      You would have to do that in a photo editing program and then import the result as a single image. We can’t do it using the photo capsule.

            It's just a single image, so the photo capsule scales it so that the width of the image is the same as any other type of image.

      You can also opt for thumbnail view when placing photos in the photo capsule. This will place them in a horizontal row rather than a vertical row.

   Google Picasa is still available for download from some sites (E.g. MajorGeeks). It's a faster viewer for photos than the newer bloatware with all the bells and whistles and useful for making collages of two or more images.Otherwise just make a suitably sized blank white mage in a photo editng program. Then copy and paste images and drop them onto onto this blank canvas. Finally crop any blank spaces at the edges.

   Or you can organise more than one photo in a single photo capsule and select thumbnail (if there are three or more) and they will be shown next to each other for viewing  selection.

   It’s best to not waste your time organizing you images side by side. Most of our traffic is from mobile phones these days, and their screen is too small for multiple images placed horizontally.
   
   HubPages used to have the option for two columns several years ago, but they did away with that for the reason I just mentioned.

      I can remember all these now. But mobile friendly images inserted as thumbnail can be view each as a single image on a phone. I do frequently when reading articles that has thumbnails.

         Yes, that's correct about thumbnails. And they work well on mobile.
         
         But I was referring to organizing images side by side in a single image. That doesn't appear well on mobile since each image in the row is too small. 
         
         Using thumbnails is the best solution if you want to let the reader select each image to display.
