Updated on August 13, 2011

Learn the art of seo the simple way.

Search engine optimization can be a great way to rank you high in search engine's such as Google, Bing, Yahoo. And it can also drive massive traffic to your website, blog or social media page like Hubpages.

Learning about how to effectively do seo is not hard at all, so it's important that you take the time to read up on it because not optimizing your content will cripple your chances of having any online success.

What is search engine optimization?

Before we discuss that, you have to understand first how search engines work and a bit of know-how. Search engines provide their users with the most relevant and up-to-date content to match the search term that was used. So for example if you go to Bing.com and in the search box type in "How To Train Dogs." Bing will pull up the most relevant website geared towards Dog training in it's results.

The most relevant website's are those that are updated frequently, have a lot of their own links pointing back to their site (back-linking) and have their website/blog content optimized with relevant key words. This goes the same for any social media profile's you might have such as Facebook, Youtube, and of course Hubpages.

People expect the most up-to-date and fresh content because it's the most useful to them. Updating your website, blog or social media profile with fresh content everyday or every two days will help you get noticed by the search engines.

So, if you want to get any type of traffic for your site, blog or social media profile's you have to update it frequently and optimize it with relevent keywords of the topic you're writing about. And for that reason, it is absolutely important to optimize your site for search engines for you to have the greatest deals in the entire world.

SEO Techniques

Making use of effective search engine optimization techniques will improve the page rank ofyour website. There are many tricks that can be used to increase page rank; the most effective method is to provide high quality content consistently. This seems like a simple concept but there are many websites that fails to providecontent that visitors find interesting.

Websites which provide content that are interesting, well-written and regularly updated, create highly engaged visitors who are more likely to return to the website in the coming days.

Key Word optimization

The next significant factor to optimizing your hubpage or blog is to include keywords and phrases within your content. This is to make sure that you're properly targeting your market. So again, if you're writing a Hubpage about " How To Master SEO" you would want to make sure that you have the longtail keyword "How to master SEO" through out your content.

Even just the word "seo" spread three or four times through out your written content is good enough. When the search engine bots are scrolling through your content it will know for sure your content is about SEO and will have no problem ranking it as fresh seo content.

also make sure your content titles, and blog title is the keyword you want to be optimized for.

Backlinking

Another optimization strategy that will rank your content high within search engine's and also drive a massive amount of traffic to you Hubpage, Blog, or website is backlinking. This is done by promoting your Hubpage link (URL) in forums, other social media profile content, and even email signatures. This is called back linking becauseyou leave a link, linking back to your website. imagine creating massive content both written and viral with your website URL attached to it. That's potentially millions of visitors to your website. If you're a person that thinks their not good at writting content, then you can also outsource this task.

Find someone on Elance.com or something to write content around your business, and post it up on your hubpages. For me, I love to write, I have a passion for it, so I write all my own content. But if you find that you can't do it then outsource this as a job and pay someone else to do it..

Meta Tags

This is a huge step that people miss, and that's implementing keyword tags into they content, and also adding meta tags into their blog header. So let's tackle the first one. A key word tag is important because it helps the search engine bots know what your content is about so they can index that content within the search engine. You want to make sure you add this because if someone is searching for "how To Cook Chicken" and you've just written fresh content with about "How To Cook Chicken" with keyword tags based on your content, your article will most likely be one of the top results that show up. And that's what you want, you want your article to be read.

Meta tag codes a very important because it gives the search engine bots a discription of what your website or blog is about. And when the search engine bot knows what your website is about it can better index it within it's search engine. The more descriptive, and keyword dense your meta tag is, the easier it is for the bots to index your blog. This is also why it's important to post frequent fresh content because as soon as you post new content, along comes the search engine bot to "crawl" the content and rank it within the search engine!

Remeber you need your content to be index within search engin's like Google, bing, And yahoo! because that's where people are searching for things. if they type in a word or phrase reklevent to your content and your content is fresh and indexed, your information will pop up as one of the first results from the persons search. Doesn't that sound great? it does to me lol.

Well I can go on and on about SEO techniques and how it helps rank your Hubpages well and drive tons of traffic to your blog and site. but I think this is good enough to get you started. if you need any more free advice and great tips you can head over to my website, or send me a message on Hubpages.
