Squidoo and Pinterest - A Happy Social Media Marriage for Web Traffic
A Heavenly Social Media Marriage
They say that in order to have a good marriage, the couple should be 'equally yoked'. Being 'equally yoked' refers to them having similar spiritual faith and values.
Well in the world of social media, when I think about Squidoo and Pinterest, I can see an equally yoked marriage that is made in 'social media heaven'! They both share the same 'Social media values' of facilitating "interaction among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks", while complementing each other.
Squidoo is "millions of useful, fun pages built by real people. Like you."
Pinterest allows you to "Save all the stuff you love (recipes! articles! travel ideas!)"
If used together wisely, Squidoo and Pinterest can come together quite nicely for a Squidoo lensmaster to form a synergistic union with benefits (web traffic and exposure) that outweigh belonging to one or the other alone.
So what I will be doing in this lens is simply showing you how you can 'marry' your Squidoo lenses to Pinterest and reap the rewards of a fruitful flow of internet traffic to your Squidoo lenses.

How My Social Media 'Match-Making' Career Began
About a year and a half (1 ) to two (2) years ago, when I began dabbling with the idea of writing to receive payment as I watched my financial resources dwindling due to lack of permanent employment, I came across two (2) websites that really peaked my interest - Squidoo and Pinterest.
I joined both communities but focused more attention on building Squidoo lenses since Squidoo paid its members (lensmasters) for lens creations based on lens ranking (tiered appearance on Squidoo platform), amazon sales generated by the lens, text advertisement (ad) links associated with the lens and a small contribution from the community ad pool.
Once my collection of Squidoo lenses reached sixty (60), however, I began searching for a way to attractively group my lenses together while summoning traffic from other websites to my lens creations. During my journey on Squidoo, I had seen many lensmasters create what they called a ‘lensography’, which is a collection of lenses grouped by similar subject, topic, category or area of interest, but I wanted something more.
I revisited Pinterest and was pleasantly surprised by the ‘facelift’ they had given the website. Then the idea of ‘marrying’ my Squidoo lenses to Pinterest ‘tickled’ me and so began my Social Media match-making career. Interesting, huh?
How Does this 'Social Media Marriage' Work?
Well in my mind, Squidoo is the ‘social media wife’ who is busy creating children (lenses) and nurturing them (updating lenses and creating new lens formats) while her ‘social media husband’, Pinterest, provides shelter for his wife (Squidoo) and children (lenses) under one roof (Pinterest). (I am talking traditional family of course and don’t smack me for gender bias or stereotyping of roles.)
In a traditional family, each child often has his or her own interests and hobbies. Similarly in Pinterest, one is able to group or ‘pin together’ Squidoo lenses of a similar nature in one particular place - called a ‘Board’ - and which can be seen at a single glance by visitors.
Each Squidoo lens that is uploaded on Pinterest would be considered a ‘Pin’ and each Pinterest ‘Board’ is comprised of one (1) or more ‘Pins’.
The accompanying photo in this section gives you a screenshot of some of my Pinterest Boards which I created using my Squidoo lenses.

How Can a Squidoo Lensmaster Gain More Exposure and Create More Web Traffic/Internet Traffic with Pinterest?
Below is a sequenced listing of things that you can do and how you can go about making that Squidoo-Pinterest marriage generate more web/internet traffic for you:
1.If you are not already a member of Pinterest, you can begin by creating an account in order to Join Pinterest .
2.Review all of your Squidoo lenses and start organizing them around common themes, ideas or subjects. (These various themes/topics/ideas/subjects will act as the ‘holding bay’ for your Squidoo lenses).
3.Once you have your Pinterest account, begin creating ‘Boards’ to hold your various collection of Squidoo lenses. (Each ‘Board’ would represent a theme/topic/idea/subject for a group of Squidoo lenses).
4.Other Pinterest members and/or visitors who are interested in your Squidoo lens topics will either:
a. ‘Repin’ your lenses to their Pinterest Boards; or
b. ‘Follow’ a Pinterest Board of yours, which houses a collection of your Squidoo lenses on a particular theme/idea/subject.
c. ‘Like’ a Pin yours.
d. 'Email’ your pin to a friend or friends with a comment.
e. ‘Share’ your pin on their public Facebook profile or with their Facebook friends.
5.‘Repins’ of your pinned lenses in Pinterest will place your Squidoo lenses in easy reach for others when they want to revisit your lens(es) and all of their ‘repins’ will be linked back to the original source – YOUR lens URL on Squidoo.
6. ‘Follows’ of your Pinterest Board also create potential future traffic since those persons are saying that they like the Squidoo lenses that you have pinned on a particular Board so far and that they would like to be alerted when you pin new Squidoo lenses on that Board related to that particular theme/topic/idea/subject.
7.A ‘Like’, ‘Email’ or ‘Share’ of your Pin improves its visibility within Pinterest and creates limitless exposure opportunities, since the persons with whom your Pin was shared by email and Facebook could in turn like and share your Pin.
Don’t wait for Seth Godin (Squidoo Founder & President) and Ben Silbermann (Pinterest CEO) to ‘arrange’ a marriage between Squidoo and Pinterest. Now you know how and have all the right tools to make a happy social media marriage between Squidoo and Pinterest. Happy Pinning!
How's Married Life for the New Couple (Mr. Pinterest & Mrs. Squidoo) ?
When I originally created this lens (article) back in January 2014, Squidoo and Pinterest weren’t married as yet.
They married later that same year, though, and they currently have 30 very attractive and interesting children - Squidoo-Pinterest Boards - which I am delighted and excited to introduce you to today.
I will also share with you 5 of MY FAVOURITE Squidoo-Pinterest Boards below:
