What makes you follow someone on hubpages?

I have seen all types of people's profile's and some people have tonnns or follower's and they barley follow anyone, some people are dead even. Some people even have a massive amount of follower's and don't follow anyone.. What makes you follow a hubber.

I follow someone if I read a Hub by them, and it shows we have some interest in common. I always read at least one of their Hubs, and make a sincere comment. Then I visit their profile page again if I have decided to follow. I expect they will do the same if they follow me. Sometimes even the answers are interesting, and then I will follow if I have visited their profile page and find it interesting. If people follow me without writing any Hubs, that is fine, but I cannot follow them, because there is nothing of interest for me. Also, if they follow me, but never seem to read my Hubs, I do not consider that a follow, so after a while I might unfollow. It is very important to keep up with people you want to follow. I don't like to think of it as a numbers game, but as getting to know other Hubbers, and making good friends.

I follow someone if their content is engaging, constructive and keeps me hungry for more. Recently (won't name names, but they know who they are) I've been following quite a few Hubbers because of how much they contribute to HubPages' extremely small video gaming community, and it's enough to encourage other writers to join this site. I also follow someone if they give insightful comments on my own articles, as well as if they're quick to reply on the ones I leave on their Hubs. I don't do follow for follow though; I'm a critic, not a sheep.

I find a lot of hubbers by random - they comment on one of my hubs, I read one of their hubs, or here answering questions, etc. Wherever I see their names, if they say something interesting, I click on their name to go to their profile. I know not everything they write will interest me, but if they write enough on topics I'll follow, I'll follow them. Right now, my follow/following rate is almost dead even. I don't know how it'll look in the future.

i usually follow hubbers who followed me first. Previously i used to follow hubbers that i like their hubs but that doesn't prove that they are following me. So, i read their hubs, leave comments and when they followed me, i followed back.

Nice I like that answer, but I think it's ok to be open to someone who doesn't follow you back if you like there hubs, (they could have too many followers to go through to follow) but yes it feels good to get someone follow you back, thanks.

I follow people who write about particular topics that interest me, and who display at least a minimum of writing ability.

I follow the hubs of those whose work I find interesting and that I will be inclined to read. I think it best to be a good follower to a few than to follow everyone and never have time to comment on their work. I focus on a couple of specific niches - subject areas that people are interested in and that also gets me followers because I have many articles of interest on those particular topics instead of 100 hubs on 100 different subjects.
