If you do, where and with whom do your share it? Is it important for you to share it?
You can share links to them in your profile description on HubPages, as well as social media etc. When first published I spent some time sharing them. I rarely bother now.
Ok. I share it after publishing every article, since the purpose of my writings mostly are to share knowledge and something good with people. So I kind of enjoy that part as much, let it be sharing my story telling videos of Youtube or articles from HP.
Yes, I share my evergreen articles on Twitter if a particular topic is trending. On Facebook, I’ll share a newly published article for friends and family. I mostly share my articles with my clients as part of the counseling to provide more information on the issue being addressed. I also post sometimes on Pinterest and LinkedIn.
The burning question is: Does it help to increase views? Not much. However, I did share an article on the chat at a webinar I attended last week and got a nice bump for which I was grateful.
Oh! That's nice. While I do share my published works on Twitter, FB and Instagram, I've never tried my hands on Pinterest and LinkedIn though I have active profiles in both.
I don't usually get much views on hub page even if I share my article
Unless you plan on editing your articles so that they are moved to an appropriate niche site then they are not going to get many views. Go to the appropriate site and look at the articles there. How is yours different? (You can do a lot to improve reader interaction, use headers to get more search engine attention, etc. If you want to succeed here you need to read up on SEO.)
Yea, I share on Twitter and facebook...because hubpages required of it. Nonetheless, What's important is organic traffic from Google. Prior to pening the above,, I'm curious of who you. So, I take time to visit your profile. And, I like the story about the real time Indian Avenger who killed General Dyer, while in retirement. What the general did back then was very wrong, and senseless. Did the British government condemned him in regards to this vi6lent act? Singh, was a real lion heart. Sending 8 years in prison, and then working his way to the kill? What a real man he is! Had he some background para-military training, he wovld draw an escape plan. Thanks for a nice read.
It's a pleasure to share. Yes, he was one of the bravest and strongly commitned. Formal apology was made, but in general and not specific to particular inhumane acts which are countless.
Thanks for reading and review.
I seldom bother to share it. One might get one or two reads, but I find that pretty worthless. I depend strictly on the power of my words and writing for people to read (not on Hubpages, though). On Hubpages, I used to focus on SEO.
Ok. I do agree with writing part. However, I frequently garner around 50-100 views in 1-2 days initially through sharing on various platforms. It helps navigate some traffic, which is also helpful to get it further up on Google Search, even if by little bit. And some of the new ones even join HP and become frequent readers.
One more thing, I would like to share over here.
I started writing on HP around 10 years ago. Back then there were no Discover or niche sites. After the shift, which I wasn't aware about since I had paused in between, only a handlful of articles (under 10) were on Discover and Letterpile. However, after sharing a couple of articles from those recently as they were properly researched upon and written like the one on Cloaking experiment, I was able to garner some views, and observed that it was now shifted from HP to Discover.
Again, this was not paid promo but sharing on SMs. Hence, I was able to get around 40-50 views only. But this change came as a surprise and want all the ones reading this to give it a try with their stale articles. We put our blood and sweat into it. Don't let it go to waste.
PS. I am not undermining the role of work and rework on articles to get them onto niche and importance of SEO.
I think you are correct. Even if he does have a brief surge it does not matter to Google (may move you from page 5 to page 4?).
@Tess: Luck may be one way to describe the various ways we try countless times with countless methods and some of them to click.
@DrMark: I consider that a small win.
Good attitude! Small wins in life are great.
My theory is that no matter how good you are as a writer, there is a wild card in there somewhere. The piece one write suddenly became relevant - in the news, or something else. So people search for it, and one goes viral, and all sorts of people notice one, and then one has people who come back to read more.
I say that because that's more or less been a pattern for me. That luck is essential.
I agree. But unfortunately, I haven't hit that sweet spot yet. So until then, I will continue to do everything that can help me reach the maximum audience along with trying to make my writings SEO-friendly.
Good luck. I really do believe, that given one is a half-way decent writer, most of it is just blind luck. And, of course, the more you do it, the luckier you get.
You can share on social media.
If earnings are your thing, though, be aware that social media views earn less than search engine ones, which is one reason why most people interested in revenue are primarily focused on Google.
Social media can also produce spikes in traffic that look very good, but disappear quickly. Search engine traffic tends to be more sustained and reliable.
My experience is that it's best to share with social media in a fairly restrained way, do it when you first publish the article, and after that do what Jan does, generally just post when the topic's trending or particularly relevant.
Yup. I usually share whenever I publish, for a day or two. But not for long. Just to spread the word around. However, I wasn't focusing on the trending part. It sounds good. I'll give it a try sometime. Thanks.
I've had mixed results from sharing over the years. I've gone through spates where I've spent a lot of time on it, but in all honestly, I feel like I've often done as well doing nothing and letting the readers share my stuff!
If you write interesting and informative articles, the readers will share your material.
I agree. How about giving them a small survey to fill in, with one of the questions about indirectly asking them to share?
I've tried it with my recent article, but haven't shared on SM or anywhere else as of now. But will be observing the proportional response to that when I share with a request to answer quick survey questions.
For the works you publish on Hubpages...definitely share them.
It helps you get more views.
There are several groups on Facebook you can join which allow you to share your work.
Any social media is fine and be sure to out a few tags on them.
As far as other published work...it depends on the publisher and their requirements.
The problem is that if you share your articles on a social media site frequently, you risk annoying readers who see them in their feed. This could have the opposite effect from the one that’s desired. A balance is needed.
Tis true...but most of my followers are writers.
I do have a poetry group where anyone is welcome to share their poems
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1017041 … group_link
Alot of groups won't let you share , but there are some which do.
Also short stories etc.
Margaret Minnicks also has one

I never share my articles. I tried all kinds of things years ago, but nothing really mattered. The time spent managing social media accounts was not worth the little traffic it brought in.
Social media shares are important, but I realized the shares that move the needed are coming from viewers who organically find and share my work. So, I put my effort into making the best articles I can, and if readers think they are worth sharing they will do so.
I guess every writer needs make that decision for themselves. In my opinion, on a site like HubPages, you are better off using your time making your content the best it can be.
That'd be true about sharing on any site. And also, the content details and manner matter. So I'm writing, learning and evloving.
Hello, everyone.
In addition to the question nisargmehta put forward, i'd like to ask if sharing an article is just the link alone or we are permitted by Hubpages to share the whole content.
Also, most Facebook groups do not like link sharing but, informative contributions there on the Group.
Thanks.
As a general rule, you shouldn't share more than a short, single paragraph of content, and you should make it clear that it's a quote and state your source along with a link to the original, when possible.
There are all sorts of potential issues that arise when content appears in more than one place online, including legal ones.
Google will also "punish" any content that it believes (rightly or wrongly) to be copied.
Sharing a link has none of those problems.
I wasn't aware about that part of Google. That's brutal! hehehe!
It's preferred that you create some intruige while providing highlights to what your article contains. So formulate summaries accordingly, and share them with the link. This is getting me good response from SM.
Also create or join groups which frequently share content about your niche and allow sharing links. Most of the groups, I'm in does. If they don't, it's their loss, as I move on to others. I'm neither related nor married to any of them. lol
Nope. Never have. Never will. I don't think that's the way to get readers.
I do, sometimes, as a courtesy to those who follow me on Facebook, post an occasional article, but that's about it.
I find that, if the article is good enough, it will be shared by others.
You stated from the point of view of the readers. The question is, do you share your work?
Oh. I see what you mean. No, I don't. Maybe sometimes on Pinterest but haven't done so for ages. I haven't even got a FB account.
However, occasionally a reader will share one on FB and views rocket... for about a day. It's very transitory.
Ok. I haven't tried my hands on Pinterest with articles. I prefer to share on FB and Twitter when it comes to articles and Insta, FB and Twitter for my Youtube channel.
I have only shared twice for the past 12 years. The challenge of sharing is only one or two will bother to click the link and read.
I write, publish it, wait and see, re-edit it, wait and see, add some info, wait and see, redo the article; and the cycle continues.
And it has paid off.
Ok. While I do lattter too, I share a lot more when my article is initially published and cleared QA. I do get some readers, as on Twitter, I've stumbled upon a community of writers. Few of them have even signed up as well. And sometimes, we do cross reading, as I love to read too.
I admit, it doesn't bring too much in terms of views or revenue unless when it's shared by the readers, but it's fun to intereact, read and give and get feedbacks for recent works.
Reading through the comments confirms what I suspected. Most of the experienced writers here are like me and don't focus on sharing as a big part of their strategy.
They're more concerned with getting their articles onto the niche sites and making them as high quality as possible. That way they get more search engine traffic.
A lot of traffic provides the potential for more readers (rather than writers) to share the work.
For sure, it depends on your motivation. If you write poetry, aren't too concerned about earnings, and value social networking, then it's a different matter.
However, if you prioritize consistently high levels of traffic, the source is virtually always Google, not social media.

Do you have an external blog that you link to your hubs? Do you write articles for an online magazine? And is it recommended to specialise in one or two areas - and connect a blog to these hub topics?I receive bursts of traffic when I promote my hubs on social media but I am looking into other ways...

Hubpages Weekly suggests this, but they haven't shared all our articles on their socials, only a small selection.Maybe they can open up their Pinterest boards and make them shared so we can pin our articles on them.
