I was surprised when I heard from Scott Life that he had some hubs stolen and he did not think that Hubpages did enough to resolve this. This got me wondering if other people here had a similar problem. Thanks for any input for I would hater to find out about this the wrong way!
yes some of my articles have been stolen and I did research about things which I can do and made an article about it
the first thing to accept is that IT HAPPENS,,,,
Read the forums. Do a search in the forums and you'll find a lot of answers.
Since individual authors own the content that they create, it is NOT HubPages responsibility to defend those copyrights, as they don't belong to them.
HubPages can only take action on copyright violations that occur on their own site.
They are extremely helpful in that they provide info on when and where your Hub material was copied and offer a lot of help in telling you how to file the proper complaint.
If you need more help, I've got a Hub that discusses this. You'll want to read the section titled "Defend Your Original Content."

Thanks relache..I had read your hub before but did not remember the stuff on stolen hubs. By the way it is great hub to reread every now and again! to my knowledge this has not happen to me and I have not read of it happen very often and that is why I wanted to make sure what to do if it did happen. You are right, it is not hubpages responsibility, however it did not seem like hubpages to not to do anything...thank you, you cleared this up for me!
You can file a complaint with adsense and contact the copier and tell them to remove the stolen article. Beyond that there are many sites who have instituted software that disables a copier's ability to cut and paste from their site. I publish on some of these sites and have yet to have a single article stolen or copied in the past two years that I have published there. So there are things host sites can do.
Chances are Highvoltage if your article has any kind of success that it has been copied somewhere, and is even now being used by said copier. Google your articles and the first two sentences of content and see what comes up and where. This is happening daily.
Thanks for the heads up and info..I knew it was a possibility, I just did not know what could be done. Thanks Scott and once again I hate to see you go..you will be missed!
There are hundreds of thousands of hubs, articles, blog post and so on stolen every day. There are scripts out there called scrapers that read a site, copy all the content, then post it to other sites.
Some use a blogs rss feed to copy everything and put in on their own site. Many webmasters have thousands of blogs they populate with automatic rss feeds and scraped content from thousands of sites.
So your far, far from alone. It's really not worth the time to try to do anything about it. Chances are everyone's work is out there in hundreds of places. Sad but true.
I had a few copied hubs a while back, turns out that the site that was hosting my stolen article was hosting articles from others here too. With loads of complaints coming in to that site about their user stealing content and such that particular person got shut down. It may not always work out that well but writers here do seem to support each other by giving heads up when it looks like lots of our works have been nicked.

Hey folks. I'm a long time member here and an SEO guy by trade. I love this platform and want to support it. I've been digging into Panda data, and I have a few suggestions. Let's work together and 'right the ship!' 1) Start a brand new account today. Fresh content is what Hubpages needs. Google...

I just found that one of my Hubs was stolen in June 2014 and published in a magazine. I wouldn't have found out about it except that they have now put their magazine on-line. It was stolen by a slick looking magazine in Australia, and I am from the US. I told them if it wasn't...

Does anyone know if htere is a way to back up all my hubs in one go?If, as I think might be the case, I quit hubpages because to be frank all that stuff when you go to create a new hub is hugely overwhelming - take my poem, for instance, just went to publish a poem - just a simple poem and all that...

I found out this morning that this site had stolen at least 2 of my hubs. The more I looked, the more I noticed that it appears every single post on the site is a stolen hub, completely copied in most cases (including the authors' names and copyright notes, ironically). I see lots of names of...

Thanks to ThatMommyBlogger for finding this site and bringing it up in another thread. I think it deserves its own thread to warn HP writers. It looks like a site called 2uidea-dot-com is taking newly published hubs and putting them up as their own at a rapid pace. It appears they have filled their...
