Blogger and HubPages

   Hey everyone,
   
   I've been here at HP for over four months now, and I'm loving it.  Besides the writing, I also enjoy reading others' hubs and communicating through the forums.
   
   Was just wondering how many people use HubPages AND Blogger and how much success people have had with Blogger.  I recently started a blog, and I'm liking the idea of it, though I still find HP to be providing me with more traffic.
   
   Could be that I'm just new at the whole blogging world.
   
   Curious to hear others' thoughts.

      i have one blog and i found that i have to be very consistent to get traffic and do a lot of back linking and comment in the forums. I like the blog idea because i don't have to write very long articles, only just precise and informative content. However, by far HP traffic is the best since it is well established, i find it hard to update my blog because i am always tired after giving my all to HP.

      I have been a Hub Pages writer for just over a year now. Every Hub I write, I automatically post to my pre-existing "Blog" site to increase my readership.

   I have several blogger blogs, but don't post often enough. To get traffic you really do need to be consistent

   I have several Blogger blogs that do pretty well, but they're all fairly aged (3 to 4 years I think) and very niche-focused. Although having them on Blogger hasn't hurt anything, if I had to do it over again knowing what I know now, I probably would have started them on WordPress.

         Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org?
         
         I am using Wordpress.org as a CMS, and am loving it! A lot of people seem to like it on here, and in general I guess.

   Funny you should ask.  I would like to make more posts to my blogger blog in this new year.  And be more consistent, too.  In the past, I used blogger to link to my HubPages articles.
   
   I'm not sure why I drag my feet so much anyway, when it comes to blog posts.  Whereas I feel that every HubPages hub is a composition, and needs a good opening and closing, the blog posts are surely a much more informal type of writing  -- like a personal journal.
   
   And if we're talking about a diary or journal, I think I just prefer to scribble in my real journal, using a fountain pen.

   Interesting to read the different points of view.  I think I just need to be patient. I've only have my blog now for about a week, and I've been on HP for longer.  It took a little while for me to find success with HP, but it certainly has come, so I think if I just keep pushing forward, I might find it with Blogger, too.

   I have several blogs and only one performs really well. In fact it's the bulk of my online income. I use hubpages to link to it. I also use hubpages as a creative outlet when I want to write about various topics. Having both is a good thing. You never know what will become popular.

    I have one blogger blog I've worked on here and there in the last two years (I think it's been that long anyway haha). When I post, it does very well. When I don't (which is more often than not, it only gets a few hits a day).
    
    I'm sure I could be more successful with it if I did it consistently. I did make the jump and buy my own domain name for it a while back ago, with the intent of getting more serious about it. But I just haven't buckled down with it yet.

    At HubPages, we see a blog as more personal information where a Hub is more evergreen.  Evergreen content will be useful over time and is what others are searching for online.  Linking to your blog and back to HubPages can be beneficial, especially if it's in your reader's best interest.    This is just a thought and by no means a rule.   Many Hubbers have personal blogs and write on other websites which we think is wonderful.  Best of luck!

          Hi Kristen,
          A teacher blog is a great idea!  I was a third grade teacher and it is so great to get ideas and lesson plans from the internet.  I know there are a few teachers on HP that post their lesson plans here as well.  I appreciate you sharing your teacher insights!  Cheers!  Robin

    I don't know whether buying my domain has increased traffic or not. It hasn't hurt though. I think it helps in making it look more professional. It's also a lot easier for me to share the address without adding the ".blogspot..." part of it. haha

    I'm a Hubber through and through.  I've tried blogging, but I find writing Hubs much more focused, which is more to my 'taste.'

    Blogs should be focused and well-planned. The rambly writing in my diary kind aren't so likely to pay off unless it's a travel journal or such that merits a daily log.   
    
    Not sure how well that niche you've chosen would pay, however, but I'd guess you know what you're doing. If it's front-loaded, then it's less of a time gamble, but if it's something you'll need to consistently update forever make sure it's gonna pay off enough to make it worthwhile.
    
    Sounds kind of all around teacher aids type of thing. You might want to narrow in your niche to compete with everything already out there. Maybe a certain grade or subject or both, or teachers' issues or some such. Use lots of good seo.
    
    As a side-note, I'd use my hubs to point to my blog, and not my blog to point to my hubs. Your blog needs more help first of all, not having the built-in optimization HP provides, and for you has more earning potential if you can capture some of that audience there instead.

          I was pondering the plummet, and the only thing I can come up with is that I seem to have passed my 1 year anniversary date as well. I don't think it's the general neglect this account receives, since I have neglected it entirely for much longer than a week before.
          
          Maybe the one year status triggers a review that says if by now you only have 5 hubs you must be a loser.
          
          It's alright, by the end of next month I plan on having 6. I'm sure the world will right itself then.

    I do both and must say the blogging thing gets a bit boring after a while.  Its good to do the other things available.   I spread my time around and I have a website as well.
    
    HubPages pays off very well if you work at it.  Continued improvement is key!

    My blogger blog is over a year old, and it does, at least, have a niche and a focus.  I'm sure I could do better with it if I just put more time into it.
    
    And, yes, my blog does complement the kind of things that I write about on HubPages.  When I see that my blog actually has gained some followers, I can't believe it.
    
    I'm a good letter writer.  I have a large box filled with copies of my letters written before the transition to the Internet.  I cannot help but believe that, if I could somehow capture the personal aspect of a letter in my blog posts, they'd be more interesting to readers. I don't mean merely talking about what I have been doing, but recognizing that others have problems and questions that need answers. Seems like a plan, anyway!
