The first version of the HubPages iPhone Application has just hit the App Store.  It's primary features are the HubPages Feed, the Hub Hopper, Comment and Fan Mail Moderation, and the ability to check your Hub Stats.  It's 100% free.  You can find out more about it by clicking on the image below.  As usual we'd appreciate any feedback you have, as it will influence what changes we make in the next version.

Secondarily, we've also just added the ability to flag HubPages profiles.  Please use this to alert us to profiles that contain inappropriate content or are otherwise violating the HubPages Terms of Use.

Just the other day I was looking to see if there were a way to report a profile, so I'm glad to see there is (not that the situation has arisen all that often).

I just posted to the "report a problem" thread.  It's not working on my iPad.

We're looking into it, thanks.  An app optimized for the iPad is a little ways down the road, but the iPhone app should work on the iPad soon.

      Hi Relache,

Thanks very much for pointing this out.  I am working on it now.  I will post on this thread when we have fixed the iPad issue.

mine neither. it installs right away but when you click it, there's just an empty black icon, so i uninstalled it only because i want to reinstall it when it gets up and running. great idea and i can't wait to use it!

i second that. i think it makes us look like kindergartners but that's just my opinion.

Is this proprietary to the iPhone or can a blackberry use it too?  What about an android?

In my opinion "flag HubPages profiles" makes every Hubber look potentially suspect, when the purpose of the profile page is to give them an opportunity to make themselves look good. One of the few places on HubPages where hubbers can freely promote themselves.

While I see that this may convenient for you, I think it almost invites trigger-happy Hubbers to seek out their competitors to flag.

Yes, a flag is only something for you to review, does not harm in itself, I know this. However, the feature does not look good at all on profile pages.

What if you hit the button by mistake?  Is their a failsafe?  I agree, It's like AOL and their spam button.  A lot of people would flag the email as spam when they just wanted to delete it.

We do not take action against any user simply based on a user flag.  Every flag is reviewed by a moderator, and we only take action where appropriate.

Most iPhone apps work for iPad. My dad has one and hasn't had any problems with his transferring over. ??

Either way, makes me want an iPhone... Not really.

Are you guys working on an app for WebOS? Or should I get the new HTC android and download from there when that app is available? (Kind of just want an excuse to get the EVO, but would like to stick with my Palm. Ha)

larryfreemanposted 12 years agoin reply to this

        Hi Whitney05,

Our app will soon work with iPad.  We've figured out the issue.  We're doing final testing today.  We will get an update out to the App Store very soon.

We may support Palm in the future.  We haven't made a decision on that one yet.  Once we get everything working on iPad and iPhone, then Android is next.

I would suspect that after Android, we will be working toward Blackberry and Palm but it is still a few months down the road before we make that decision.

        Cheers,

        -Larry

Would be nice if I could use it with my samsung solstice. Maybe a version of it can be coded to go on all smart phones (like accessing gmail, its a small little application that connects directly to inbox). But of course it would connect directly to hubpages.

        Hi Thranax,

I'll add Samsung Solstice to the list to consider.  Any decision to support it will probably come down to the number of HubPages users who are coming to the site through Samsung Solstice vs. Blackberry vs. Android.

        Cheers,

        -Larry

Oh, no he wasn't selling anything. In fact, he didn't even know he was on there. As I said, on the HP iPhone app description on iTunes, one of the sample photos of the app was a screenshot that showed a comment he made in the Forum. I was jokingly telling him to take a picture because his response was about how his 15 minutes of fame had come. I think we were both being facetious about it anyway.

No worries man. I was actually surprised that HP *didn't* have an app on iTunes, considering the whole point of the site is to get traffic to it. There's a good chance that a lot of people have discovered HP through the app store now.
Also, the app works fine on my iPhone, it's actually pretty well built too. It does more than I had expected.

I have downloaded this App on my iPhone and it is wonderful! Whew! I am very impressed! Hub Pages is really out there! Congrats people on a great App! And my boss just gave me a Backberry for work - so an App on my Blackberry will really make me so happy! Now I have no excuse for being away from Hubs at all! The future is in Smartphones that have wifi! Just another great reason for having a wifi - compatible mobile phone!

Thanks for this, Paul, Larry and all the Hub Pages People!

I thought you were asking about the "Threaded" forum display.  In this display, the "edit" button is found by clicking the "more" button.

Are you asking about the mobile app?  Sorry, if I misunderstood.   The mobile app will support the "edit" function for forum posts in the next release.
