SPRING - Lensmaster Challenge!
Spring On Squidoo!
I wanted to write this lens as a challenge to Squidoo Lensmasters, new and old, because I think it really helps to motivate when we share goals and aspirations, as well as success stories, and well, it just feels really great too! We all need a little motivation from time to time, and hearing how others are getting on really keeps me focused here on Squidoo.
Spring is an ideal time to set goals. Let's challenge ourselves. Let's state our goals here on this lens, and then go out and make them happen. They can be Squidoo goals, or general life goals, or perhaps one of each.
Doing this can help keep us focused and motivated, which in turn means that we are more likely to succeed.

If you can make your goal clear you have more chance of staying focused and motivated, which in turn will give you more chance of achieving it!
Your Life Goals For Spring 2013
So what about personal goals?
Spring is the perfect time to set about making personal goals that can help you to create the life you want.
Perhaps you want to get fit and healthy? Or perhaps you want to lose weight? Or maybe it is about changing your work and/or quality of life? Perhaps you would like to spend more time with your family?
Why not make this Spring the time to make those dreams come true?

Using Visualization To Help Create The Life You Want
If you are unsure what visualization is, it basically means using your imagination to imagine a set of circumstances you want. The idea is that everything is made of energy, including our thoughts, and so our thoughts can affect our circumstances. What we focus on grows. It's sort of like telling yourself a story, making pictures in your head or daydreaming, except you are mindful of what you think about. A lot of experts think it is best to make the visualization really detailed and specific.
Far from being airy fairy, visualization is becoming more widely accepted as a valid method of helping you to achieve your goals. A growing body of evidence shows that people who imagine the things they want and focus on those are more likely to get that set of circumstances. Athletes use visualization alongside physical training when they are preparing for the Olympics, and it has been scientifically shown that those who practice in their head AS WELL AS the physical training get better results.
Physiological changes can occur in our bodies as a result of our thoughts, so we can imagine doing something well, getting stronger muscles etc, that will occur. Obviously this does not replace physical training, however the two complement each other. It is the same principle that allows people to heal their bodies, and this is especially magical when westernized medicine has said that they are not curable! How about the experiments which show that 'thinking young' actually creates changes in your body chemistry that helps you to stay young! Pretty amazing stuff huh?
If you are a very practically minded person who has a difficult time accepting all this, bring it back down a level. If you were preparing for a job interview would you practice in your head? Of course you would! And would this help your actual performance on the day? You bet. Well if it can help that situation out there in the real world, why not other types of situation too.
Most successful people use visualization these days.

Tools To Help With Visualization
I love Tony Robbins. He is such a motivational speaker and he has helped so many people get 'unstuck'!
I am going to tell you about SMART goals, because motivational experts swear by them. Having said this I just want to add a little disclaimer here, while I see the use, I actually prefer not to be SO specific. Especially when it comes to making money online. When I started at this I was unrealistic about how long it would take to actually see results, and this leads to disappointment. So I am treating this now a bit more like just something I do, and when the results happen (which they have started to) I will feel pleased (which I do).
Although I TOTALLY believe in being specific with visualization, for goals I keep my timescales a bit looser, especially when it comes to earning money online, when it is hard to set a timeline in stone, because there are so many variables and unknown factors that can affect the results. Yes we all get distracted by the promises of 'earn $1 million gazzillion by tomorrow doing nothing!' but come on, you know those type of promises never really work out! Persistent work over time however WILL pay off, it you are following a good plan.

Anyway, back to SMART goals. SMART means:
Specific - How much? By when? With whom/ How?
Measurable - include figures and timescales to make your goals measurable.
Achievable - earning a milllion gazillion dollars by tomorrow is NOT achievable for most people. However earning your first $50 within 3 months might be much more achievable. This one needs to be personal to you and your set of circumstances. The thing I found hardest with this is when I started online I had NO IDEA what was achievable, and much less timescales. Let me just tell you, from my experience working online is NOT a get rich quick scheme, the income will build up over time, but it will KEEP BUILDING.
Timely - is now really the right time to start your goal? I know there is no time like the present, however if you have just lost your job, it might not be the best time to be planning how much you are going to save, a better goal might be to start earning again first, so make sure your goal suits where you are at this time.
Example of a vague goal - I would like to lose some weight.
SMART equivalent goal - I intend to lose 8 kgs in 3 months.
