I just came across this news article: … /index.htm

Thought I'd share since some of you write for AC.

Hopefully they will make it a worthwhile platform once again. I think there are a lot of good writers who would contribute if they could make more than eleven cents per article.

I'm still a member there but haven't published anything there for a while.  Sorta like Helium in my view with some of the same type bullies running the forums.  Mostly women who jump at any criticism of AC at all.

Perhaps Yahoo will clean the place up a little and change the crummy pay scale.  Who knows, but it would have to go a ways for me to prefer AC over HP.

      $100 million?

That would mean that HubPages is worth a billion dollars.

I posted one thing once at AC. Then I found HP!

I removed all but the exclusive rights articles from there about a year ago.  They have the bitchiest women on the forums of any content site I know of.  And that is saying a lot since I once wrote for Helium.

I have just finished reading the forums on AC.  The contributors there are shocked and no staff member will address their concerns.  The final sentence in the statement made by Yahoo states they will close the site soon.  Perhaps to reorganize but still it scares the writers there.

Get ready for an influx of new writers here!

I don't think much will change with pay scale.  If anything, this was a reactionary move to AOL's current activity with Seed and Demand Media's activities as well.

There had been some changes just a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe not to the pay scale, but I was too busy focusing on the fact that I'd no longer get any payments from them.

What changes took effect a few weeks ago?  They just sent me a payment for my few remaining articles on the site several days ago.

What reason did they give for not paying you anymore?

I am in the same boat as Darkside being Australian, since about 3 months back, AC changed their payment system and now only US citizens get payments from AC these days.

      Yeah really.

Actually, my biggest problem with AC back then was they wouldn't accept my political rants. That effectively ended our relationship. Don't think I ever went in their forums.

I'm not surprised teh writers are scared, Yahoo has a pretty stady track record of buying companies, running them in to teh grounds, and then dispanding them.
