I was messing about with fonts and made this. I was trying to get a gold colour. There's a slight amount of drop shadow on the "M".

Maybe some branches? Not this branch but something more curved? I lightened the gray.

Yes, I like my gold though. It would go well with your light brown header.Ii'm looking for more branches. Some are only for free not commercial use. Can you colour that M?

Just had a look at it on Medium. I think that twirly bit on the M is a bit OTT. If it was me, I would just go for a similar script "M" without the heart bit. On laptop, unfortunately I can only barely makeout the flowers. I wonder how it would look with the light gray replaced with the same colour as the header? I think we need more opinions smile

I don't think I understand your strategy or what your trying to do on Medium, so I've hesitated to comment.

If you want feedback, I would say that "A writer who wants to make her mark on this crazy world" is not good.

Readers want to know what you can do for them. They aren't usually very interested in the writer's aspirations.

If you're on a site like Medium, the assumption is that you're a writer, you don't need to tell the readers that.

How does this description of yourself relate to reviewing face mists? I don't get it.

            1. Misbah786 profile image83
Misbah786posted 23 months agoin reply to this

I sincerely appreciate your honest feedback, Paul. I think you're right, I need to change the description. My problem is that I write on a wide range of topics, including personal essays, beauty, psychology, history, poetry, spirituality, recipes, and everything in between. I mentioned all that in the about section but I think I need to fix the description. Do you have any suggestions for a decent description? smile

I don't sorry. It's not clear to me what you're trying to do.

Why did you create a publication?

Who are you trying to target with it?

Are you planning to put everything you write in the pub, regardless of topic?

                1. Misbah786 profile image83
Misbah786posted 23 months agoin reply to this

Yes, I want to include everything, regardless of topic.

                  Maybe this:

‘Misbah is obsessed with writing about anything that piques her interest. Some of the topics covered in this publication include personal writings, beauty, psychology, history, poetry, spirituality, and food.’

                2. Misbah786 profile image83
Misbah786posted 23 months agoin reply to this

Maybe I can use this as a description, to keep things simple:

This publication covers a wide range of topics, including psychology, fashion, lifestyle, poetry, personal essays, food, and spirituality.

                3. eugbug profile image95

Aren't "face mists" part of the holistic lifestyle experience for women? Or maybe even us gentlemen? And I presume we're all trying to make a mark on the world through our writings. Well at least we may egotistically think that what we say is important.

To give you a ballpark, I'd say I'm earning about 50 times more on Medium than I ever did on HubPages. Earnings can vary, hinging on interaction and content. Medium champions stories (preferably personal stories) over 'evergreen' articles. Took me a bit to grasp the nuances: HubPages is a content farm, while Medium feels more like a classy magazine. They're apples and oranges, really. smile

I get that, but what does that mean exactly.  Tess said she was making $60K a month.  Are you in that range?

            Same question to Jodah.

What are we talking about and how many articles do you post a day/week or month.

No law against posting Medium earnings over here!

Misbah786posted 11 months agoin reply to this

I won't lie. There's nothing like $60K a month; whoever says that "lies."
I mean, you can't make that sum of money anywhere online. My brother was a software engineer; he used to make a maximum of $ 8-10k/ month by selling his software to100s of people online. How can you think rambling online could give one such a profit?

              1. Jodah profile image90
Jodahposted 11 months agoin reply to this

$60,000 per month lol. Your question was who makes more on Medium than HubPages? Mediums’s CEO Tony may make that. I am continuing to write on HubPages as well as Medium as they both cater to different audiences… HubPages external, Medium internal.

I have a home & garden publication with around 30 articles. My aim was to persuade people to read articles on it, but so far no one visits it despite lots of promoting on social media. I get on average two reads per day on 146 articles. It's not a platform really for the sort of stuff I write about, but I thought the content might be a distraction from the more high brow stuff on Medium. I haven't given up yet. Meanwhile Medium lists me way down the list of publications for some reason.

So I am still wondering what 50 x HP earnings actually means.  What kind of money can be earned on Medium, if Tess's earnings are to good to be true. Inquiring minds want to know.

  18. Solaras profile image95
    Solarasposted 10 months ago

I'll say that after having not written anything in a year over here on HP (except what I posted this weekend) I am currently earning enough to cover the power bill (in Georgia in June), auto insurance, health insurance, cell phone and Internet.

That can mean many things to many people, but what I want to convey is that I am finding HP pretty helpful for the first time in a couple of years.

Edit: Of course I know that can change at any moment in time, and will.

  19. Jodah profile image90
    Jodahposted 10 months ago

HP can offer passive income and we can keep earning even though we are not currently writing here. Medium, on the other hand, requires you to keep writing regularly (at least two or three articles a week if not more) if you are to earn a steady amount.
