   So Stan Fletcher, one of HPs finest humorists, has a contest up and running with a list of topics you must pick from and write about to win a fabulous cash prize.  All the topics are, well,... Only Stan Fletcher could have come up with topics this absurd and impossible to write about.  Which is why it is fun, and why you should all loosen up and take a crack at one.
   
   There's already some hilarious stuff posted on there (OMG, LTFAWKES's is genius if you think about it long enough).  Anyway, check it out if you are bored.

   I've been reading through them. I rather enjoyed Nicomps hair in a can, but so far your kitty gets my vote. It just made me lol for real. This Stan Fletcher's another hubber that's fabulous fun yet has flown under the radar.

      I'm bumping too, I think.  Not sure what that means, but I think I may be doing it now.  Yes, the contest is going swimmingly.  With the recession, the three dollar grand prize is getting more traction than I would have ever thought.  Shades, your entry was hilarious.  Can't wait to see yours, Frog.  Have you explained your name on your profile?  I must go look.

      Everything flies under the radar these days.  There's just such a huge volume of stuff being done, it's hard to find the stuff that is written just for fun.  And I've seen a few new folks come in, folks I find by accident, and it seems like it's even harder to get readers anymore.  Long gone are the days when you could get 150 comments on practically every hub, ongoing story telling and running jokes for two weeks straight. 
      
      Maybe Stan's can be a rally point.
      
      Silvergenes has a horror thing going too, but I'm not sure if there's a hub for it or if it was just a thread on the forums or what.  But there is some fun around right now for those who like creative stuff as a change of pace from selling all the time.

          A 'Blizzard' is an ice cream treat, usually consisting of a large dollop of vanilla ice cream in a cup, and topped with (I believe) bits of finely shaved chocolate and / or Oreo cookie bits.  Check out the link:

    Wow! Great response to your contest!
    
    I have a question for you.
    I think I know the answer, but want to be sure.
    You are judging the contest AS A WHOLE.
    Meaning that out of ALL the entries in ALL categories your panel of esteemed judges will pick the top 3 best hubs.
    
    I ask this because I am in the middle of writing my second entry. I deliberately chose a category that has not (as of yet) been flooded with superb entries from other hubbers.
    My thought was I could "own" the question if no one else chooses to write on it.
    
    However, in writing a hub response to another question, am I not, in fact, lessening the odds of my first entry winning?
    I am not generally one for competing against myself!
    I am a very sore loser when I beat myself.
    
    Anyway, I was wondering if, in addition to your three VERY GENEROUS prizes you might consider offering "honorable mention" to the top entry in each of your 16 categories.
    
    You know us hubbers. We are all about recognition and bragging rights .

       Great idea.  I had already thought of adding a poll and doing a 'people's choice' catagory.  Yes, you are correct.  The top three prizes are for the 3 best hubs, regardless of catagory.  It doesn't matter which one you pick, or how many people write about the same one......
