What do you think I should change?
Hey markinter,
Just from looking over your Hub, I would say that it seems fairly unorganized as far as the placement of content goes. Although I know that having good text content is important, if it's not a very aesthetic read, then no one is going to give it much value either.
I would have made the photos of the software about half as large and would have paired them individually with the text that goes along with them. I think that it just makes much more sense that way.
Keep on Hubbing, you've got a great start and you understand how to use all of the tools...the rest just takes a little bit of practice, that's all. Keep it up!
It is a good looking hub, but there are an awful lot of mistakes in the English grammar. I would think this might put a reader off.
Apart from that, it seems very good. A little short perhaps, with no real information. I got the impression you hadn't actually tried any of the programs you are discussing.
Nice pictures, and good videos. I think if you fixed the poor English, it would work well.
No that my English would be the greatest but as long as you are hubbing about "Improving your English Skills" you should provide clean and proper English grammar on your articles.
Can you please point me out some grammar mistakes I made...I don't see any (I'm not native English speaker as you noticed )
I believe there are a few here that offer editing services for a fee, but I don't do that. Sorry.
uh...you're pointing out that I have grammar mistakes and then you don't want to actually tell me which are they...lol
Anyway, thanks for your comment that I don't really sound like I used the products (which isn't true..). By the way, can you tell me why did you get such impression?
I too think there aren't many grammar mistakes.
OK - your English is perfect. Exactly the type of English I would hope to see when visiting the profile of some one who is claiming to be teaching people better English. No grammar mistakes. No misuses of the English language.
But if you think I am going to correct your grammar for free you can think again.
This is a place where you ask people what they think of your hub, not where you get free editing services. I told you what I thought of it.
I also told you I thought it was too short, and lacked information. In fact, the only reason I mentioned the poor English was because of this on your profile page:
I guess I forgot to change my profile desc...
Btw, you hit the nail about the "lacking information" part. I recently noticed that when you try to write with the mindset 'I want to write great content and give value' and even THEN go with: 'I want to put some link to my site here' opposed to what most people mindset is 'I want to write here so I can put some links' you can write greater content...I started implementing this mindset recently so expect more quality hubs from me soon..lol
P.S. I read one of your arguments that content is king and wanted to say
Content is not king anymore, it may own half of the kindom but the other half is owned by the PACKAGING of the content. What will you pay more attention to if you were interested..um..let's say Samsung TVs:
Top 5 Irresistible Samsung TVs
A list of great Samsung TVs
You get my point? I think it starts to be the same way not only with headlines but with all the content...giving great information without engaging and entertaining the reader is as bad as giving no information but entertaining the reader. But these 2 together make the magic.
Greetings - some might think I'm being pedantic, but in fact there are not very many errors of grammar. There are, however, a few idiomatic anomalies where the language deviates from standard usage. To be honest these didn't worry me too much, because you're offering Spanish language products which are probably best endorsed by a native Spanish speaker. I thought it was a pretty good hub.
@Markinter - I`ve read your hub, and what I can say is that your English is pretty good, but the topic you are writing about is not the one you should concentrate on, that unless you are a native English speaker with some really good writing and reading skills. Just choose another topic that you would be more comfortable with, anything you like. I have to point this out - Some of the most popular blogs in the blogosphere are written by people that don`t handle English very well, and they seem to have success, so you don`t have to be perfect as long as you make yourself understood.
I went to an English school, (Oslo International School of Oslo) for 5 years, that`s where I`ve learned English mostly, what I can say my annual grades were far better than most of the other`s, raised and grown in English families. Writing is a bit more difficult than speaking, that is for sure. Sometimes you can not find your words when speaking to someone right? Imagine that writing without inspiration can be pretty tough.
At least I try my best to provide good articles, and that`s what I will be doing in the future.
Alex
I would suggest, that when organizing your material come up with at least 5 to 7 subheadings to your theme or subject matter.
Next ask yourself what information would someone want to know about this subject. Seek to answer all questions a reader may have.
After doing this before publishing have a friend or family member read it and give you advice on areas to improve, then publish it.
Hope this helps.
Mark's right. Content IS king. Packaging is nice and all, but if the content stinks, your ratings will show it. I can't say I've had any hubs reach super-status yet, but I know my content is good and worth viewing.
Also; if your hub's about teaching Spanish to English users, you really should improve on your English skills. I'd offer to do a full editorial sweep of your hub, but I don't have the time for it. I barely have the time to be online right now; I need to get ready for work.
Remind me to read your hub later. ;-)

Why don't people check their spelling and grammar when they write and publish their Hubs?It is understandable when the person is not a native English speaker, but when the author is a native English speaker with some amount of education, it is quite sad.

An observation: sometimes threads critiquing people's English skills get taken down. However, it's usually when people derail the thread or when people are a little harder on the writer than necessary. However, with the onslaught of poor language and grammatical skills on the site lately, it's...

Does bad grammar and spelling bother you?I don't expect everyone to be an English professor, but for goodness sake people, use some punctuation and a built in spell-check! This is primarily aimed at forums, hubs, and places like YouTube comments. Places where people could take the time to read over...

Writing article is not a fun, at the same time taking much time and concentration sitting in front of the PC for hours not to play, I agree that the standards of the websites varies, from the starting all of my hubs were not accepted to published, the reason is quiet normal and as usual, i.e. few...
