Giant Squid, Sandy's Lenses

Updated on January 27, 2015

SANDY'S LENSES - A Work in Progress! Always.

UPDATE as of 9/21/2011: I have added some more lenses that I recently completed. I hope you enjoy.

UPDATE as of 9/24/10: I did not continue on to gaining my 100 lenses, BUT I am not giving up. I am pushing forward and resetting my goals.

UPDATE as of 10/7/09: Due to many things that got in my way, I did not arrive at 100 Giant this last September. I will have to re-evaluate my schedule and goals and reset my eyes toward the target of 100. I know I can do it and will. Therefore, I am establishing a new personal target date of: December 15, 2009.

This lens has been established so that my friends and family can easily find my lenses. It is a quick review as to my accomplishments. It will help me to have an "at a glance" review of the variety and hopefully keep me motivated toward trying new topics.

I have decided to have fun with lenses first and then be concerned secondly about the success of my lenses. I am planning on using Sandy's Lenses as a palette for setting up ideas for future lenses as well. I am not sure about other lensmasters, but I have to write my ideas down and right now they are in a couple of places. At Sandy's Lenses, I will be able to just stop by, open a write/text module and put down my ideas.

I believe I can also benefit by using this lens to "park" some of my future reference, i.e. links, videos, poems, stories, etc., that I know I would want to use but not sure, at this point, where to place them.

I have added some of my upcoming lenses. I may have too many going at once but this is how I work best. I like to be able to have two or three open and my creativity feeds of each lens.

So, if this lens can help you get organized or stimulate the creative juices.....then so be it! I also would love your comments and your ideas on how you keep motivated toward Giant Squid.

Welcome fellow lensmasters. Let's go Giant!

Do You Want To Be A Giant Squid? - If I can do it, you can do it.

UPDATE: I came back to post as I forgot to do so earlier. I am Giant and have over 100 lenses. You can do it to!

NEWEST UPDATE: 8/8/09 Now that I have 50 lenses and have become a giant, I thought it would be just as fun (and would push me) to go for 100 lenses. So, I have taken the about you?

UPDATE: I made it and so can you. I found out today, July 2, 2009, that I made Giant. It is possible for you as well. So, if you need support, and I can help in any way, just ask.

I am going Giant! When? March 31, 2009. How about you?

UPDATE 4/3/09. I didn't make it by 3/31/09 but I believe if I had not set a date I would not hae made the progress that I did. We must remember, things not under our control will get in the way. May husband found out he had lung cancer late mid-March and had to have surgery. He is doing well and the long term prognosis is good. So, I move on.

What is your target date to become a Giant Squid?

Come on - ya know ya what to, sign that is.

@rwoman: Always working toward Squidoo in some fashion. I love to stop by each day, check stats and then go read other lenses.

Thank you for asking. No, I did not make the December 15 target as I only have 96 completed lenses. I ok with it all. It has been an adjustment, having lost my husband to cancer Sept. 3, leaving a job of 11 years in California and relocating to Utah. I will pickup and regroup after the holidays.

CONGRATULATIONS! You made Giant Squid! It's a great feeling, huh? No one really understands the feeling except another Giant. :-) Anyone that I tell just looks at me like I'm a little crazy. Like...and what is that??

[in reply to alteredkat] Thank you for your support toward Giant. It is fun and a nice goal to go for Giant. What is more fun is meeting new squids and interacting with such nice people. I also wish to the best in your continued success toward your fight with cancer. My husband is in his chemo treatment, fighting the good fight and adjusting to the drug. He is 72 and I am more concerned on the tole it takes on his overall health. He has narcolepsy as well and takes meds for that and sleeps (nature of the disease). We have been dealing with this most of our married life (42 years). Bless you and I wish you continued success in all that you do.

Best of luck with your goal! I was aiming for end of June but I think I need to readjust that to end of September...I'm close but you're closer! :o)

I'll watch for that big 50 crest to show up! Well done!

[in reply to papawu] Thanks. I am hoping to see ya there. I will keep you posted about my husband's recovery. I was telling him how long you went through chemo and he was amazed. He is not much of a computer buff and doesn't do well with blogging. I forgot to tell you that my husband has narcolepsy as well. So it is twice as difficult as he get tired from dealing with narcolepsy as well as the chemo.

Thanks again for your support. Best to you.

You're gettin' there Baby! I have no doubt that we will both be receiving badges real soon. I had a lens idea for you. Actually, it could turn into a whole saeries if you choose. I remember reading your "When I Was A Kid" lens and I figure you may have some knowledge of the McCarthy years. I believe it was a little before your time, but the "Red" trials were probably a little fresher in the minds of Americans than in my time. Why not do some lenses on writers and artists who were blackballed from Hollywood because of Senator McCarthy and his commission of thugs. It would be an enormously interesting read for me as well since I am a bit of a history buff. By the way, keep me informed as to how your hubby is fairing.
