Why I Scrapbook-A Personal Look At My Hobby
Scrapbooks- Creating Family Memories
Scrapbooking has been in my blood since I was a New Jersey girl. I had always loved coloring, designing and making books of stuff that I had collected. When the grandchildren started coming, I realized that the need to preserve all the memories our family was making together was now a passion. I gradually started putting together the pictures of our family on very basic scrapbook pages, but I was getting things together and it became my newest hobby. Being a member and supervisor ina national scrapbook company, helped me spread my passion for preserving family memories. Circumstances caused me to move in a different direction, but I kept my passion going, making scrapbooks professionally for a number of years. Now. I am on Squidoo and reaching a larger audience, sharing my knowledge, teaching and showing everyone how easy it is to preserve your family memories for the generations to come.

All Of Us Make Memories Every Day !
Beyond Our Phones- Where Do We Preserve The Days Of Our Lives?
Every day of our lives we create a portion of history in the generations of our families. Lots of people use their cell phones to take pictures and post them on social media. And while I do enjoy seeing the pictures of my friends and family on Facebook, those media and our phones are just temporary storage for those special pictures. To permanently record the story of our lives so that future generations will know who and what was important in our lives, scrapbooks are the perfect place. When you scrapbook you are creating the story of your life in your own words and pictures. And who would not want to leave so rich a legacy?
If you have any pictures in old magnetic albums, please make sure to remove them ASAP. The plastic in these albums will cause your pictures to yellow and disintegrate over time. If they won't lift up, use dental floss to gently remove them. Store them in a photo box till you can scrapbook them
Everyone Can Scrapbook Thier Memories
No Artistic Ability Needed
The number one reason that people don't make scrapbooks is that they feel that they are not artistic enough to do their pictures justice. Well, the great thing about scrapbooking is that you don't have to be super talented to create your stories and preserve your memories.
With todays preformatted kits, it is easier than you think to create a scrapbook that will be treasured for years to come. You can simply tape your pictures on pre done pages and place them in the page protectors that often come with your kit. These kits contain everything you need except the tape or adhesive. Often the kits come with an album that makes it all inclusive.
Which isn't to say that you can't let your artistic side come out. But remember, you are creating your memories for your family. How wonderful years down the read for them to see the pictures of your family with the notes and journals in your handwriting ! There are lots of resources to help you take your art farther than you ever thought possible.

Scrapbook Adhesives - What You Need To Get Started
Beyond the paper, you need some adhesives to set your pictures on the paper. You need some adhesives for your embellishments. Each one of these should be in your craft space for all your scrapbooking and paper crafts
Tape runners are terrific to use foe adhering titles. You can also add dimension like glitter with it as well. You can adhere heavier ribbon also
Use a post it note on the back of your pictures to write notes on when where and how was in your photos. If you have groups of photos but can't remember what year they were, just group them by topic. I had a bunch of old photos from Christmas past with no notes, so I simply made a Christmas photo album
Scrapbooks-More Than Just Photos
Daily Journals, Art Journals, Special Events, Idea Journals, Quote Journals And More
It's not just about photos ! Scrapbooks can be a collection of your thoughts. For example, I have scrapbooks with notes, ideas and pictures for my garden. I collect quotes in a quote journal, I do a weekly journal in my Project Life Album. Some people collect magazine articles, baseball cards, postcards and more. These are actually scrapbooks. Art journals, which 2 of my granddaughters and I are working on are also collections of our art as well as our emotions and thoughts. So, you might say that scrapbooks are really a collection of the things that you know, love and want to share with members of your family and others.
