I have accepted the many ads/banners, etc. throughout my articles. It is a distraction, but my hope is that an interest in the content, keeps the reader focused. Now, I am seeing, flashy click bait of other writer's articles in between my Title and introduction photo.
Not cool. I don't want it there any more than I would want my article to come between another Writer's Title and introduction photo!
Why?

I was reading an article on HP today that contained a recipe and partway through the list of ingredients were advertisements to other HP articles.
They can't, at the very least, wait until the dish is in the oven, fridge, ready to eat, whatever..... before coming in with the ads!?!
I can boldly say 'not cool' too. And that hubpages is still in a mess. My only hope is that if the new.New . Chief Executive, Silverstein, can turn things around. Then, only then it'll be cool and ncouraging.
She's the Arena CEO; she won't care about HubPages. It's a tiny part of their operation.
If it were important to them, they'd make sure the contributors (us) were taken care of. They are just squeezing the last bit of juice from us.
I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one that didn't like this insertion of links to take my (few) readers away from my work. Sad times.

It does hold true with my articles be they poems or informational that the ad/video appears. Ugly? Yup! Intrusive? Yup!
The articles on Discover has a kind of a slide show with a 'Read More' link that takes you to the displayed article.'
My articles on LetterPile have a video about LetterPile in that spot. But, from what I can tell there is not a link taking you somewhere else. I may be wrong.
I wonder what happens if you turn off ads? I'll go look later.
Agree with you— With so many ads already, and so many other writer’s articles, it’s annoying, distracting and frustrating.
Why not put every other thing at the end of the article?

Or something comparable to that!
A couple of ads thrown in for dog food, upcoming writing contests/challenges, political contenders....

I actually don't mind the placement of ads for other writer's articles. It IS distracting. No doubt. But sometimes something does catch my attention and I make a mental note of it as I continue to read, and go back later to read on.
At the end of the day, if our articles are engaging enough, while any ad placements may be distracting, it should not ultimately deter the reader from wanting to continue to read the article they came for.
It's like watching something on TV. If the show is interesting, it doesn't matter where or how many ads go between the start and finish, you're going to continue watching the show regardless.
I have gotten to where I am streaming old news, can't watch it live, with several stories going on all at one time, in the corner, to the side, scrolling across the bottom.... it's sensory overload!
I feel as if that's our reader's experience when attempting to get through an article!

I have just noticed the same, AB. I agree with your thoughts on it, and am not impressed. It can take readers away from our articles before they have even read them.
Yes! If HP must --- then put them halfway through, (which I am not a fan of either) but at least our articles are given a fair chance to compete.

Not cool. Not cool at all, abwilliams. It's a video on my Delishably articles, advertising recipe articles, positioned just as you said. I didn't see it on my PairedLife or LetterPile articles. But there's a big white space there ready for the insert! Looks like their trying anything to increase more views overall, at our individual expense.

Many issues liked to this discussion had prevent me writing new stories regularly. Otherwise, I would scribe down 2 or 3 reads per week. Then let go and relax. Now I watch my timeline and hubpages forums for a thread or any discussion topic. That kept my mind and brain engaged. Sorry HubPages, you're 'here to stay' but 'fallen and cut down'.

I've noticed this as well. The links are noted under the word, Recommended...without the name of the author. So the reader cannot see who actually wrote it.
One more note...
You will probably see your work inserted into other author publications as well. I checked a few publications on LetterPile not written by me, and sure enough, there are "Recommended" links to my work inserted into someone else's poem, story, etc.
Is this being done on Letterpile alone? It should be apply to the other Niches as well. Seriously, methink this is liable to increase traffic?
So, it is a nice method of showcasing good articles among the audience. Genuinely interested people would like to compare stuff and make decisions.

I've noticed that advertisement or links are being placed in between the lines of a poem or haiku verse. This is very distracting to the reader and disrespectful to the creative writer. Has anyone else had concerns about this?

LetterPile, as best I can figure from the examples shown and the subcategories, is only for original works of creative writing, such as short stories, poems, memoir essays, and so on.
