I read lots of posts about hubber scores and mine is fluctuating by five etc
As a newbie does it actually matter? Will having a higher score have a massive difference on search engine traffic. What are your views hubbers?
Not one bit. I've watched my hubscore fluctuate for almost 2 years now and haven't ever gotten it figured out. I've finally come to the conclusion that the hubscore algorithm was originally designed so well that it came alive...and now it lives just to spread mayhem and confusion. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows
I am fairly new here. However, I must say that I feel somewhat disappointed because I suspect that the hub score gives a lot of weight on the number of chats you do on the forum, instead of the quality of the hubs. When a new hub gets a lot of traffic, it seems to have improve the score, too.
Hey Charlinex,
You are correct in one aspect of what you said- hub score increases based on traffic, either from outside(generic) traffic or from internal(HubPages), but it has nothing to do with earnings.
Your hubscore I think has something to do with your ratings on google but im sure the others will inform you better than I do However I dont pay any attention to mine
It's simply a conditioning tool HP uses to keep you active and involved.
I think it's a way of keeping you obsessing about performance. Why do some hubbers' get such great scores? They're not that brilliant at writing are they? Dam, they are huh. I am told that as your score goes up so does the powers that be's interest in the content of your hubs. Mind you, conspiracy theories abound. Paranoia seems to go hand in hand with publishing hubs. Not that I take any notice of scores, dear me no. Publish and be dammed! The scores that intrigue me are the astoundingly low ones.
I have to admit a fascination with the very low scores. I always have to go look
Hubscores and Hubberscores(authorscores) are irrelevant, except for an ego boost.
The number has no relationship to earning or earning potential.
its works for mental boost and also give a quick overview of your performance and quality to the fellow hubbers.
The first year I was hubbing I didn't even participate in the forums or answer any questions, but I scored well and made decent Google earnings (still do).
I believe that you should write about things you love or are in the process of researching because you're interested in them. People like to read well-researched hubs, and they'll usually score higher with Google if they are unique. My "Maple Tree Problems" hub does great on Google, but I didn't plan it that way; it was just an interest of mine that captured other people's interest.
Good luck with your future hubs!
A really high hub score means you are not doing something right. Hubpages lowers your score for linking to other (money) sites, clickbank or other sites where you can make money. Hubpages wants your visitors to stay here on hubpages and make them money (not necessarily you). Look at the high money makers here who have other sites and other sources of income. They are using hubpages to make money other then hubpages using them to make money. You only need hubscore above 80 for dofollow and that should be your only concern.

My hubber score is not rising despite all activities prescribed by the hubpages.Average of my hubscore is increased a lot. Traffic has gone doubled. Backlinks to my profile page and hubs are also increasing. My forum participation is well and I am at the top position in this forum thread. My fan...

I have seen a steady decline in my hubberscore in the past few weeks. My score was in the 90s some time back and it is in the 70s now!? I have also noticed that individual hub scores of my hubs are at all all-time low. For example I have never had a hub with a hub scores below 55. And now some of...

I'd like to suggest we get rid of Hubber Score - and perhaps even Hub Scores. They:- are constantly misunderstood;- cause a lot of upset and grief in the forums; and- encourage newbie Hubbers to direct their efforts in entirely wrong directionsFor instance, I've known newbie Hubbers stop...

To those with decreased hubscores as a result of the new hubscore updates, has this eventmotivated or demotivated you from writing hubs? Has the new hubscore updates making you reconsider staying at HubPages or simply giving up and moving on?

I'm thinking the answer is probably yes?If you have hubs that have been deemed "not featured", for one reason or another, will that factor into lowering your overall score/rating as a HubPages member? Example--let's say your overall rating is 75. If 10 non featured hubs become...

A month ago I announced some updates to HubScore: raw traffic is deemphasized, reader satisfaction is emphasized, and overall, the scores are a more accurate reflection of the quality of Hubs than they used to be. Today, I'd like to talk about the subsequent update to Hubber Score — the score...
