Do you always share a new hub with your followers? How many of your own hubs should you share?
Is there a specific number of times that you should share your own hubs with the Share button?
Doesnt a new hub automatically appear in the feed for all of your followers? Are you referring to sharing the next day, or days later? I have only done this once, and HP sends you a message to let you know it is not recommended.
I wouldn't recommend repeatedly hitting the share button, as it would be like spamming your followers. Plus like drmark said, your followers get notified if you have a new hub and we can see it in your live feed.
At least theoretically, your new Hubs should go into the Feed for all of your followers. But, I'm not sure it is always a perfect seamless system. Not every new Hub from the Hubbers I follow ends up on my feed all of the time. One Hubber I follow (my son) has published a few new Hubs and the only way I know about them is because we talk about them.
As far as sharing your own older Hubs, I know HubPages warns this is not a good idea, but it is done. Check your feed when you see Hubs that are "shared by". On occasion you will see that the author is also the Hubber that shared it. (I have noticed some well established Hubbers do this).
I personally don't see anything wrong with this as long as you don't do it on a regular or frequent basis. Sometimes topics are seasonal, such as a Halloween Hub, and sharing gets the Hub back out there. Also, my early Hubs were only seen by my relatively few followers then. Now I have more followers and the newer followers maybe interested in a Hub they hadn't seen before. Finally, if you significantly improve or change a Hub, the only way your followers would see it is if you share it. (To share your own Hubs you have to ignore the HPs warning that pops up when you do this).
I thought my new hubs were automatically shared to my followers so I've never hit the share button. I've never shared my older hubs either I think if my followers weren't interested the first time then I doubt they will be interested a second or third time. I wouldn't mind my followers sharing my hubs though that way they reach a new audience.
I'm probably not answering your question directly, Carol, but I didn't know it was possible for one to share his or her own hubs via the Share button. I've experienced occasions when one of my followers will voluntarily share something I've written. I don't know why I thought this, but it was my assumption that most of my followers got word of any new hubs I'd written automatically--through a HubPages editorial email--and so pushing a share button would appear like overkill.
Like I said, I'm really inexperienced about these things and may be wrong in my assumption. By following this thread, I just might learn that I've long overlooked a viable strategy for making headway on HP.
Best wishes for continued success, Carol!
You're right, your followers are automatically notified every time you write a new Hub. Sharing with them is overkill, and is likely to result in people "unfollowing" you! Only share if you've made big changes to an existing Hub
I really thought it was okay to share...Will no longer do that...Unless on a rare occasion with an old hub that I want to revive. This has all been very helpful...
Thanks for the heads up, Marisa Wright, and for reinforcing my gut feeling. Kudos to Carol for having the courage to ask the question, and thanks to all for helping others learn how best to be good neighbors here in Hubsville.
Your followers are automatically notified, every time you publish a new Hub. If you then "share" with them all too, don't you think that would look a bit pushy?
To my mind, there's only one situation where you should share a new Hub with your followers: when you've made a major update to an existing Hub. There's no other way to let them know about that, so it's legitimate.
Carol...I just recently read a response to this same question, about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Someone was concerned about "sharing her own hubs," due to the statement that pops us, when you do this. The reply to her question, came directly from an HP moderator. There is no problem whatsoever with sharing your own hubs when ever and how ever many times you choose to do this. As the moderator said, "the alert was put in place to avoid an issue with something (I've forgotten now)....but the bottom line is that we can share our hubs with no worries at all.. Hope this answers your question. You can also Tweet your hubs.....so that Linda puts them in her "Sunshine Times." Good luck!
thank you so much for your response..So appreciated for you taking the time. I don't feel so badly now..I just shared once or twice a week but didn't want to overdo it.
As some others have said, there is no reason to share a new hub, as it is automatically shared. I have occasionally shared an old hub if I add something significant to it, or current events seem to make it relevant. Also, as my list of followers grows, there may be some who were not around when I first published the hub, so it may be their first look.
It's not a feature I use a lot, but I have used it.

Dear Precious Followers,I have, what some of you might see as a stupid question, but I need to ask it anyway. When I am ready to hit the "publish now" button on a finished hub, and I hit the "White H on black background" button to the left, do I get a notice from HP stating...

How many hubs of other writers should you share a day?Is there a number of hubs that is too many to share of other hub writers? I know we should not share our own often.

While I understand that hubbers might occasionally want to share some of their own hubs with their followers, it can be frustrating to see multiple 'old' hubs shared by their owner when looking at the 'feed'. I'd like to suggest that HubPages limits the ability to do this to a certain number...
