How long did most of you before you started seeing comments

   I was just curious how long it took people posting before they started receiving comments on their articles.

      Within a few minutes. Sometimes articles don't do very well. One has to write about a variety of things. Not everybody is interested in the same things.

   For me it depended on the article I wrote. Sometimes within five minutes and sometimes it took up to a week. It just varies. It also helps to get your name out there.

   About 1/3 of my hubs have never received a comment.  Others have received several within hours of publishing.
   
   It's all rather variable
   
   I will say, however, that hubs pointed towards hubbers rather than income seem to do better for comments.  Relatively few organic readers leave comments, although there are a few.
   
   Ironically, as I type my answer a pop-up indicates I receive a new comment!

      You have a "pop up" that tells you when you receive comments? I've never seen that happen to me before. Where does the pop-up come from?

         I signed up to get an email whenever I get a comment.  Whenever I get any email I get the popup from that.
         
         So it's not particularly the comment that does it; that's just the beginning of the chain.

   There are now 20 comments on my 16 hubs and I joined a month ago. So it only took a few weeks. I agree with Sophia that some articles don't do very well as half of my hubs don't have comments. It really depends on the topic of the hub and if there's anything to say or discuss.
   
   It's indeed Hubbers that leave comments and not people who find your hubs through search engines.

   The best way to get followers if that is important to you, is to read other hubs, leave comments when you have something to say, and to write quality hubs. 
   
   It would be a good idea to write a profile for yourself as well. Lots of hubbers try to get to know each other by reading the profiles. 
   
   Your articles also have a reasonably small audience, since they all appear to be about the same topic and are all too short. 
   
   Hubs that promise additional information should follow up on the promise. 
   
   Your hubs need some work, I suggest that you post one or two on the forum "Extreme Hub Makeover" the hub community will give lots of feedback and help you evolve into a great hubber.

   It doesn't take long ,especially if you're writing hubs that people will love to read. Getting comment isn't that hard just keep writing, reading and commenting on others hubs. blessings to youj. creativeone59

      Receiving comments was pretty immediate, within a day or so after I wrote the first hub if I remember right. I have noticed that the more I write, and the more active I am in the forums the easier it is for people to find me because I'm visible.
      
      Also, you'll notice off to the right and toward the bottom of your hubs is a sidebar of other hubs people have written called  "Recommendations." The more you write, the more likely you are to pop up in that sidebar, as well, so even if people are reading a hub someone else wrote, if one of your hubs ends up in the "Recommendations" sidebar, someone can find you there, as well.

   Thanks for all the great tips!  I'm pretty new and I still get excited when I get a new comment.  I need to remember that others feel the same way and remember to comment when a hub is helpful or interesting to me.

   I usually get a comment on a just published hub anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. That time span depends a lot on the subject of the hub. Most of my comments come from hubbers but occassionally I will get one through the search engine.

    hubbers generally leave more comments, but depending on the topic and who finds it, outside comments definitely come in.  sometimes a hub can be linked from a site which brings in interested viewers.
    I have one hub with a number of outside comments and I have a hubber relative who receives mostly outside comments with his 'how to' articles.

    It can take a while.  Some of my articles don't have any, and one just toke off like crazy and has over 1,000 comments.....  AND it was just something I threw together for fun.  I didn't think it would do much, but I was board.  Now it's my biggest article.  I've had to add stuff just because people requested it.  It totally cracks me up because it's just kind of fluff, but whatever works!
