I have been on this platform for about two and a half years; however, unlike most of you here. I have not been doing my keyword research just right. Do you mind if we discuss how to do keyword research?

      Hello!

If you are intending to only write poetry here, then worrying about keywords is probably unnecessary.

For one thing, keywords are generally intended to guide people searching for specific advice or answers to our articles. Since your articles are poems and not practical pieces about subjects people are searching for, that function is dubious at best.

For another thing, inserting keywords into your poems would mean the art and technique of your craft would be compromised, correct?

If you intend to change the direction of your writing, then keywords might be relevant. Of course, you would need to master an entirely new form of writing here.

      Hope that helps!

I would recommend reading the HP guide in the help section. There is a lot to learn.

Congratulations on having so many poems on LetterPile! I think if you want to add keywords to articles, it might be best to add them to articles other than creative writing ones. Useful articles that help people may attract more readers than poems.

Keywords don’t necessarily serve any purpose with poetry. However, if you write educational topics that provide answers to search queries, then keyword research would be useful for SEO purposes. As for your poetry, you’re doing fine since many are on Letterpile, so just keep applying your creativity as you’re doing.

All the writers here have advise you well. Take them at their words.                                                 I may add that doing key-word-research to get organic traffic or readers landing on your page is hard work.

Actually...it does help to search your title with keywords.

Some people think poetry isn't as important, but they are incorrect.

The title of a poem will be used on Google's platform...so try using ubbersggest or some other SEO if you want to try to get your work ranked by Google.

        Hello!

Yes of course poetry is important! One time through "Dulce Et Decorum Est" by Wilfred Owen should prove that.

But the OP's original concern was whether she was doing keyword research right. I would think that if an author writes poems, then inserting or emphasizing keywords would turn the creative process sideways. However I do not have the depth of literary scholarship or the discipline to be a true poet!

          Greenmind...
The research for poetry is quite different.

One only needs it for the title and perhaps the article introduction.

Keep in mind that this is only to satisfy Google, but oftentimes it interferes.
For as a poet...you usually know what you want your title to be but if you want it to rank...you tweak it a bit.

No one would dare try using keywords inside the poem itself.

Yes that does make sense! I can see where people searching for poetry about, say, unicorns, would be more likely to find what they're looking for if the poet had used the word thoughtfully in their work.

Thanks for the clarification. I am learning something from this thread!

Actually it even helps if they are not specifically looking for poetry...if it is named good.

Then your piece might pop up in between other things like short stories or songs.
