How To Level Up In Squidoo

Updated on July 29, 2013

How I Reach This Level Regardless of Lenses I Have

Hello! Wanna know how I reach this level regardless of lenses I have: a level 60 with only 15 featured lenses. I guess you're wondering how I did that thing. :D

It's not a miracle but rather a hardwork I put in. Anyway, the main thing I did was gain as much knowledge as I could by reading tips and other Squidoo resources. By doing this, everything you desire to happen will follow. And if you are eager to know how I make it, then continue your reading.

Have fun and let's learn from one another.

The image on the left came from wpclipart.

Leveling Is A Good Idea

At least they thought of adding this in Squidoo

The first time I came here and created an account, I was amazed by the leveling system. Because I didn't expect a social sharing site to have this kind of stuff. I become addictive to it and I'm sure it will to those who enjoy playing online games (MMORPG).

Doing good things in Squidoo will level you up like leaving comments to other lensmasters' lenses, squidliking it, hitting the Facebook like button, publishing more lenses (on your side); getting comments, squidlikes and other activities done by your visitors/readers/co-lensmasters on your published lenses and almost everything will reward you a level increased. For me, this is one of the reasons why people really enjoy staying here and it will hyped them.

Nice one Squidoo Staff for adding a Leveling System! :)

Let's Have A Level Up Debate

Since, quality and quantity are two factors to become a high level squid I just want to ask you this question.

Which is more important to you both in leveling and publishing lenses?

      It is quality for me.

    • dancingdiva02 4 years ago

I assume both? but quality should be more important!

    • khatha0808 4 years ago

Actually, I would say both are important factors. Many quality lenses will make be the best.

    • BW Duerr 4 years ago from Henrietta, New York

Quantity helps with reaching more viewers, but Quality is definitely King. It also pays off in the long run. Oh, and updating. Lots of updating. :)

    • TimeshareBrokerS 4 years ago

Quality, for sure. If that means lots of content, great - but it needs to be well organized and presented in an easily digestible way. Sometimes Quality is reflected as much in the way something is outlined, as it is in what is being presented.

    • kerryhrabstock 4 years ago

Quality. I really like to make nice looking lenses with good information.

    • rockingretro2 4 years ago

Quality! I know that if I read a lens and don't give it a like, that is two points that I won't get but I don't give the like unless I really like it.

    • Masterdevin123 4 years ago

One good lens is way better than 10 bad ones

    • CuteDino 4 years ago

Quantity, especially from a Squidliking perspective.

Always quality this gains you a good reputation and gets you lots of likes, but when it comes to you being nice to others it is quantity that counts, but you better make sure you leave only quality comments!

    • thebreakthroughmarketer 4 years ago

Higher quality lenses will likely get a higher quantity of visitors, likes, comments, etc. When I land on a lower quality lens, I just leave it - quickly.

Quality - anyone can create quantity, but not everyone is interested in producing quality.

    • GregKuhn 5 years ago

Quality. As an author I enjoy lenses using proper grammar and syntax (and work hard to do so myself). My lens are written (so far) to teach topics I write books about. I enjoy Squidoo.

    • Jethro 5 years ago from Philippines

@StrongMay: Thanks for your comment and tips! :)

    • StrongMay 5 years ago

By far, the better the lens, the better. Of course, many better lenses are best :)

    • Kenneth-Gearheart 5 years ago

Without quality content even if you get your level up you really have nothing of value to offer a reader!

    • Nicole Pellegrini 5 years ago from New Jersey

Building quality lenses is the key to me. By taking the time to learn how to build lenses "right" from the start, it gets easier and faster to build them with time.

    • MillBucks 5 years ago

I have to say that quality works better for me, its all about the research prior to publishing a lens. This helps to improve visitor satisfaction and in turn leads to more traffic and possible sales.

    • Harriet 5 years ago from Indiana

Quality is more important. I like to be proud of my lenses.

    • anonymous 5 years ago

Quality is the key and the secret is simple: is simple :)

    • wilfredpadilla 5 years ago

I like Quality! More readers are reading lenses with more Quality.

    • MsModernMary 5 years ago

I say quality is always key.

    • qasimalhammad 5 years ago

Quality is sure the key to leveling up and making money here, As for leveling up when your lens are of more quality it will get higher ranking and will get higher traffic which indeed will help you increase your earning.

    • Sandy Mertens 5 years ago from Wisconsin

Quality. But I was surprise to see when I created a new account here that I couldn't add more lenses until I leveled up.

    • Brandi 5 years ago from Maryland contest. :)

    • allenwebstarme 5 years ago

      Quality content works everywhere.

    • kaposzta 5 years ago

      90% quality and 10% quantity.

(The content must have a minimum length of 2-300 words.)

    • ibakir 5 years ago

70% quality and keep in short 30% Quantity

because we are not Shakespeare here to have 100% quality :D

    • ludyshubs 5 years ago

      Quality is number 1

    • barrysummers 5 years ago

    • goo2eyes lm 5 years ago

actually both but i have to choose quality

Quantity, especially from a Squidliking perspective. I visit TONS of lenses and read articles on many subjects. I engage with other lensmasters, leave comments, take polls and quizzes, etc. Quality is inspired through the quantity of good/great lenses I've viewed.

      • SergioBatista LM 5 years ago

I can't say both, but from what i have seen, high level squids have a lot of lens. In my mind practice leads to perfection or in modern terms you need 10.000 hours to be a master. So doing a lot of lens is to way to get the quality you aspire, the goal is quality the way is quantity!

      • ojtpupt2010 5 years ago

The more the merrier.. never under estimate the power of a weak unit if the come in hoards hahaha... makes your level very high.. :D

How Many Lenses Are Required to Get A High Level Rank?

      Have a guess...

Before, I thought that having more lenses will get you a higher rank. But now, I don't believe on it anymore because I made it for just having 15 featured lenses. Imagine that? Anyway, we can't deny that the thing I believed before is also true because by creating many lenses will increase your level. But there is another way to increase your level. As I said lately, interactivity is also the key. If your visitors interact with your lenses, you will reap the benefits of getting points. If you reach the needed points, you would naturally advance to the next level. That's what I did. I made my lenses a happy place to interact with and my level can't help but to increase over and over again.

So, I remind you that you are not an island here. You are not the only person who is responsible for gaining a high level. Don't just use your own effort for this; learn to leverage other peoples' effort.

Overall, What Lens Gave Me This Level?

This is the moment of truth!

I'm sure you are excited to know what lens gave me this level. And that lens is none other than "Quiz: Info About Sarah Geronimo". The main ingredient I used is the QUIZ Module.

I just placed quizzes about her and shared the lens URL to my Facebook friends (such as posting it to my joined facebook fanpages, groups and also through chatting) and other social networking sites. This made all the difference!

      Lessons I Learned

No matter how many published lenses you have.. for as long as you ensure that those lenses are quality passed and contain interactivity modules, you are safe and your dream of being a higher level squid will definitely come true.

But this one only applies for getting a higher level and I have other things in mind (and based on observation) on how to earn a decent amount of money. And that will be discussed on my future lenses.

Stay happy and enjoy every moment of your life. :)

Got to level 55 and became a Giant Squid in under six months. I have 25 lenses, and I have to say that I have made only one sale so far, so my advancement through levels here is due o the social interaction (i.e. comments, likes, participation in quizzes, duels, etc.)

I comment on lenses, like them, do polls, and quizzes! Oo0o0 also, to participate in those little debates and really comment a lot. -- when I mean comment, I mean comment with quality as well too! :) This is such a great lens to teach newbies how to level up. I appreciate you sharing with us.

I agree that participating in the community is the key to leveling up. I typically take my lunch break each day to surf Squidoo and leave comments, etc. I find some great lenses that way and it had really helped increase my level.
