There are several: I find myselt typing more and increasing my typing skill. I get a chance to interact with all of you. I get a chance to engage in critical thinking. I am afforded the opportunity of writing and reading more frequently. Last, I have an outlet for my thoughts.

      The chicks.

I walk around in public with a t-shirt that has written on it in big bold letters "darkside@hubpages" and it's like Beatlemania.

I agreek, oxymoron,  that you can indeed learn alot. I might also add that you get to echange ideas and to see how well your ideas hold up in the marketplace.

If there wasnt any Hubpages i would not not have known about Adsense and lots of other stuffs about online moneymaking. I met up with a few hubbers in real life and they turned out to be wonderful people. Hubbing got me 4 best friends. Finally though never met you all face to face, you crazy smart people always never fail to make me laugh. hubbing brought me you

It's nice to have a place where you can write about anything, and you don't have to stress out over whether it's going to be accepted or not.  I love to write, and talk, and write and talk some more.  I love it here because I can just ramble on about random things that come to my mind without worrying about it being so perfect for SEO or anything else.

I do the SEO thing with my blogs and I do the editor stressing stuff with the articles I sell.  I need Hubpages to relax and be myself.

Two things that are especially awesome about hubpages:
    1. The Community. I learnt a lot from posting questions and just reading other people's hubs and posts in the forum. I started two months ago, and have learnt a whole lot in that time. Many of the people here are really great and surprisingly free about helping other members out on strategies of how to increase visibility and ad-income.

    2. Quick indexing by Google. Articles I write here get indexed by Google in a matter of hours.

The main thing I got from HubPages was confidence.

I started out at Helium, but soon discovered the earnings were very poor, so I tried starting a blog - but quickly discovered the average blog is invisible to search engines!  The tiny trickle of visitors was discouraging.

Then I discovered HubPages and was thrilled to find people reading my Hubs almost at once. Finally, I had an audience!   It took about three months for me to even start earning any money, but the income soon outstripped my Helium earnings with a fraction of the articles.  It's still not a lot of money - but I'm well on the way to my second $100 with around 35,000 views, so I'm not complaining.

Along the way I've learned a huge amount about writing online, both from these forums and from reading other Hubs.  I've found the journey enjoyable and fascinating.  I've learned enough to know that writing online doesn't suit me as a career, but that in itself is a worthwhile thing to know.  I can now settle back and enjoy my online presence as a hobby.

Hub Pages is different than a lot of forums and networking sites.

    1. A lot of positive  feedback and interaction.
    2. A lot of "real" people  who are willing to comment promptly.
    3. The moderators are active and attentive to the concerns of the posters.
    4. You will become rich and famous after a while.

    Three outta four ain't bad.

Like what they all said! Indexing is quick: you get a quick feel whether a topic has got demand or not.
The community is fantastic - if it wasn't for this site I would have given up on making a living online months ago
The feedback is fantastic - it was so lonely when I only had a blog because friends wouldn't comment - afraid to give out their email address and therefore no one did!
    Its a great online CV http://hubpages.com/hub/Using-Hubpages- … ulum-vitae
and has improved my writing to the point that other deluded people pay me for it!
You get a good PR on your profile which is handy for backlinks

I haven't seen this particular benefit yet - my profile page is still unranked, even after the last round of Google updates.

I have been here for months and written a hundred Hubs, and put links to my HubPages profile on other profile pages (probably less than 10, though) - I can only conclude that Google has it in for me ... smile

If i Google your screen name, your hubpages profile comes up #1 with lots of others following.
but maybe this is not what you are talking about.

Jenny - My Profile PR suddenly disappeared about 2 months ago, then just as suddenly reappeared last week (at PR4, it was 3 before it vanished). It's a bit odd, the whole PR thing. Google moves in mysterious ways. Maybe yours will magically appear on September 17.

It's all designed to encourage superstitious behaviour - maybe if I do *this*, the GoogleGods will forgive me my trespasses ...

I should invent a new prayer,

Our Yahoo, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy Kingdom come, thy Search be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily thread,
          And forgive us our bounces,
As we forgive those who bounce off our URLs.
Lead us not into the Sandbox,
But deliver us from Google, for thine is the Kingdom,
The power and the glory, forever and ever, amen.

    I'd say community first.

Secondly, I'd say the 'deadline' to write something interesting.
