a CPM of $5.20, then I earned $0.52. Go to Earnings, then earnings report, and you can see exactly your impressions/CPM.
those are for impressions of the AD, not your hub
Exactly, which is how you end up earning from hp.
Well idk that much about the CPM stuff.
But, I only have like 1800 views and made $5.75- that's with 23 published hubs. So every 313 views or so, I made a buck.
Some people have been on here a really long time, have had lots of page views and followers and have only made a few pennies.
The problem with page views on here is that at first (and always unless you optimize your hubs), you are only going to get other hubbers viewing your work, and they are far less likely to click on any advertising than say organic traffic through search engines like google. So it is near enough impossible to say how long it will take to earn $1. I have several websites and generally the click through rate on adds to earn money on them is like 5-10%, here I would expect it to be much lower because the type of traffic is totally different unless a hub is optimized and gets organic traffic, I would say literally 2-3% tops.
Then there is also the fact that on each one the cost per click is totally different, as different subjects attract different advertisers, all of which have a relevant value. An example is a hub/webpage on insurance may have ads that have a higher value than one on say a food recipe. One click on a valuable add could be the equivalent of 50 on pretty much every other one.
If you follow your adsense you will see the consistency in values and regularity in clicks often varies dramatically, until you get to thousands of views, then you will probably see more of a steady patter of like $2-$5 per thousand.
ah thats a really good point, it never actually occurred to me that some ad's would be worth more than others nor that some readers would be more likely to click
For HubPages earnings, I don't think clicks matter - that's only for Google Adsense.
It must vary a lot based on factors I'm not aware of, because I make $1 with about 200 page hits (meaning hub views.) I don't even bother with using ads unless it's good for the reader, as page hits alone pay well and ads really don't.
If anyone can explain this revenue-per-page-hit process further, or direct us to somewhere that does, that would be wonderful.
I can exactly tell you my number: in hit $1 in 6 days while about 350 people read my pages. Sign up for each earning program and try to promote your links on social sites and these will bring you enough readers even with about 10 hubs only.
About two years ago, Paul Deeds had stated it takes about 1000 impressions to make $2 -$5. This would translate to 200 – 500 impression to make $1. The impressions here were referencing Adsense. The good thing about that estimate, I believe, was that it was based on the entire Hubpages’ data sample which is very huge.
Normally I wouldn't comment on something like this but I want to thank the people who responded to this. The average here is seeming to hit 1000/2000 hits = about $5 (can sway a bit either way)
I have not been able to get any figures from anywhere else and now have a long term goal firmly established thanks to you all. Saved this page and am grateful!
I think it varies a lot, but fwiw, I find that if I divide my average daily traffic by ten, that's about how much I've made by the end of the month.
So, for example, 450 daily visitors will work out to about a $45 payout.
Obviously it depends on how related the ads are to your content and target audience, and how much you engage your reader and get them in a "clicking" mood.
it's ultimately meaningless - one person's report of clicks & earnings is just one snapshpot - no indication that will hold for the following month - this is an ongoing problem on HP - people claiming that views = earnings without anything to back it up -- here's some research i did on earnings vs views for recipes:

$0.50 in 360 page views. So hopefully 720 page views :-)
Mine is simillar to this but this is much lower than most other peoples here
Hubpages shows their ads most of the time and our adsense sometimes. $0.50 is what i got as my share from their earnings but i made over $5 from my adsense ads. So in total so far made around $5.50+ from hubpages :-)
Generally all of us says we earn $1 for 1000 views. But it could be differ all users.Read some more tips at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wloXA4TNVVY

Do HubPages use CPM or anything like that? How do they decide your earnings? Because I've been watching my earnings and views daily for a month or so and I can't find any link between two. I don't make much(.30-.60 a daily average) so it isn't hard for me to watch. And my page views are always...

My page views are inching upward, but my CPM is creeping downward. Is this common? The crux of my reason for asking is that I'm trying to be realistic in projecting the future earnings of my hubs, and I've kind of looked at a CPM of $7 as realistic, but now I'm questioning that as my page views...

I'm not sure if this is still the effect of the pandemic, or simply it is February. But I was pretty happy that my daily views are increasing to 300 per day. But after hitting a new high of 400 views, all I get is 0.33 dollar earnings. That was no different than my 200 view per day last September....

What is CPM? When looking at the hubpages earnings?
by Lena Kovadlo 6 years ago
This month my CPM for the HP Ad Program is super low. It's been under $1.50 every day so far. And last month I had a lot of days where it was under $2. Wondering why that is and if it's just happening to me or if others are experiencing this as well.
