Maven Key on Niche Sites

   I just noticed on my Owlcation article that the Maven key (logo) shows on the bottom left (desktop view). That's a pretty neat way to do it without changing the appearance of the niche sites. Nice job

      Oh wow! Thanks Lobobrandon. I found poetry under the Personal Writing category which links to Letterpile. I'm on Maven! Views are the same
      Edit: Would like to see poetry and fiction writing listed under 'Arts' though.

   That key is on all the niche sites. Maven is now listing links to all HubPages virticle niche sites from their search page.

      Yup, I do know about this, and I knew about the maven logo coming onto the niche sites. Didn't know when it was implemented though.

         No. Nothing top secret. Just most of us traveling back or some extended their stay and are still there. I'm just now getting a chance to sit down myself. For me, it was an awesome, inspiring experience and opportunity to network with other independent creators like us from all over the internet, not just HP, Maven, and Say Media. I'd be happy to answer any questions I can but in short, I think the big take away was that we (independents) are in jeopardy of being choked out by internet giants and if something isn't done will find it hard to survive in the near future. Maven is leading the charge. Having been to the conference I can say they've been quite forthcoming in the interviews regarding what the vision is. More pointedly, I am convinced that what is happening here is a good thing and that HP is not in the business of trying to hurt it's content creators. Exactly the opposite. They are trying to put us in a better position to succeed not just today but into the future. (Disclaimer: This is my take and I'm trying to nutshell 3 days worth of input in a few sentences on very little sleep. I hope folks won't scrutinize every word.)

            Good to hear the feedback thank you.  I think the one thing I wanted to know was whether those who have been invited have all been offered their own 'channels'?   Anyway glad you had a good time and I am sure we will hear more when you have all rested up and had time to take stock.

                  I do recall staff saying that very few people would be 'chosen' nevertheless I expect some of the best will be eventually.   Only time will tell.

                     I think a few were already invited? Didn't someone post on the forums a few months ago? I think it is mostly people who write a lot in one niche and of course with good stuff and traffic who would probably get the invite.

                           Check the forums. There was a long thread that included discussion about travel plans with several of us who were invited. It will give you a short list of some invitees.  There were many that went. I could not go.

               Thanks Dan. Actuality I was a wreck when I got home Saturday since I got home at 9AM, was awake on the entire trip, and my body clock still was on BC time. I’m glad we had a chance to meet one another.

         Yes, if you navigate through the categories, but some niche sites don't show up in a search. E.g. Dengarden and Owlcation. I can't find Owlcation under "Tech/Science" either.

   Typing the name of a niche site in what appears to be a search bar doesn't bring it up. Presumably this is work in progress.

   Dengarden seems to have been split up into several categories. The same with Owlcation under "Education - Academia". Turbofuture has retained its name under "Future Technologies".

   Have not looked into the details. Anyway, people are not going to be going there and looking for Owlcation or Dengarden. So I don't think it's much of a worry. My work is mostly on Dengarden and Owlcation so this is not me saying these two are not important sites.

   I just looked for the Maven key...yes, it's  there. I never would have noticed unless I read it here...I clicked it on and was sent to the Maven site...interesting. ;-)

    Back after a great trip meeting lots of folks.  As you can imagine with Maven, Hubpages and Say Media joining forces things are still developing and it is a work in progress. There are some exciting things happening editing wise that will hopefully help hubs rank higher.  I think in addition to what has been said, the other most inspiring thing about the conference was the opportunity to meet other hubbers and learn from them.  Everyone there had something to offer and more importantly they were willing to offer it.  It just reminded me what a great community HP is and I feel very lucky to be a part of it.  Still exhausted with travel, little sleep and time difference so hope this is at least somewhat coherent.  Oh and one other thing- Robin and Paul did say there will be other opportunities for other hubbers in the future so keep an eye out.

    I suppose I was the token "Jonah" on this trip. I started out with a delayed flight from Atlanta to Toronto and it got worse from there. Misplaced luggage, an inflamed disc from running through the airport for the flight to Vancouver, perpetual back agony, no appetite at all while there, 9 more hours at the airport because of icing in Toronto.....other than that, everything was great.

          The highpoint of my trip was getting to meet and spend time with you and other HP writers, Dan. I too enjoyed our discussions about things other than our in common writing. I'm sorry I was in such pain as to not spend much quality time with the hubbers I didn't talk with very long. I'm very glad you and the others didn't have to go through my ordeals and enjoyed the unique experiences provided by our hosts.
