Mr. Rupert Taylor has written a magnificent article “A World of Territorial Disputes" which took my attention since it mentions the Dahala Khagrabari dispute involving my country, Bangladesh. For years the people living within these invisible territorial boundaries, a not so small number of 50,000 people, had no access to basic needs such as access to schools, electricity and health care. The dispute was finally resolved in 2015 through a bilateral agreement between India and Bangladesh. Please take some time to read this informative and interesting piece to know more about Dahala Khagrabari, the only third-order enclave that existed and also to know more about the other territorial disputes the world has faced.
Requesting Mr. Rupert to make a small correction in the Dahala Khagrabari section. Bangladesh declared independence from Pakistan on 26th March 1971 and achieved victory after 9 months of the war on 16th December 1971. The year has been stated mistakenly as 1972 instead of 1971 in the article.
Thank you for sharing, Mr. Rupert.

Yes, a very interesting article. I was particularly amused by the Danish - Canadian dispute.
Rupert is always digging into the achieves of history. This interesting article is a great write. But I wonder why the United Nations is so quite in such a dispute that can likely cause international tension.
Thanks Farah for bringing the read to our attention. And thanks Rupert for your a well written story.
Rupert's articles are always worth reading. He delves into a wide variety of subjects. These territorial disputes can be serious and deadly. It was fun reading about the one of planting a flag and leaving liquor as a token of ownership. Thanks Farah for sharing his post with us.
