That's sucks! Google terminated my account yeasterday. Any ideas?
I pleaded not guilty already, but I don't think it will help. Something I violated without knowing. What could it be? I am not from India so it is probably my fault. Traffic exchange usage may be. I really-really would like to know.

I'm assuming you're referring to Google Adsense.

You should have received an email with the general reasons relating to your ban. What did the email say?

I  am a 'threat to advertisers', that's what it said. They terminated my account and the only reason I can think about is my very moderate use of some of traffic exchanges like  trafficswarm for example.
I had a very bad day yesterday.
      1. I lost my Google account.
      2. Somebody stole my wallet at work with all my ids, money and bank cards.
      3. Somebody ran me over on a bike, said  something like 'oups!' and left.
Actually after first too this last accident was tolerable enough, just a couple of bruises. sad

Sorry to hear about Adsense, using traffic exchanges is against their TOS I believe.

Sorry you lost your wallet...that is just lousy. And I can't tell you how many times I was almost run over by a bike when I lived in Toronto.

Thanks, UW. I guess I should have paid attention but I had this Googe account for many years and kind of took it for granted when I joined Hubpages. Now if I am not getting it back and I almost sure I won't, I will have to leave Hubpages for good.
Take my wallet, run my with a bike again but give me back my account !   http://www.pic4ever.com/images/4fvgdaq_th.gif

With all the changes going on here at HP it sounds like the in-house programs (HPads and ebay and amazon all being through HP) you may find simply switching to the in house programs instead will keep you from loosing all the income your hubs generate. Unless of course you have somewhere else you can publish your hubs to that could earn?

        1. frogdropping profile image75
frogdroppingposted 13 years agoin reply to this

And that's gonna be a big problem Kirtsen. You need an Adsense affiliation. You also need a PayPal one.

So saying - if you're a Hubpages member and you lose one or the other, you're royally on your ass. This is another reason as to why forcing everyone into the mandatory (opportunity?!) system in the New Year is going to be of the biggest benefit to HP itself.

If you can't be a part of the program because you've lost Adsense or PayPal, anything earned on your hubs will go straight into HP coffers. Unless you unpublish and remove them.

Homegirl I'm sorry you've lost your affiliation sad

frogdropping: the only element of HP Earnings that is linked to Adsense is HP Ads - even if you lose Google Adsense you can still use eBay and Amazon! So the only element you'd lose to HP is the Adsense income - the Amazon and eBay income will still be payable to you.

I agree that losing paypal will be a problem, but in theory despite not being able to pay them out, they would still belong to the Hubber.

It sucks I know - I wish there was a HP Ads program that was isolated from Google so that those who lose their Adsense accounts can still partake in Ads...

I thought the HPads and other in house stuff was not related to our having our own accounts with adsense or amazon, that thats the only good point about these new changes. I could be wrong but I had the idea that this in house stuff was the way around the BS tax laws around amazon because they hit in Cali (HP's location, putting them in the same situation many hubbers were in for so long before). If I am wrong then, darned! I hate it when I get totally the wrong end of the stick! Why can't this stuff be clearer to understand? Frankly I prefer to know exactly how I am being screwed when being screwed (and if you got the right end of the stick then the word screwed seems apt). I do agree on the Paypal score tho, that is exactly how I understood the HPads payment method. Sadly paypal is well known for its superior people screwing abilities..... hmm

This time I am NOT JOKING, mega1! I indeed lost my Google account. I am still in shock. and the appeal did not bring any responses. These two years on Hubpages helped me to cope with my  extremely difficult personal life. I do not want to complain but it's a serious blow to my self esteem.  I feel so lousy, as if somebody just hit me on my head and told me,'you, stupid woman, how did you let it happen?'  I guess, I was stupid. Internet is like a freeway, if you don't know the rules - somebody will run over you.

        Hi homegirl -
I too have just lost my google account - yesterday in fact - I am devastated as I was about to be paid $172.00 by the end of the month..I have never used traffic sites but three days ago I went to a site called hits increaser (which I was interested in because it advertised that you just watched videos and get paid silly me..) and while I couldn't quite see how it all worked obviously google could - because after two days of me leaving it and then returning  to it to see whether I wanted to continue with it Google axed me - hope they will re-instate after my having had a fairly blameless career...then horror of horrors I come back to hubpages to see that my account here is no longer active also! now this also a shock as I was under the impression that hubpages no longer used adsense after the panda thing...but that they were using a different advertiser...I am expecting a payment from this account also on the 20th... so who knew - you are right the internet is like a great big freeway and I am roadkill...cheers   sorry for the rant...hope you get sorted..

My bad if I'm wrong about the Adsense/HPads/Ebay/Amazon grouping. I believe you (Simey) are correct on this one smile

If you can still earn from the second two, fine. The choice to stay and try recoup losses through sales hubs is the choice of the hubber. However they'd be handing over all of the rev from ads.

I agree - losing Adsense will kill all revenue for many users - so HP really need to find an alternative Ad program where users don't have to rely on Adsense - well HP don't have to I guess, but it seems with Google Adsense cracking down more and more, the number of Hubbers with active Adsense accounts will be down to a few eventually!

Anyway, looking at that, seems Ebay is optional but that's kinda misleading? As in you don't have to opt into it however, should you choose to do so, you cannot use your own Ebay affiliation, you have to use HP's.

Plus you can't use HPads if you don't have Adsense, or use Ebay if you don't have Adsense. Which leaves you with Amazon, supposing you're an earner in the first place. Plus you'll still have ads on your hubs, unless you turn them off? And if you can't partner with PayPal, you're snookered the whole way around.

    Awesome.

As someone who started first at Squidoo, I've had many years to get used to not having direct affiliate relationships and having managed ones instead.  It's been interesting to see how differently the two sites started out from each other and how over the last few years, they've slowly been evolving to be more similar.

Whenever HubPages has said they are going to make a change to the site that would either improve traffic or earnings, I've seen those improvements happen and benefited from them.  I can still remember authors screaming unfairness and censorship when they did the first big upheaval and killed all the adult/porn content that was here.  I'm wary every time they change something but I haven't left yet.

Really the same sorts of changes happen at Squidoo too and people there go screaming from one end of the forums to the other, just like here.

relache, not that you need me to say this; but since you brought up the matter of "crap", I don't mind saying that of all the information that shows up on these forums and strikes me as "baloney" (often based on what I've seen for myself and KNOW is baloney)…

If there's one person on here whose thoughts/opinions about Hub-writing, the Internet, HubPages (etc.) are something I very much pay attention to, respect, and value - that person is you.  (That's not to suggest that there aren't a lot of other people whose opinions I respect.  It's just that there really is a lot of misguided stuff that gets passed off as "expert advice" on here too.

I just thought it might be worth mentioning in public and when there's no particular "dispute" in progress at the moment.)  I'm not referring to, or thinking about, anything that may have gone on or not gone on in any other threads.  Just making the isolated comment above in reply to your one post immediately above.

            In the meantime...

Home Girl, sorry to know this happened.  I imagine you'll find a way to do "the next thing", but nobody ever likes to hear that someone else has had "stinko" things going on with their Hub-writing (or in their offline life, for that matter).   hmm

And I did not tell about my hub-writing to a lot of people, so no clicks on ads have been involved I am sure. I honestly did not know that traffic exchanges are no-no to Google but I am not putting my ignorance as an excuse. I should have known better.

It gets very hard to accept change when your settled in, comfortable in a box and happy with the status quo.

When changes come in as they have and will continue to do at both places like here at HubPages and Squidoo, for some its panic stations and they crap their pants when change occurs.

As Relache pointed out some go screaming from one end of a forum to the other. Some take an extreme measure and call people (other writers) and staff arseholes and you don't know what your doing, your bloody insane and crazy or some such, which can only be based on fear of what an uncertain future may hold.

Change is scary folks, for everyone, for the stake holders and the writers.

There is change, then an uncertainty of what the future holds, patterns emerge which then provide a clearer picture, and then there is the settling in period and then back to some stability. So after all is said and done, we get back to being comfortable again.

The point is some will always see benefit and positive potential with change, and others see destruction, mayhem and an opportunity for things to get worse.

Home Girl, see what you can do to get your AdSense account back in good standing, yet stick around Im sure there will be benefits to being a part of HubPages even if you can't use the financial benefits here anymore. There is always more thanone way to skin a cat smile

you didn't go tell all your friends about your hubs or post links to them on facebook or twitter did you? This is one of the major reasons people lose their google accounts- their friends not tha author messed up by clicking adds, especially if you have hundreds of followers on either service or from a site somewhere- if they all go to your hub and each click just one ad, google will see this and see it's source as one place, and will see click fraud regardless of if you told them to click ads or not- tis why I say never use the facebook or twitter or posting your hub links to friends anywhere- I don't even tell my friends about my hubs or sites with adsense on them- too dangerous

Hello all --  I just signed up for HubPages and submitted my first Hub today.  It was a bit confusing for me, but I think I did it okay.  I haven't signed up for Adsense, I wasn't sure about it, since my understanding is that I would need my HubPages for 6 months before being approved.  As for the HubPage ads, I don't think I signed up for that either, not sure where to find it.

After reading this thread, not sure about Adsense now.  smile

    1. QuestionMaster profile image76

The 6 month rule only applies if you live in a country in India/Asia (high spam countries) usually.

You'll only get banned if you break any of the Adsense rules (such as no adult content, no clicking your own adverts or encouraging clicks, no traffic exchanges.) Those who get banned often do so because they never read the rules or ToS - make sure you do so.

I'd recommend writing ten quality hubs then applying to Adsense. If you're not sure about the quality of the hubs, post one or two in the extreme hub makeover forum.

You cannot use the HP ad program without being affiliated with Adsense.
