I started answering questions a month ago on Quora. I have had nearly half a million views in that time, and my answers have been circulated at least two or three times a week in the Quora digest - sometimes sent to between 1 million to 1.3 million people.

I inserted a link in to once of my articles, and it had 25 hits. It was a minor post - one that didn't receive as many hits as other responses.

Has anyone else used Quora to direct traffic to hubpages?

Yes, I use it every day. I think I have only generated about 75 visits per day to HP, so it is not great compared to social media sites like Facebook or Flipboard. (Just checked yesterday´s traffic sources.)
It is a great way for me to learn and hear about other experiences though. I have seen a few writers over there from HP and it is interesting to read their other life experiences, things we would never write on HP.
(Not sure what your take is on it, but it does not seem like a waste of time like Facebook!)

I do receive a fair amount of traffic from facebook, but none of it is due to my posting links. It has more to do with other facebook users finding my stuff and sharing it.

This is actually the firt time I shared something of mine that led to more than one or two people clicking on a link.

        That's why I asked.

I the 75 links a day a link that you posted on a particualr day or a link or links you posted in the past that is still receiving traffic?

I'm going to do a search for you on Quora and check you out. Are you  Dr .Mark?

With half a million views you are surely making money from Quora itself.

How do I make money out of Quora? It's relatively easy to get that kind of viewing. I've been there 32 days. Almost from the start, I've had a lot of views. That's from answers - not from questions. Also, as is usual, because I live in South Africa, they don't cater to us. Medium as well.

Basically, it's never difficult to get traffic on a social network. It's difficult to get traffic on hubpages! smile And from selling books. Never understood that.

As you can see, I've had more than a 1/4 million view in the last week.

Yup, as I was saying - not eligible in South Africa.

You need to find a way around that.

I truly don't know how. I have a bank account and a stripe account in London but can't figure out how to use it.

I answer questions on Quora, but never left links to my work here. I have been asked to join their network. But they don't want me to answer questions and pay me. They want me to find more people to ask questions. So I said no. Plus the questions are repetitive and often dumb.

I was trying to figure out why they paid only people who asked questions. I guess a good question is hard to find. They have asked people who answer to become partners and pay them. It's the exception to the rule, though.

Maybe they will ask me... How often do you get your stuff into the Quora Digest. I thought mine was about two or three times a week, but it's actually more like a couple of times a day.

You are doing really great there and it looks like plenty of readers are learning from your answers. I would not worry about that partner program. Many of the questions I see on that site are just trash anyway, written by bots. "what is the best Italian restuarant in Cape Town?" and then the bot will ask the same question with all the major cities in the world substituted for Cape Town.
It looks like a lot of people are appreciating and growing from your answers, so if you do not mind wasting time with the site that is the best way to go. A lot of the people who have been invited to that program do not like it anyway, and the reason they hedge so much on how much they pay is because they pay almost nothing.
Anyway, I just write about my horses, my poultry, my sheep, and whatever else I feel like it. Not too concerned about being chosen. They claim that Brazil is on the list of participating countries but as far as I know they have only invited a few people from the US.

That's great. Thank you. What is your name on Quora so that I can follow you? I basically started writing on it as a means of SEO.

It is a good place to identify valuable keywords. Perhaps you should just use your insights as the basis of articles here.

What I am trying to do is get my name recogniseable enough so that if someone searches for a topic (or a book) I wrote about, then my article or book would be higher on the SERPS than others.

My name has been in predictive text for years but it doesn't really drive traffic.

So I was wondering if I had a high enough Quota ranking if Google would send traffic my way. After all, Quira must have a high PR ranking if it is coming up in searches as frequently as it does.

The other thing I am doing is putting in links to my articles and my books. Just don't know if the are no follow. I am also testing whether people click on the links or not.

Thanks Tess, you are a genius! lol! You told me to do it, and yes I re-joined. I didn't realise that I had been on there before. And yes I have more traffic!
