"I believe depression is legitimate. But I also believe that if you don't exercise, eat nutritious food, get sunlight, get enough sleep, consume positive material, surround yourself with support, then you aren't giving yourself a fighting chance."
-- Jim Carrey
I like the quote, but I do have one concern about it. The quote is probably true for many and perhaps most cases of depression, but not for all of them. Some cases of major depression are caused by specific physiological problems, such as certain endocrine disorders. These will likely need to be treated before a person can recover.
Great quote and great advice. In addition to this get active in a project or something and get out with people. However, if the depression is frequent or persists seek medical help.
Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors. He used to do stand-up and it was very funny.
Probably the most coherent thing to come out of that man's mouth.
Depression can also be caused by thinking negative and toxic thoughts over and over and over and over and over again. It can also be caused by constant self-condemnation, shame, and guilt. I was taught that if I feel depressed, I need to find out what I’ve been thinking about for the past three hours, three days, three weeks, and so forth.
Depression can also be caused by reaction to certain foods. What is one mans food is another mans poison.
All your feedback is food for thought. Thank you. There are so many healthy choices to overcome depression. Carrey is offering his. Exercise, eating well, and so forth are far better than psychotropic drugs.
As a mental health professional, I say . . . +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1!
If a person needs to get out with people and get active but don't have much money, do volunteer work. Volunteer work is great. I believe in it. A lot of good stuff gets done because of volunteers that would not get done otherwise.

"What fascinates me is that hardly anyone is wondering what we're actually doing on this planet. Most accept the work-eat-entertainment-sleep cycle as life and have no desire for a deeper understanding of our purpose in the universe."-- Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey’s "Lonesome Earl and the Clutterbusters". -wrote a song reference to Charlton Heston NRA statement, "I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands." The wording of one part of Jim’s song was “ he could not enter Heaven, as even the angels could...

Why do conservatives get upset with Jim Carrey?Jim Carrey is a has-been comedian who uploaded a short, Cold Dead Hand, which he said was a biting satire about guns and their supporters. We all know he's liberal, we all know that it's one-sided. He's also not respectful of Charleton...

I just saw anchorman 2 in theaters about a few weeks ago and i saw something that really pissed me off. Jim Carrey was in it. But it wasn't so much that he had a cameo in it, but he was in a scene that depicted a lot of violence in it. Now, I have no problem with violence...
