To those of you that make Ebay sales

   Are you showing any Ebay sales since May 26th?  I get regular ebay sales, everyday or at the very least every three days or so.  My dashboard is not showing any Ebay sales since May 26th.  I find that a bit odd.  I contacted HP and am awaiting a response.

         Thanks, I must just be having a dry spell.  It is still so strange since I have never gone more than 3 days without a sale since HP started tracking Ebay.  Now, it is 10 days.

            eBay has switched over to a new RSS feed (that's the way we get the products from eBay to display).  The new feed has been available for some time running in parallel, but eBay has only recently switched off the old version.  We don't know when HubPages switched over to the new version.
            
            I switched over to the new feed a while ago on my own sites and I noticed a downturn in my sales. So did others who switched at the same time.  Monitoring our traffic, we have the feeling that the new feed still isn't as reliable as it should be and eBay isn't catching every sale.

   Thanks for the feedback Relache & Marisa.  An Ebay sale posted yesterday, so that makes me feel better.  Hopefully, sales will start to pick up again.

   Just a small update. As reported, I had no Ebay sales for 10 days. Last sale May 26th.  Contacted HP on June 5th, they told me there was no problems with Ebay.  Now, I have daily Ebay sales showing again with sales on the 6, 7, 8, and 9.  Kinda strange.

   EBay is a rip off anyway.  Who do you think gets the commissions?  Sell a $700 item and get pennies for clicks.  Not acceptable when Amazon pays 40 or 50 dollars for the same item!

      I actually do very well with Ebay.  They are consistently my second highest earning program.  Not just on HP, but across all of my pages on other sites.  The Ebay items I promote can only be found on Ebay.  When promoting an item, I look at my own affiliate programs first, then Amazon and then Ebay.

         But you don't get a commission on HP. do you?  Or are you still able to use the same EBay account here as you use on other sites?  HP's in-house EBay program doesn't pay a commission and uses some obscure formula in which a large sale  only pays pennies.  A big difference in case you didn't know it!

            Actually there's no difference, Randy.  eBay's commission system IS obscure, even if you have your own eBay account.  They changed it a while back and don't call it commission any more, they call it "Quality Click Pricing" - which, as far as I'm concerned, is just a smokescreen to avoid paying what affiliates really earn!  When it was introduced, there was a lot of protest from affiliates, but eBay kept telling us that "most people will earn the same or better than under the old system".  Strangely, I don't know anybody who did.

               This is why I've removed almost all of the Ebay capsules from my hubs.  I've missed a few, but I'll find them eventually.  I don't trust this kind of bookkeeping, especially when I still get a commission from Amazon for the same or similar products.  I suppose it's okay for those who don't make any Amazon sales, as is the HPad program if one doesn't get many Adsense clicks.  I don't use HPads either.

                  As I said, the Ebay products I promote can only be purchased on Ebay (or Etsy, but Etsy does not have an affiliate program...wish they did).  If the product was on Amazon, I would promote it there.  However, last year I earned close to 20K with Ebay, so I will keep on showing their products.

                     Yes, I can see how it may fine if you use it on many sites, but when I can find Amazon products and actually see the commission I'm making it makes me feel better.  I started out selling a good number of EBay items but could see not much difference in the pay per click afterwards.  Someone has to be getting the commission on these sales, it sure isn't me!
