I was born in January 1960. It was a horrible decade to enter the world because all the stress of what was going on in that decade made my parents nuts. They made me nuts with their paranoia and insecurities. I grew up in the suburbs and don't remember much about the 60's except Nixon, Vietnam, and the hippies and drugs. Peace man

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was a kid and didn't pay much attention to politics in those days (although, like everyone else who lived through it, I do remember the announcements in school when Kennedy was shot and the following days) so it was interesting to catch up on the debates and other things that were not on my radar screen at the time.

1960 was an interesting kick off to a memorable decade. I've written about it in my hippie lens and in my novels. I thought I was very lucky to grow up in that amazing decade. I'll lensroll this to my lenses. I also have 1960s hub. If I still have room under their restrictive guidelines, I'll link you over there as well. Thanks.

I was 15 years old in 1960 and can remember that era very well. Especially the Vietnam war, some of my high school classmates lost their lives in that war and in 1966 I watched my brother board a train to join the Army. He was in Vietnam for a year, it was a very happy day when he came home. May God bless our veterans and those serving today. Great lens with lots of information. Thank you.

Born in '51 so I remember a few of the events that you have listed here. Now you have to remember that I was just a kid during the Kennedy - Nixon debate & election - but I wanted Nixon to win because you could turn all the letters in his name upside down and they still could be read as real letters. Gosh - kids now a days know politics - when we were kids - we were kids.
