Sagebrush Musings: A Lensography
Sagebrush, Tumbleweeds, and Mountains...
I'm a desert rat, have been most of my life. The desert holds a great deal of rugged beauty, and while many find the climate harsh, I've found that the hidden beauty is worthy of attention. My lensography details more of my online experience, but much of my online writing is an extension of experience in the desert Southwest.
Much of my current online writing is focused on ways to extend family income, though my beginnings are in simple blogging and musing. I got my start in online interaction through homeschooling boards, back when social media wasn't a buzzword. I don't spend a huge amount of time in those elements these days, but I do love Pinterest and I keep up with a few friends and family through Facebook. My 6 year old blog, Song of the Sagebrush, is my first creative outlet online.
Do you love the desert?
Kiddos and Desert Space
Room to Roam
One of the things I love best about the desert is the room to roam. Sure, there are neighborhoods and tract housing. But, there is so much open space, the kind of space that provides adventure and exploration for kids who are willing to embrace it! I read my great grandfather's biography every now and then and love the idea that he ran barefoot with the Indian kids on the Nebraska plains. Mine have run barefoot on Southern Nevada desert, and some on Mexican desert. I spent my childhood exploring gullies, hunting fossils and breathing crisp winter air while admiring the snow-capped mountains for which my state is named. Home definitely means Nevada!

My hubs and gardening...
Before I found Squidoo, I started my online earning adventure as a hubber. That's where I learned about the existence of Squidoo...both are unique ways to learn about online writing, each with its own features and challenges.
I have quite a number of gardening related hubs, but haven't delved into the area at Squidoo so much, yet.

Squid Angels get to spread a little cheer by blessing lenses...I just joined the ranks!
I put this lens together in order to apply for the Giant Squid program...I hesitated for the longest time because I didn't think I had enough quality lenses. Still, I went ahead, and was surprised as I earned the 25, 50, and 100 status all in one fell swoop. There are some nice conveniences in being a giant, but it's going to take a bit of time to learn the ropes. Thanks, Squidoo, for the opportunities that are provided!
