Best Squidoo Tips

Updated on January 15, 2015

My Opinion About Squidoo

Squidoo is in my opinion the best blogging platform if you want to write about anything you want and make money at the same time. With squidoo, you can write about your passions and your favorite topics of interest. That is what you can do anywhere else as well, but as a member of Squidoo and Wordpress, I have seen a big difference. I have used both blogging sites, and I adore squidoo. Squidoo has many options that other blogging sites don't have and I will show you how to use these to the fullest potential!

I have been a member on Squidoo for almost a year now, and I have learned a lot along the way. I have created many Tier 1 lenses, and I have earned over $2,000 so far. When I was new to Squidoo, I needed free tips, and I found the tips from the Squidoo Community very helpful. I want to return the favor and share my tips with other lensmasters.

I am a teenager entrepreneur on Squidoo. I believe it is possible for anyone to succeed on Squidoo with time and dedication.

What Is The Text with BIG Picture Module - Give Your Visitors Something To Look At

This is the place to show off a big picture. You want to show off a good picture about your topic. The better the picture, the more likely you will get more viewers. Believe it or not, viewers look for that big picture that makes a big difference. I am not a Giant Squid yet, but I have 25 lenses that I am trying to update constantly so that I do become a Giant. This module is very important and should be on the top of your lens.

By the way, can you all please wish me some good luck for becoming a Giant Squid? Thanks.

UPDATED: I am now a Mammoth Giant Squid.

What Are Widgets

A Big Difference

A big difference I have seen are the widgets! Widgets are like your own advertisements! For example, I show my readers some of my other lenses with detailed pictures. For example, you could see the lenses about legos, yugioh cards, and baseball mascots on the first widget. The second widget contains my other lenses on music, the Red Sox, and penguins. Some people who join squidoo like me might still have Wordpress accounts. I prefer squidoo, but I have been working with Wordpress for a year and have an awesome blog about Yugioh Cards. I couldn't just cut that one off of my list since I worked on it so hard. So, there is an RSS Reader Widget that basically shows another blog's content of 3 articles. You can see more of the article be going to the website. So, the last widget shows my Yugioh Philosophy Blog which I update daily. Widgets can show what you like, what you do, and most importantly, other ways that people can find you! For example, people who find my yugioh lens often go to my baseball mascots lens because my widget shows where I am! Get more people to visit ALL of your lenses and ALL of your other blogs not on squidoo with widgets.

Do You Have Too Many Keywords?

There are many easy fixes to an overuse of keywords. Using words like it or they to replace nouns is a great way to reduce the keyword density of your lens. If you wanted to work on a lens about giraffes, and the word "giraffes" appeared too many times, you can use the word "it" or "they" to trim down the number of times the word "giraffes." Let's look at an example:

"Giraffes are herbivores, and giraffes use their long necks to eat leaves on the top of the tree."

This is a good sentence, but "giraffes" is used twice in the sentence. If that keyword is used too much in your lens, you can trim it down like this:

"Giraffes are herbivores, and THEY use their long necks to eat leaves on the top of the tree."

Changing 1 word in the sentence from "giraffes" to "they" doesn't do much for the keyword density, but if you are constantly doing that throughout your lens, you will see changes, and when you click publish, your lens will eventually be published.

$$$ Maker

The Amazon Module is the best way to make money on squidoo. If someone buys an Amazon product from your squidoo website, you get about 50% of Squidoo's Profit for that item. That number usually adds up to 4% the original price. You MUST HAVE a Paypal account in order to redeem your cash! These are some squidoo books on sale. One of these books is free, and usually something free (I know it is not possible for everything) will encourage your customers to come back and buy from you again. Make your prices vary. Right now, my prices are VERY LOW, but on some of my other lenses, some of my products cost a lot higher than $3. The prices all depend on what you sell in your market!

Here are some books that will help you get started and learn more about squidoo!

Are are less than $2 or free!

Why Only Up To 20 Amazon Modules?

Well, you can get around that. You can't publish over 20 Amazon Modules, but you can add a link to an image that takes you to your Amazon Module. Here is an example.

How Do You Like It?

Click on the picture and go to the Amazon link. More than 20 ways to have your viewer go on Amazon for your modules, but you still give good content at the same time and disguise it into a picture that requires a click.

About Me Module

Well, it's About You (Who are you?!?)

Who the heck are you? I don't know who you are, how many lenses you created, or how many lenses you looked at. Don't keep it all to yourself because I want to know who YOU are! I'm not the only one, because EVERYONE wants to know who you are! Do you want to be the person in the photo, or do you want to be known. Yes, I know that most squidoo members use the About Me Page given to them by squidoo and make tweaks to it (the hello world, I can edit this later thing about me page). However, there is a module for that. In fact, if you scroll all the way down (where most people go), then you will be able to see my About Me Page. The About Me Module shows who you are, your picture, how many lenses you created from scratch, how many lenses you commented on and/or visited, and how long you have been a member on Squidoo (as you can see, I joined on Valentine's Day). The About Me Module shows a lot more information than the About Me Page and it is easier to find. I always look at other lenses to see what I need, and the About Me Module was exactly what I needed. Don't miss your opportunity to tell everyone who you are and add an About Me Module to your squidoo lens NOW!

What Is A Text module

Squidoo's Version of a Post

The Text Module is exactly like a post on other blogging sites like Wordpress. You can add a picture if you want, but it is HIGHLY recommended. Having pictures on your squidoo lenses will attract a lot of new people to your site and they will not likely forget about you! The picture on this Text Module makes it more catching than without a picture.

That is what a text module looks like. Without a picture, your text module is just not the same! Also, put good content on your Text Modules because pictures are valuable, but they aren't everything!

The Duel Debate Module

The Duel Debate Module allows your readers to debate about whatever you ask of them. If you ask your readers something like, "Is it colder in Antarctica or the Arctic Ocean," they are able to debate whenever it is colder in Antarctica or the Arctic Ocean. You can debate about anything from Squidoo to roses and all the way to your favorite book. With the Duel Debate Module, you can get a reader's opinion. Guestbook gives you comments about people praising your lens and other things along those terms, but with the Duel Debate Module, you are much more likely to get a yes or no answer from a yes or no question.

Did I Do A Good Job Explaining The Duel Debate Module?

The Blackbox Module

In this module, you can tell your readers important info. The usual white screen turns black, so it catches the reader's eye. The blackbox module is also available in blue, light blue, green, gray, orange, red, pink, purple, and teal. Tell your reader what you want them to know about the topic, but please use it sparingly because it will then lose its effect.

This lens is all about Squidoo Tips-modules, tags, money on Squidoo, etc. As I learn new things on Squidoo, I write about what I learned.

More About the Blackbox

Okay, be honest. The sudden black background instead of the normal white background pops up right at you. Also, you have a limit to 50 characters per black box. I would have added more information in my black box, but 500 characters is 500 characters. I hope you liked the black box module.

How To Make Your New Lenses Get Viewers On The First Day

And Make It Better At The Same Time

Well, there are many methods such as using Twitter, Facebook, and Lensroll to promote it. However, there is an easier method. All you have to do is put your lens in the Critique Me page in the SquidU Forum. Just make sure to update that critique me topic so that it appears on the top of the page. Squidoo members want to tell the reader what's wrong with their lens and how to make it better. So, you have expert squids giving you advice while you get more viewers at the same time!

What Can You Do With The YouTube Module - Broadcast Anything! What Else?

Okay, let's say that your lens is super awesome right now. However, if your viewers can't see what is actually happening, then they might be turned off depending on what you are writing about. Legos don't need too many videos. They just need pictures, but how does a penguin swim? What does the Great Sausages Race in the Milwaukee Brewer's Stadium look like? For these questions, it is better to show the information as well as describing it. Let the reader SEE what is going on!

How do penguins swim with such ease? Well, this video shows you!

Pick a good video because everyone sees the rating!

The eBay Module - Updates and Money

Honestly, I preferred the Amazon Module when starting and I still use it in my lenses. However, the eBay Module updates by itself meaning that your site gets updates as well while you are sleeping in your bed! You also get some of the money if someone buys the product! I am into Legos and have a lego lens. So, I typed in the keyword "Lego Police Car" and eBay brought up live auctions that fit in my key words. The Lego Police Cars are all in good condition and awesome to add to your collection, and that is what you want your other products to be like too.

Amazon Modules give you more money than eBay Modules, but eBay Modules update your lenses whenever someone buys a product or not!

Good Topic (You might want to read this one for exposure)

Help Get Your Rank Low With a Good Topic

Now, don't lie. If you write about a sports team, don't put the topic as something totally different to get more popularity. However, I have noticed something really interesting about squidoo topic selection. Currently, I update my Lego lens the most and its ranking overall is about 15,000 with a category rank (toys, hobbies, and games) of about 1,400. These stats started WAY higher. I remember that when I started, the lens rank was all the way up to about 201,000! Doing this lens made me find an interesting statistic. I started at a 125,328 overall lens rank which is the lowest in my history (the lower the better). Also, on my very first day of writing on this lens, my squidoo topic ranking (squidoo community) is a minuscule 1,251 which surpasses my Lego lens and all of my other lenses as well!

Many people probably write lenses on toys, hobbies, and games. I know that health and fitness is also a very popular topic. However writing about the squidoo community is like the dark horse. In 1 day, I have a squidoo community ranking of 1,251! The statistics are right above. Imagine what could happen in a week? You could see my squidoo community near 500 which makes it more popular, gives me more viewers, and with my widgets, allows people to look at my other lenses as well!

My best lens ranking for 1 lens during its first day was about 150,000. That is a BIG difference!

The Poll Module

This is a Poll Module with a question and answer selection. You can ask any question that relates your topic and give appropriate answers. Polls give more people the chance to interact with you and share their opinion. You must interact with your viewers and they may come back!

Ok, now here is MY question.

Do You Have a Squidoo Lens Under the Topic

See results

The Best Way to Boost Up Your Ranking

Well, the more I write, the higher my topic goes up. However, having an eBay Module also helps out a lot too. eBay Modules update when you are sleeping, and that makes your site update your eBay Module even when you are sleeping. I also saw that my Penguin Lens' Ranking dramatically dropped once I added a Youtube video, and that doesn't even have an eBay Module. It is also good to start with a topic that may not be as popular as others. However, if you know a lot about the topic and believe that you could pull off 7 modules a day for only 3-5 days, then your lens rank will go down. As long as you add at least 2 modules a day, your lens rank is unlikely to go up. However, when you're in the top 100, or even the top 1000 for your topic or overall, you will not gain that much ground because other lens masters are competing for that #1 spot for their niche. So, if you put in the time and effort, your lens rank will soar. If you have multiple lenses, then put widgets so that your viewers see all of your lenses. The more viewers a lenses gets the lower the ranking will be, and in this case, lower is better.

Do All of the Quests

Level Up!

Every so often, squidoo will give you a quest when you level up. At Level 18, you get your first quest on Herman the Merman. For this quest, you have to squid like and comment on a music lens 7 days a week (but only for 1 week). While you do this, you have to create a new lens about music. I wasn't a fan at the beginning, but my music lens is just another way for people to find me! The point rewards are also high. For squid liking all 7 music lenses, you get about 14 points and you get about 28 points when you comment. So, that adds up to 42 points. However, if you succeed the quest, submit it to squidoo, and they approve, then you get 500 points. Yes, I said you get 500 points for your efforts! So, I think that 542 points is enough for you to level up once or twice! Then, you unlock even more on squidoo!

Tell Others!

Do you think squidoo would perfectly fit your friends or do you think a squidoo member needs help? You can tweet about this lens or share it on Facebook. You can also do this to your other lenses as well to get more viewers. Facebook has close to 1 billion people on it, so even if you get 0.001% of those people to follow you, that's way over 1000 people! Other people can use this knowledge and yours as well! Social Media is a reliable way to tell others about your lenses!

The Text List - Show the Main Points

This is a Text List. Providing numbers or bullets will show the reader the main points that you want to express in your post. So, I have a lens on Baseball Mascots. These are the baseball mascots that I have covered so far....

  1. Mr. Met
  2. Phillie Phanatic
  3. Wally the Green Monster
  4. Dinger the Dinosaur
  5. Bernie Brewer
  6. Lou Seal
  7. D. Baxter the Bobcat (or Baxter the Bobcat)
  8. And more!

Text List (continued)

Now wasn't that text list (the numbers) better than just listing one right under the other? You get to show the reader the main points of my lens. I told them all of the mascots I wrote about already so that people know what my lens is about! I think the Text List is a great way to list items, highlight main points, etc. Whatever fits your lens is what goes in the Text List, but do not overuse it!

Don't use that many numbers. This is just to get an idea!

Get More Lenses!

Why do you want to create more lenses on squidoo? Here are some of my pointers that answer the above question.

So why do you really need more lenses?

  1. You will get more points on squidoo each time you start a new lens. You could get up to 100 points just for starting a new lens. You get 20 points for putting up your 1st Amazon Module, so that's 120 points plus additional points along the way. Points give you access to more benefits on squidoo such as a ranks boost, seasonal backgrounds, and more! Points on squidoo are important!
  2. You get to learn new things. I clearly understood what Legos and Yugioh Cards were when I got started, but I didn't understand too much about penguins. I just liked the way they looked. Now, I know that penguins were first discovered about 40 million years ago and the tallest penguins are Emperor Penguins at an average 4 feet tall and they usually weigh 45-99 pounds. You can learn on squidoo!
  3. Squidoo gives you money for your lenses. Let's say that squidoo decided that every lens master gets $10 a month per lens. In this situation, do you make more money with 1 lens or with 7 lenses? Giant Squids make loads of money from squidoo. Well, why is that? The answer is that to be a Giant Squid, you must have a minimum of 50 lenses!
  4. There is one widget that allows you to feature your other lenses on one of your other lenses. If you mainly write about Legos, you can use your other lenses like the Music lens to bring more people to the Lego lens and vice versa. I feature all of my lenses on all of my lenses (this lens has all of my other lenses as widgets. My lego lens has all of my lenses too. That goes the same way for all of my lenses)!
  5. More people will find you since there are multiple sources talking about different topics or similar topics.

More Lenses

YouTube Videos Make A BIG Difference!

YouTube Videos for me are an awesome way to reduce your lens rank by a lot! For example, on the first day I added a couple of YouTube Videos to my lens about Penguins, the lens ranking dropped from 258,018 to 106,342 in one day! I did add good material and Text Modules as well, but two YouTube videos can make all the difference. Now, I am going to show you a video from my Baseball Mascots lens about the Sausage Race in the Milwaukee Brewer's Stadium. Enjoy!

What Is The Link List

This is where you can give a list of links for your viewers to go to to learn more about what you have to offer. You can also add a short description for your short link. Show off what you have to offer. You can put your own links of somebody else's link.

More Lenses

You and I Need Them!

I was looking at people with my same level on squidoo, and the results shocked me. I had one of the lowest lens totals out of everyone in my level and I was a little disappointed. However, that inspired me to create more lenses. I will totally have a new lens up today, and if you want, you can give me suggestions for another lens. I hope to have at least 15 up by the end of March.

Get All of your Lens Ranks Up Now!

Lens ranking is very important. The lower your lens rank is, the more people can find you for your keywords, tags, etc. However, what I realized is that if you don't work on a lens for just 1 day, the lens rank doesn't go up too high. That depends on your lens rank the day before. The highest a lens rank went up for me was 13,000. However, it had a dramatic drop the next day and is now my Penguins ranked 106,342 overall. Then, when I didn't work on my Yugioh lens, it went up by only 1,000 points. Those may seem to be big numbers, but when you work on them the next day, those same rankings go far down. Obviously, if you are under the top 100 in something, you keep on working on that lens no matter what. However, if you have a lens that you really want to boost the ranking of, you can have about 15 modules of videos, text modules, links, and more. 15 modules will bring your ranking way down! You can focus on that lens for 1 day and forget about the other ones (only the ones in the 30,000 range). Those lens rankings won't go too far up. Then, you can go back and do them the next day and do everything equally. The purpose of this is to boost the lens rank of 1 dramatically while the others don't fall into the unwanted territory, they just slightly lose value that can easily be restored by adding modules on the next day! This is a good strategy for those of you with a very high lens rank.

The StickyNote Module

Say something important on the StickyNote Module. This can be about your lens' topic or an important fact. By the way, how do you think I am doing so far?

They are essential

A day ago, I told you how different topics have different popularity. Well, I emphasized earlier that the Squidoo Community was a great topic to get more viewers. Just a day ago, when I began this lens, the Squidoo Community ranking was about 1,200. Now, it is 464 out of all lenses about the Squidoo Community with a 60,526 overall ranking (it more than halved)! Picking the right topic can give your lenses more publicity and ultimately lead to a lower overall rank and topic rank!

A Question For You - What will the next update bring?

Well, this lens has given me incredible results and has a 60,526 ranking far faster than all of my other lenses with a 464 categories ranking which is my low for any lens so far! So, I have come to ask you a question.

What do you think?

Where do you think my ranking for the Squidoo Community for this lens will be tomorrow?

See results

Don't Show Amazon Prices

Don't show them to viewers!

This one might sound odd at first. If you show a product, you might think that the viewer wants to see the price of the product right there! Well, that is somewhat true. However, if you don't show the price of a product, your reader will get curious. What is the price of that box of chocolates? Is is $5 or $10. What if it is on a big sale and I don't know? These questions might pop into the viewer's head, and there is only 1 answer to that the link. When one of your customers clicks the link, they will be immediately brought to and see the real price there! This will probably never happen at all, but let's say that a piece of gum was worth $100. That sounds ridiculous right? No one would ever buy that (some just might once in two blue moons)! So, Amazon has a great way of showing the viewer what else you can get that fits your category. The "Customers That Brought This Item Also Brought" Page helps out. So now, you might find a pack of bubblegum for only $7 and you buy that. Squidoo and you still get some of the money. You might have turned off your customer with a $100 piece of gum, but Amazon gave your customer even more choices!

Short and Easy Lenses

Save Time!

When you have a lot of lenses, you may find it hard to update them every day. I don't find it hard at all with 8 lenses, but I have a lot of time to do these lenses too. However, some people may not have that time to do a well detailed module or something in that nature. This where you can pick an easy to do topic that doesn't require much time, but it gives good results at the same time. The best example of this (out of all of my lenses) is my new Words lens that defines words in the English Vocabulary. So far, I have only done 1 word (as of 2/27/12), but it took me less than 5 minutes to publish that module. Now, I don't want to see people copying my work word for word, but at least you have an idea. I might write a lens about elementary math soon such as 2+2 or 1x12. That lens will be coming up shortly. So, you can write about something that doesn't require that much time at all and still get a lot of modules and a low ranking!

3 Lenses

I just published 3 lenses today. They were on word definitions, peacocks, and mathematics. As you can see, there is a wide variety, and you don't have to go crazy and create 10 lenses a day. Little steps lead to big events!

No Begging

A good tip on squidoo is to never ask anyone to squid like, comment, or visit your lens. Don't go and say "Oh come to my lens!" People will find you either way, and people don't like it when you beg for views. You might turn off some people that would eventually visit your site later. There are hard times in which no one finds you, but if you add good content and a lot of modules, your lens rank will go down and more people will find you. Please, whatever you do, just do not beg someone to visit your lens! It looks bad in your character.

Why Squidoo?

What does squidoo offer that many or all other places don't and why should you join.

  1. A squidoo account is free, and this isn't a 'just your make a post and that's it' type of deal.
  2. Some blogging sites are free, but do they give you money fro your content? Well, squidoo does OR you can give the money to charity.
  3. Free Google Adsense installed for you. You still get money from ads (you share with squidoo), but you still get money and you don't have to pay anything for the Google Adsense for squidoo.
  4. Immediate affiliate access. You don't have to send countless emails and give out a lot of your information. Squidoo is an affiliate of Amazon and so are you. If someone buys one of your Amazon Products, about 5% goes to charity and then you and Squidoo split it 50/50!
  5. Look at the numbering system I am doing right now! This isn't on all blogging platforms!
  6. Adding links couldn't have been easier!
  7. Widgets are like your own ads. Promote your lenses or blog right now. It is an ad that appears at the right hand corner of your lens. However, you are limited to 3. There are also widgets for all of your favorite Basketball teams!
  8. YouTube Videos! How many blogging platforms allow YouTube videos?
  9. Squidoo has a point system and the highest level is 80. The point system gives you the desire to succeed. The best way to get more points is by writing more lenses. Show off your talent and get more points!
  10. And so much more!

How Did Widgets Help Me Today

Giant Squids Anyone?

Bejeezers is a Giant Squid with more than 150 lenses. For a lens, it is very helpful to be squid liked by a Giant Squid. Well, to start things off, Bejeezers squid liked my Baseball-Mascots lens. Am I happy? Oh yes I am because he's a Giant Squid (I would be happy with any squid, but Bejeezers is a Giant Squid). Then, my widgets came into play. When you encounter a Giant Squid, you don't want him to leave. So, naturally, he clicked on my Penguins lens. My Peacocks and Word Definitions lenses quickly followed! So, I got 4 of my lenses squid liked by a Giant Squid on 1 day (probably in less than 1 hour)! I couldn't have done it without my widgets and sharing is truly caring!

Cheapest Prices Lens

My Newest Lens

Legos are the best building block toys in the world and they are the most popular as well. Consumers thirst for the lowest lego prices that the online market has to offer. Well, this lens solves all of those past problems with the lowest prices for the best quality. We should get what we want for a low price, right?

Your newest lens should have something like this as well. The single word "cheap" might get you customers onto your lens. A $10 Lego Police Car with a criminal and a police officer is the cheapest price offered on the online market thus far. Low prices will attract a lot of people! For a lens that has low prices, you might want to show your viewers the prices if you declare "cheap prices" or "lowest prices". If you do not say "cheap" or "lowest price", then I would not show the prices so that more people end up clicking in curiosity.

I still give my readers good Text Modules. A lens with ONLY Amazon Modules will not look too good, but having a few Text Modules will help especially when the limit to Amazon Modules is a small 20.

This method is an amazing and quick way to make a great lens, and there are no limits. The cheapest legos are great, but what about the cheapest books, the cheapest food, the cheapest yugioh cards, the cheapest stuffed animal? There are so many lenses that you can make by using the two words "cheap prices".

My Newest Lens Poll

Halloween Lens

Did I say halloween? Yes I did. This is the best time to start a Halloween lens (it's basically March). Halloween lenses get a lot of publicity and popularity in September, so why not start now? Get your lens rank down to 1,000 (if you start now), and then see where September will carry you. People are still in the mood for a scare even when Halloween is nowhere close. If you want a Halloween lens ranked #1 or something of that nature, now is the best time to do it! When most people write about spring is when you can swoop in and make a Halloween Lens!

Ping Your Lens

When you ping your lens, you have 1 site tell all of the search engines that you have updated content. I recommend Hypersmash.

The link above shows feed shark that I am here, and this lens will get pinged which means a lower lens rank.

You can add this to your other lenses as well!

Next Squidoo Community Ranking

I am honored with the privilege to have a Squidoo Community ranking of 274 in just 3 days. I couldn't have done it without squidoo, and I love what they have to offer. Going back to the poll....

Where Do You Think My Squidoo Community Ranking for This Lens Will Be Tommorow?

See results

First 100% complete lens!

Wahoo! I got my first 100% complete lens (on Leap Year of all days)! The lens was the Lego Station one, and its lens ranking is the lowest at about 10,000. This lens will reach under 1000 very soon (probably tomorrow or the next day). I just wanted to take the time to share this with you. The Lego Station lens carried some of its readers to my other lenses including this one (which is 89% complete). Some of my squid likes for other lenses have come from the Lego lens and vice versa.

Squid Angels

Why Are They So Important?

Squid Angels are top squids selected by the squidoo company that are sent out to create lenses while visiting other lenses in the process. If a squid angel likes what he/she sees, then he will bless it. What is the difference between a squid blessing and a squid like? Well, in an angel blessing, you get a turbo speed boost for that lens for that day only. That is why I emphasize that you MUST put up good content on your lenses. A Squid Angel just found this lens and blessed it. So, it can happen quickly or it could take longer. Just be patient and put up good content, and then a Squid Angel will find and bless your lens.

Underrated Holidays

The best thing to do is to create a squidoo lens on a holiday like Halloween or Christmas early so that you get a low lens rank earlier than other people. However, underrated holidays like Pi Day are not as popular as Christmas. Therefore, you will get low competition compared to if you made a Christmas lens. Besides, now is not a good time to write a Christmaslens (until July, yes I said July). If promoted, underrated holidays will gather a lot of attention, and you can use those lenses to promote other lenses as well!

It's also a squidoo quest.

Make Some Money!

I will be very honest with you and say that I haven't gotten my first paycheck yet. However, what I have heard from other squidoo members is that the lower your lens rank, the more money you make. Also, the more lenses you have, then the more money you make because all of your lenses are generating money for you. Would you prefer to have 1 money generator or 10? That's how the Adsense pool is distributed. With a lower lens rank, more people can find your lens including buyers. Let them buy your products, old and new. Then, you will get more money, but remember, have fun with squidoo.

Google Adsense

Google Adsense could give you a lot of money on squidoo. First of all, Google loves squidoo, and the adsense helps out with that. Second of all, more people are likely to click your ads, giving you more money. Third of all, more people equals more customers for your Amazon products. The first squidoo paycheck you ever get is 2 months after you publish your lens.

I started at around February 14, 2012. So I am wondering if I get the paycheck in April or May. That is my only question about the Adsense, but other than that, I feel confident about another great way to make money.

Do You Need Ideas For A Lens?

Some people might not know what to base their lenses on or how to publish the right lens at the right time. Well, all of these problem are solved in the link below which is my other lens. If you like these tips for having a great squidoo lens and more, then you will love my tips for when to publish a lens, which lenses to publish at what time, and so much more!

Squid Angel Heaven

Squid Angels can decrease your lens rank by a lot, but only if they squid like your lens. Squid Likes have dropped my lenses down by as far as 60,000 points without content for that day! Squid Angels appreciate the time and effort you put into your lenses and reward you with a blessing! So, do you want hundreds of blessings pointing at YOUR lens? Well, 100 may be high, but at this squidoo lens (made by someone else), you will gain access to every squid angel on the web. I found the site yesterday and am now working.

How Do I Get EVEN MORE Squid Angels?

The answer

Well, there are Squid Angels that are also called neighborhood angels. Well, what are these angels? These angels look at other lenses based on a particular topic. Some are as specific as Legos to as wide varied as healthy living. These neighborhood squid angels will look at the top 100 of their topic to make sure there is no spam while liking the best ones in the process. Right now, this lens is ranked at 212 for the squidoo community. When this lens goes under the top 100 (or is the top 100), there are two things that happen. The first thing that happens is that I celebrate. The second thing is that squid angels under the topic "Squidoo Community" will now be able to see this lens and bless it if they desire. So, the lens rank turboboost will help you achieve this goal, but I wouldn't use it on a Squidoo Community lens. A Squidoo Community lens is the best to have because the lens ranking goes dramatically down. Squidoo Community lenses grow fast, so you should focus on using the turboboost on the other lenses instead. In fact, when a squid angel blesses a lens, it technically gets a turboboost. Then, chances are that if you have Widgets for your other lenses, the Squid Angel might bless them too. That method worked for me once, and this was one of my many lenses to get blessed. If you don't get your lens blessed, that doesn't mean you have a bad lens. Remember that.

Make Yourself Known on Squidoo

The worst thing to do on squidoo is make yourself unknown. You won't make too much money off of squidoo if you are not known. Here are some ways to make yourself and your lenses known on squidoo.

  • Update your lenses daily with new content. Updated content gives you a lower lens rank and more viewers.
  • Ping your lenses. are two good sites to ping your lenses. Pinging tells search engines that you have updated your content. One of those search engines is google, who already loves squidoo. Ping as many times as you want because there are no limits. Pinging results in a better ranking and more views!
  • Comment and squid like other lenses. If you leave good comments with good quality, people will come back to you. Saying "nice lens" is not recommended because that doesn't start a topic and doesn't show anyone your character. If you post a comment about the topic that says something good, you will get others clicking your name and looking at your lenses.
  • Widgets, widgets, widgets! I emphasize the use of widgets because you can show your own ads (or YOUR OWN LENSES). If people like your lenses, then it only makes sense for them to take a look at your other lenses, right?
  • Leave a bunch of your lenses (Link List Module) at the bottom of your Guestbook Module. Most of the time, viewers go all the way down to the bottom and then they will see your other lenses. Use those lenses to promote others as well!
  • Twitter and Facebook are good places too. I show a lot of information on my Twitter Page at MarcGuberti about my lenses. Some people click the links!
  • Get the eBay Module. The eBay Module updates 24/7. How many seconds left for a bid? Well, when your site shows that information provided by eBay, your site gets updated. Search engines like Google like that a lot.
  • One of the best ways for Squidoo is to be selected as the Lens of the Day. People look at the Widgets, Link List, and everything else. Some people won't forget your website!

How Does Squidoo Point People in Your Direction

The Squidoo Organization wants you to succeed. They point people to our direction for us as long as we update our content and visit other lenses. You don't have to do these things to help your lens succeed, but they are HELPFUL!

  • When you do some things on Squidoo, you get points, but how do you know what you got them for. Just squid like this lens or any other lens RIGHT NOW. What shows up? Well, you get a +2 (2 more points for you!). Then, go to your Dashboard and then Activities. Find out how you earned your points. I will use my lens for the example. When you get to the points column (or if the points are on top on the Activities Page), then you will see +2 for liking Squidoo Tips by Marc Guberti. Links will appear on Squidoo Tips and Marc Guberti. If you click the links, you will be brought to my Squidoo Tips lens or my bio page.
  • Squidoo gives you free Google Adsense that you both share for a profit (but Squidoo makes more money than you for the Adsense). Who cares about the money (for the example, it wouldn't hurt to make money) having Google Adsense makes Google adore you. Squidoo lenses have appeared on page 1 for their keywords on Google.
  • Squidoo gives you a list of similar keywords so that Google can find you even more!
  • Squidoo offers squidutils which allows you to ping your lens and tell search engines that you have updated your lens.
  • The Amazon Module gives you a lot of money, and if customers like the prices, they will buy from you, come back, and tell others about your lens.

SquidU Forum

By now, I think some of you know about my Lego Station lens. I haven't had the best lens rank of late with that one because it keeps on going up even when I added and published 10 Text Modules. How could that happen? Well, then I realized that I wasn't getting anyone over to my lens (I think I only had 1 visitor that day). This was happening to all of my lenses except the high ranked ones. Then, I decided to make myself heard. I commented and squid liked other lenses, but I was already doing that. I pinged my lenses every time they received an update. So, what was I missing. Well, to be honest, I was missing the most important thing at the time, conversation. I found the SquidU Forum and created topics and posts in the process. You need to tell other lens masters about your lens so that when they click under your name or lens, they are brought over to that area. Every lens master wants to be known, so they comment on the best lenses out there. I commented on the number 1 lens (based on lens rank) so I hope to get some of those viewers as well. It is also good to comment on new lenses since there isn't so much competition. The SquidU Forum has helped me get a couple of squid likes for this lens and others (don't forget about the comments)! SquidU Forum is the best way to get more viewers.

A Good Way To Create a Popular and Amazing Lens

Well, I don't mean to boast, but you're looking at a good example right here. This lens is in the Top 10 (10th place) for the category "More Squidoo Tips." To be honest, I started this lens less than a month ago (I believe I created this lens on February 25, 2012). I've actually had this lens for only 10 days, and now it is the 10th best in its category (LOL). You might be wondering how I did this. Well, as I have said before, lenses with the Squidoo Community topic grow fast. However, if you do a harder topic (like health. I have seen some high rankings. Sports is another one), the best way to get more people is to go to SquidU and tell you about your lenses. You can't except 100 people to visit your lens every day if no one knows where it is. More people visiting your lens means a lower lens rank.

Some people might disagree while others will agree with this statement, "Your topic ranking is almost as important as your lens ranking and helps to promote your lens." For example, I just told you that I am in the top 10 for the category "More Squidoo Tips." If that wasn't an option, then I would be forced to use my other numbers like 109 and 16,212. Now honestly, would you rather compete with the number 10 or the number 16,212. The category number may not get as many people since only people interested in that topic can find you, but when they do find you, your lens ranking goes DOWN, DOWN, DOWN!

Change Your Background

A good idea for lens masters is to change their background based on an upcoming holiday. As you can see, this lens' background was changed to the St. Patrick background. This background won't stay up for the entire month of March, but it will stay up in honor of St. Patrick's Day. There are so many background for you to choose from!

Title and Introduction

These are your most important counterparts of your entire lens. A lens with a big title and a good introduction is bound to get more visitors. For example, my Legos lens used to be called simply "Legos". Then, I changed it to "Lego Station". Finally, to get a good title, I put "New and Retired Legos-The Lego Station". That way, I tell my reader what I am talking about, and the more words in a title, the better. That is why this lens' name was changed to "Best Squidoo Tips" instead of the normal "Squidoo Tips." Now, I tell my reader that they are the best tips out there, and the lens ranking will most likely impress some people as well (the Squidoo Community Ranking). That will help me get more viewers, and lately this lens has been receiving a couple of squid likes. A good title and introduction make a reader decide whenever they should look at your lens or leave right away.

DON'T Give Up!

Squidoo is a great blogging platform that many people use to get money and viewers. However, you have to put in the work and be patient. Even with over 20 lenses on your first month, you could easily make less than $5. During my first month, I predict that I will most likely make about $3-$5. I would be WAY more than happy with anything over, so don't expect squidoo to pay you $100 on your first month.

Here's a story:

Bonnie was a new lens master in April of 2007, and with 30 lenses MADE ONLY $5. In her lens at, Bonnie explains how she was getting ready to give up on Squidoo as a whole. However, she persevered and continued to use Squidoo. Then, in August 2007, less than 6 months after the first pay day, Bonnie made a big $97.80. I wonder how she felt that day (probably overjoyed).

Today, Bonnie is a Giant Squid with WAY over 100 lenses, blesses other lenses as a Squid Angel, and makes a good income of about $350 per month. Bonnie has a lens ranked #2 overall, and she is the community organizer on Squidoo. Bonnie shows the example to NEVER give up when faced with any kind of challenge in life. Bonnie kept updating her lenses and now gets a big reward. That reward TAKES TIME and I have not received that reward yet because I am new.

I will never stop using Squidoo!

I Love Squidoo, Do You?

Another good idea is to write about how much you enjoy Squidoo. What is your favorite module or top 5 and what do you write on Squidoo? These questions can be answered with another lens that you can create. The community looks for a person's opinion. Usually, when someone makes a "Make money online with Squidoo lens," they have the numbers to prove it. I probably could do the same thing, but I don't have the numbers to prove it...yet. So, when you create a lens (about anything technically), the viewer wants to see your personal input.

My Best Lens Ranking

I am honored to say that over time, this lens has given me the lowest lens rank out of my other lenses so far at a firm 8,536 overall ranking. I started this lens on February 25, 2012, and less than a month later on March 9, 2012, this lens is a Tier 2. If you put the work and effort into squidoo, you can share the results that I enjoy now! I already have 2 Tier 2 lenses, and I won't stop there! In order to make the best out of squidoo, you must try your best and do the work.

Your Lens is Worth Money!

Squidutils is a good way to find the cost for your lens. Every lens is worth at least $5 because every lens is special. Some are better than others, but your lens is worth money because of the effort you put into your lens. Every lens in squidoo is worth money, and that is an honor. When you see that price tag on your lens, you will be honored.

Why are they so important?

Tiers are like levels on squidoo. The lower your lens rank, the lower your tier, but you must put in a lot of work to lower your Tier. Why are tiers so important on squidoo? Well, the lower your tier, the more money you get from Google Adsense (paid to you by Squidoo). Here are the tiers.

A Tier 1 lens must have a lens rank of 1-2,000. So, only 2,000 squidoo lenses get this spot. With a Tier 1 lens, you could make a good $25 or even higher!

A Tier 2 lens is also good and a lens that qualifies must have a lens rank of 2,000-10,000. I have two lenses in Tier 2 (this one and the Lego Station), and they can bring in $5 or more. You'll rarely see more than $10 from 1 Tier 2 lens, but nothing is impossible.

A Tier 3 lens has a big drop off after the Tier 2 lenses. Tier 3 lenses make about .31 and have a lens rank of 10,000 to 85,000. My Yugioh Cards lens is a Tier 3, but I hope to make a Tier 2 lens soon!

A Tier 4 lens makes the lowest amount of cash out of all of the Tiers. A Tier 4 lens has any lens ranking over 85,000 and usually brings in only .04! That is ridiculously low. However, because of the low pay, lens masters like me want to make their lenses better and get out of Tier 4. I have some lenses in the Tier 4, but they are newer than my other lenses, so only time will tell.

I have 17 lenses that according to my calculations will be making $14 per month from Adsense for the time being. That doesn't include the miraculous Amazon sales.

Don't have Tier 4 lenses. Go for Tier 3-1 for more pay and a better lens overall. I have 6 Tier 4 lenses (one looks to become a Tier 3 soon, but 6 is ridiculous), and I want to make all of them at least Tier 3 lenses. All of my lenses started high, even this one, but now with hard work and great effort, I have made this lens a Tier 2.

You can be the next person to have their lens become a Tier 2 or Tier 1 right now! Just try your best!

Am I Done With This Lens?

Well, in less than 1 month, I have probably done 3 months work on this lens. I have a lot of tips, so am I done?

NOOOO! I will NEVER be done! You can never stop adding updates to your lens and having people find it. People look for updates. That is why people came back to my blog at Wordpress. You need to have updates and join the SquidU. Your lens will be finished when you reach the bottom of Superman's ice base when you jump off of the edge (there is no bottom).

There are no limits, and don't put limits on yourself!

Get A Good Picture

A big black screen won't do it for your picture. You must have an eye popping picture that is about what you want to talk about. First of all, you need a big picture about what you are talking about. If you can, you should get an unusual picture about your topic. For example, if you are talking about bison, then you might want to use this picture. When on Earth would you see a bison on a cloud? Well, that is how you can catch your reader's eye. You can make a Top 10 weirdest pictures to catch your reader's eye. Just have a unique picture.

Does this picture catch your eye?

How to Make Your Lens Worth A Lot of Money In A Short Time

Well, I went to Squidutils today to find out how much this lens would be worth if I sold it (I AM NOT SELLING IT!), and I was shocked to find out that the price for this lens was close to $70. Meanwhile, it was worth only about $15 yesterday. Well, what was this big transformation? The answer is consistency. Even when this lens was ranked at about 8,400, it was only $15. Now, at a higher rank, Squidutils showed about $70. The reason was that I was able to keep the good numbers up. They average into a week's work of Squidoo and the lower that average is, the more money you can make from your lens. If your lens went down about 50,000 points and is now at 50,000 (unlikely, but possible), your lens value will still be low. So, I would sell a lens once it has had its week's worth of a GOOD lens rank. The visitors and Squid Likes also count.

One of the best ways to get likes and visitors

On Squidoo, we can't beg people to squid like our lens. If I said, "Oh, please squid like......." that's against the Squidoo Rules.

You fill in the dots, but not on your lens.

*Before I continue, I only want you to like this lens with your own will and opinion. I am not begging you to squid like this lens; I am only using an example. I do not want to violate TOS!

Going on, so it is obvious that you can't beg others to squid like your lens on squidoo, and begging isn't good anyway. However, you can share a lens on FACEBOOK and tell people to Facebook like it there. You can post this information on your Facebook Account, but none of your Squidoo lenses. This strategy allows you to obtain more visitors while not breaking any Squidoo rules at the same time.

Why This Lens Now Has The Most Squid Likes Out of All of Mine

I had to put the Squid Angel picture because I have been getting a good amount of blessings as well. There are a few main reasons why this lens has the most Squid Likes out of all of my other lenses. First of all, being ranked in the Top 100 for anything is a huge advantage. Second of all, when I participate in the SquidU Forum, people come back to me. Third of all, I believe that I have given good content which makes people come back. I am assuming that I have been giving good content based on the comments. The more squid likes you get, the lower your lens rank becomes. Now, I am trying something new. There is a page on Facebook that allows you to show off your Squidoo lens, and everyone that is using that page gets an email about the newest lenses. I have about 100 of these emails right now, so it works. Anyway to help your Squidoo lens get known by more people is a good thing and you must act on that idea right away!

Lens Turboboost VS Squid Angel Blessing - Which one is better?

The lens rank turboboost is an awesome thing to unlock on any Squidoo lens. You can use it once on 1 lens early, and you get your first one at Level 20. Don't worry because you get more chances for boosting other lenses with different lens rank turbo boosts when you like them. Well, getting blessed by a Squid Angel gives you a lens rank turboboost. I don't know if the difference (which one gives you the biggest difference), but there is some very important differences.

  1. A Squid Angel is an actual person who likes your lens. When blessed by a Squid Angel, you also get another viewers, and a boost.
  2. Once you unlock the lens rank turboboost, you can use it right away instead of waiting for a blessing before your lens rank goes far down.
  3. You can only use a turboboost ONCE and ONLY ONE lens can be updated with the turboboost. If you unlock another turboboost, you cannot use it on a lens that already received a boost.
  4. There are no limits to the number of Angel Blessings a lens can receive, and you don't unlock them; they come to you. If you don't believe me, then you can see LisaAuch's comment on this lens. She is a Squid Angel who completely agrees with the fact that Squid Angels will find your lens. Who knows? You might be next!

The Best Tags

The more tags a lens has, more people will find your lens through search engines. Like the Intro Title to your lens, a tag can't be too short. For example, let's say you did a lens about Christmas. Okay, there are probably millions of people with the same tag, so in order to get to page 1 on Google, you must compete with about 1 million people (I estimated these numbers). Now, a tag like "The Best New Lego Sets to Get Your Kids For Christmas" would have lower competition. You can slip in age, a specific lego type, and more. As always, this method isn't limited to Legos. You can use this method on Greek Statues (which ones are in Athens) and so on!

I Have An Announcement

With 25 lenses, I am able to become a Giant Squid. I am adding good content to all of my lenses because I want them to shine so that the people who look at my lenses can say, "Wow, those lenses are amazing!" Everyone wish me luck for I will apply to be a Giant in less than 1 week.

Don't Think, But Do

Well, what the heck does that title mean? Well, you're not going to have 1,000 modules on your lenses when you think about it unless you DO it. Let's look at the empire. Does that look like an empire to you? Well, the creator of this empire didn't think of the empire, but he DID the work to get the empire on its feet. If you think about getting it to its feet, then that is only an illusion. Don't think about success, but instead do succeed.

How This Lens Got Awesome Rankings in Under 1 Month

This lens was created on February 24, 2012. At the time of me writing this module it is March 15, 2012. So, it has been less than a month ever since I started this lens. Well, why do I have a lens with a lens ranking of 5,077 (probably under 5,000 tomorrow) and a Squidoo Community ranking of 46? You might be wondering how many people visit this lens. Now, would you be absolutely shocked to know that I have never had more than 20 viewers at the same day (that could change. This module was written on 3/15/12)? Well, if I'm not getting hundreds of people and I haven't had this lens for even a month, how am I doing so good?

Well, here is the answer, and it can dramatically affect you too. When Squidoo members are old and new, they look for Squidoo Tips to make their lenses even better (I still do this as well). So, when you write about the Squidoo Community, that topic's ranking goes DOWN (this must be the third time I said this). Also, being ranked 46th means that there are only 45 lenses in front of yours. You will get found often, and angels will bless good content. I have a 2 or 3 day blessing streak for this lens (thanks :). Those are lens rank turbo boosts from the people that care. You get a lot of neighborhood squidoo angels when you are at the Top 100 for your topic (these angels bless lenses based on topic). So, if you have good content, squid angels will find you, and the lower the ranking, the more Squid Angels will find you.

But that is not it. The featured lens and the about me modules allow you to show off your lenses to all of the people that check out your lens. When I started, my Lego Station lens was the boss in command. Some people that visited my Lego Station lens also went to my Yugioh Card lens, Squidoo Lens, and more when they saw the Featured Lenses Module. So, show off you lenses as much as you can.

Lensroll and Lenslike are some of the places to submit your lenses so that they receive more publicity. 12 people have come from Lensroll so far and 1 person from Lenslike. Twitter and Facebook helped me as well, and yes, there is a Facebook Page to submit your Squidoo lenses to.

There are even more ways to get a low lens rank and people, but these are the methods I use. Getting a low lens rank requires viewers, blessings, promotion through social media, dedication, tag, and more! There is no end to promoting your lens, and there is no end to what we can all do on Squidoo.

The Answer To The Quiz (look after the quiz)

Did this catch you attention? Well, most of the time, the blackbox will get the reader's attention. You can change its color as well, so now it is in a red color. Use it sparingly or else it will lose its effect and be no better that a Text Module. Text Modules are good for content, but they don't have a different colored background, so they won't attract as much attention as the Blackbox. Honestly, didn't the Blackbox attract you?

Background Check

There are times when you must change your background. If your background is about St. Patrick's Day, then now is the best time to change it since the holiday is over. You will be able to see my change right now. However, don't change the background if your lens is all about St. Patrick's Day.

How This Lens Got on Page 1 for Google

It's not as hard as it sounds

As of now (3/19/12 at the time of writing this module), this lens is the first link of the first page of Google. The search term (keyword) is "Best Squidoo Tips". Now, how could this happen in less than 1 month? Well, I checked my keyword "Squidoo Tips" and found myself on Page 2 on Google. Then, I typed in "Best Squidoo Tips and saw myself on the top of page 1. There is a small difference between the wording that can make a big difference in Google. When I put that small word "Best" in front of my "Squidoo Tips" tag, most of my competition vanishes. All of my competitors use the simple phrase "Squidoo Tips", but when I put "Best Squidoo Tips", all of my competitors in front of me disappeared because they use different tags. I will use a quick example. I do a lens about Legos. Will the keyword "Legos" or the keyword "New and retired legos" get more attention. The longer keyword gets more attention than the shorter keywords. However, don't make a keyword that is too long such as "The best squidoo tips that you will ever find on the planet are right here" because not too many people are going to type in that big sentence into search engines. I suggest 3-5 words per keyword/tag.

* Please see The Best Tags module on this lens about how you can make your tags even better.

Yes, It Happened!

Are you wondering when you will get your first Amazon sale? Well, my Lego Station lens got an Amazon Sale on March 18, 2012, which is 4 days after the first month of my Squidoo career. However, the funny thing is that the item that was bought has nothing to do with Legos. I checked the lens to see if I made a mistake, but I didn't. I can almost guarantee that the reason this worked is that either the buyer got curious and clicked my buy now link and searched around. Also, I don't show prices for all of my Legos. When someone clicks on the link, they find the price. A piece of gold is of great value. Wouldn't you want to know how much it cost before you bought it? Well, that might have been the reason why I got the sale, but this happened in 1 month. Imagine what can happen to your lenses if you give them a lot of good content. There is no limit to the possibilities, not even the sky is a limit. I think that there is no limit, and it is exciting to make a sale.

Not showing prices is my best method for some of my lenses.

See How Much Money You Can Get On Squidoo

One of the things that I love to do on Squidoo is to take a look at other people's lenses and see how much money they make now. I was shocked with a few, especially with one Squidoo lens master who earned about $3000 in February. You should give the Squidoo Community a look and see how much money you can earn!

Jaaxy is a great place to find keywords for your lenses. You have 30 free searches on the system, but then Jaaxy gives you the option of unlimited keywords for a fee of $19.99 per month. I am still using the free version, but lens masters have said that Jaaxy is worth every cent. Jaaxy gives you the best keywords that get a lot of viewers and low competition. That is the best way to thrive in Squidoo, find the best tags and keywords. Jaaxy helps you achieve this goal.

Do You Know A Teenager Who Could Use Squidoo?

Believe it or not, I am a teen on Squidoo. I have the time to update my lenses and get A's on my report cards at the same time (my school isn't easy). I think teens on Squidoo can have a wonderful experience of the online industry and make money at the same time. Teens on Squidoo can write about their passions and make money at the same time. They can learn how to write attractive lenses on Squidoo that make their visitors go , "WOW!" You can a href="">click here now to see a lens all about my journey as a teen on Squidoo.

The Coolest Thing EVER To Do On Squidoo

What I always do is look back at my work and smile. I remember and have read my modules that say my Lens Ranking was 60,520 or something like that. I remember being ranked 464 in the Squidoo Community. I even look back to my very first lens about the beloved Widgets. The best thing to do on Squidoo is to look back at your work and see where you started as well as where you are now.

Topics With Low Competition

And How They Can Help You

Now, I don't know about every topic at Squidoo, but Hobbies, Games, and Toys is my main topic. I write lenses about Yugioh Cards, and I wanted to see how they were stacking up against others. It was a close race with some Tier 2s and Tier 3s on their way (one of mine was second best), but then I also checked how Pokémon was doing (I didn't have a lens on those, but I was curious). What I saw was staggering. There were NO Tier 2 lenses and there were only 43 lenses about Pokémon. That told me that anyone who makes a lens about Pokémon has a guaranteed spot on the Top 100. I wanted to be heard, and being put in the Top 100 (well at this time Top 50), it wouldn't be too hard for people to see my lens. I had played the game before, so I knew what I was doing, and the next day, I was delighted to see my lens ranking at about 47,856 and 4,124 in Hobbies, Games, and Toys. However, despite the lens rank, my Pokémon lens (on its first day) was the 5th best in its subcategory (Pokémon). I learned a lot that day. Some topics on Squidoo don't have much competition, and when you see the best lens on that topic at Tier 3, create a lens like that right away. That's how I got in the Top 5 in 1 day.

Day 1 of a New Lens

Okay, you just created and published a lens. Would you like that lens to start out at Tier 3 at around 50,000? Well, you can! All you have to do is tie a lot of content on your first day (10 modules, 7-9 text), and get 3 views. I did this with two of my lenses, and they have NEVER been in Tier 4. In fact, 1 of those lenses within a week is now really close to the Tier 2 spot. So, that's how you do it. Get at least 3 views on the first day and add 10 modules as long as you have a minimum of 7 modules. You can click here to see how one of them is doing or you can click here to see how one of those two lenses are doing. I used this method on these lenses and found a lens rank of near 40,000 on the first day!

Well, on the online industry, your audience can range from parents to kids. That is why it is important to show information and sell products based on all ages. For example, I make a lens about but I know that kids and adults will come here for the facts. That means that I have to make a lens that shows no PG-13 stuff while not having a lens fit for 2 year olds either. On Amazon, I promote a mix of products based on age. I show a Webkinz giraffe for the younger kids so that they have that beloved stuffed animal while I have books such as The White Giraffe for older people. If you have a lens that attracts both parents and kids, then show information that is good for both parents and kids. For example, kids aren't going to look up baby supplies online, but many new parents would look it up. Also, your audience depends on your topic. If you do a topic based on the biggest questions such as "how to raise a baby for new parents" or "how to make money," then you will get a lot of visitors for the long term. Writing a lens about a fad will not attract as much popularity once that fad is over, especially if it is a very recent one. If you want to attract kids, then think like a kid. Kids always look up toys online such as legos and yugioh cards. I should know, since I am one. Based on the way America is eating, a lot of people will become obese, and those people might want to shed those pounds off their skin. So, creating lenses about workouts and losing weight would be ideal for attracting visitors in the thousands (be aware of Squidoo's TOS).

So, who is your audience. Is your lens fit for kids and parents, or just one or the other. I build my lenses to fit both kids and adults, but that is just my opinion. You can either get a little bit of both kids or parents, or isolate one from the other to get a focused number of individuals. Information on babies would get most parents while Beyblade (if it is still popular) would get a lot of kids. The topic that your lens is about decides which visitors go to your lens.

Ages of visitors won't be recorded anytime soon (or it may never be recorded), but it is an interesting statistic that we may never know.

Knowing Your Audience

Knowing your audience is very important. It makes the difference of getting a few visitors to a couple of thousand visitors.

Is Squidoo A Competition

An honest answer

When I first went on Squidoo, I looked at my lens rank and thought that is could be better than other lenses that I had seen in the past. I thought Squidoo was a competition, but I was isolated from the other lens masters. I had never went on the SquidU Forum to see that the lens masters went in this area to give away advice and act like a close knit community. I was shocked, and even though we were playing with the same lens rank scoring, they were all opening up to their advice. It was the SquidU Forum that made me realize that Squidoo is not a competition. Everyone wants to succeed, and everyone wants to help you succeed.

Should I Be Happy Or Disgusted?

I went on Squidoo, but I noticed what could either be a serious issue, a great discovery, or even both. There are so many lenses about coloring books and coloring pages ranked #1-#10 in their topics and in the Top 100. Don't get me wrong, I feel happy for some of the lensmasters, but some of them are just a bunch of links that point to different sites. I was astonished that there are 10 lenses about coloring pages and coloring books in the Top 10. I thought that there should be a varied group of lenses in the Top 10, but I could be wrong. It is an easy way to get into Tier 1, but I don't want to see 2,000 Coloring Page and Coloring Book lenses in Tier 1 because there would be nothing unique on Squidoo. If you want to make a lens about coloring pages or coloring books to get the good lensrank, go for it. I did it myself, but I don't want a coloring page or coloring book Squidoo lens full of links because other lenses deserve those spots. Good content is important, right?

Look At The Topic Before You Write About It

If you see a topic with the 100th best lens at Tier 1 or slightly at Tier 2, then don't write about the topic unless you could bring your "A" game to that lens because you won't be getting the #1 spot easily. On the other hand, the best lens for Pokémon is at Tier 3, so getting a good lens over there in the Top 100 won't be too hard.

Don't have your visitors get stuck in the traffic jam, take the shortcut.

Quantity or Quality

If you had to pick one of them, which one would you pick? A lot of lenses or a few good quality lenses. I thought of this question when I realized in April that only about 35 of my lenses were making any money at all based on lensrank. I was shocked that the other lenses weren't making me anything, so now I am going to update the lower lenses like crazy so that I find 50 lenses giving me .31.

What Is Squidoo

Well, Squidoo can be a lot of things, but it is what Squidoo means in your eyes that matters. This could be an easy lens idea that could easily attract old and new squids that will see a review of Squidoo. What do you think of Squidoo? I think Squidoo is a blogging platform that gives you money and gives back to charity while encouraging lensmasters to create more lenses which results in more production. Squidoo has a nice community in the SquidU Forum, and I haven't found anything like it anywhere else.

When Is The Best Time To Create Lenses

If you want to receive a big lensrank boost early, then create your lens on the 23rd-27th of each month to get a lot of good lens ranks. On day 1 of one of my newest lenses, it got ranked at about 15,000 the first day of a new lens. If you want similar results, post it to the SquidU Forum. The first day always makes a big difference.

Look At Your Topics

I have been searching throughout Squidoo for unused topics that guarantee a spot in the Top 100. I found that the Topic under Amazon Modules had only 7 lenses until I published the 8th one. There was only 1 lens in Tier 2, and the other weren't at 10,001 or anything like that. So, I created a lens about how to use the Amazon Module to get some money. On the first day, with a little bit of luck and the fact that this wasn't a bustling topic, I landed in the Top 3 on the first day with a Tier 3 lens. I hope to get that lens to Tier 2 soon, but I'm not sure if I could beat thefluffanutta who has the best lens in that category. However, I made the Top 3, and that is something to celebrate.

If you're the big dog that produces a lot for your topic, then you're winning that tug of war game.

First Payout Coming Up

The results are in, and I am happy with what I am going to get. This lens and my Lego Station lens both got paid like Tier 2s with $7.84 each. My Lego lens also made sales worth $8.65, and I had a couple of Tier 3 lenses as well. I thought I could barely make it over $20, but with these two lenses alone, I already have over $20. I am excited to get my first payment!t

Breaks Are Necessary

When I have a terrible day on Squidoo with all of the lens ranks, I rarely work on Squidoo right then and there. Instead, I take an hour break, and then I go on Squidoo. When I have a bad day on Squidoo, I focus on all of the bad stuff, and that makes me forget about being happy on Squidoo. Please, take a break once in a while because for me, it has been a life saver.

Look At The Squidoo Community Lenses

Even though I have constructed this lens with some of the best tips around, I still look at other people's tips to get a new perspective. I ask that after you are done looking at this lens that you go back to the Squidoo Community and see some other tips over there as well.

Remember The Ways You Have Made Money

To think I started Squidoo and my making money online journey on February 14, 2012. I would have never thought that I could bring in about $165 for myself within the first 4 months of making money online. $160 came from Squidoo, so I am thankful for their services. I have other methods that make me little or no money as well, but Squidoo was also a method that used to make me little or no money at all. Now look at me. I average almost $100 a month on Squidoo as a teenager. I remember all of the methods that I have used, and I am constructing an eBook about various ways to make money online.

Sell Squidoo Lenses

I have started selling Squidoo lenses right here. I think that selling Squidoo lenses can result in a quick profit. I have my customers tell me what they want me to write about, so I never have to sell any of my original hundred something lenses.

How To Make A Profit On Squidoo

I am a Giant Squid and Squid Angel who makes over $100 a month on Squidoo, and I want to show you how to get the same results. You can learn about all of my methods here.

Work On The Lenses Closest To The Tier Change

Do you have a lens just bumped out of Tier 1, a lens close to Tier 1, or even a lens close to Tier 2? Well, that's the lens that you need to work the hardest on today. If you want that extra payment on Squidoo and more visitors, working on your lenses that are about to make the next Tier is the best way to go.

Using The Power Of Social Media

Social Media is a great way to interact with your followers and get visitors to your Squidoo lenses. I promote my Squidoo lenses on Twitter where I have over 1,000 followers, and I am happy to see the results. I average at least 6 clicks per day through social media, and this has been since August when everyone is away on vacation and not on the computer. I still average at least 6 clicks per day. I track these clicks on which is a very helpful place to go. Getting followers to click on your links is a great way to get more traffic and more quality followers.

Focus on the Right Squidoo Lenses

You must know when to add content to your lenses if you want to get good Tiers. If you have a couple of lenses hanging on or so close to a Tier, those are the lenses you need to work on. This lens is near Tier 2 which is why I need to work on it today. I have also worked on my Making Money with Legos lens as well as my Synchro Monsters lens because they are close to Tier 2 (the money with legos one is near Tier 3 and is in the 9900's). I am also going to work on my Yugioh Cards lens since it is near Tier 1 and my Lego Station lens doesn't look to be near Tier 1 this month. Even focus on your solid lenses because this lens used to be a solid Tier 1, but I got overconfident and thought it could go on autopilot. In some cases, lenses can go on complete autopilot, but it is very rare.

Memory Lane

Always The Right Choice

I decided to take a look at this entire lens. I saw the poll results, comments, content, and so on. Going through memory lane can always reassure you that your lens(s) are incredible. I was able to look back to modules created back in February back when I had less than 25 lenses. I created this lens back when I hand't even made a penny on Squidoo. Now I make over $100 a month, and that will soon become $200 a month. I am very excited with my potential on Squidoo.

Use Your Time On Squidoo Wisely

Everyone's amount of time on Squidoo will vary. Some people can barely get 15 minutes on Squidoo while others get to spend 3 or more hours on Squidoo updating their lenses. When you do have that hour to spare on Squidoo, remember this. Adding 20 modules to 1 lens can get its lensrank to change dramatically. However, adding 2 modules to 10 of your Squidoo lenses proves to be the better method. Even though the change won't be dramatic, MORE of your lenses get quality content which results in more payments. Don't add 20 modules a day to the lens ranked #1 overall. I wouldn't be shocked if that lens wasn't updated so much. That lens has a solid lensrank while some of the other lenses in that lensmaster's account may not be as steady. Don't work on 1 lens without working on a couple of more lenses.

Make A Business Plan

Sometimes, people have good intentions, but they never act upon them. However, giving yourself a goal will make you act upon your intentions which will result in a profit. I always said "I'm going to get another Tier 1 lens this month." However, it never happened, and sometimes I would lose Tier 1 lenses, and some of my lenses in Tier 1 now tend to jump to Tier 2 once per month. Now that I have created my business plan, I believe that I will get more accomplished on Squidoo. Will that happen? We'll just have to wait and see.

The Power Of A Video

Money Machines

Videos are a great way to make money on autopilot. You can put a video on YouTube, apply for the YouTube Partnership, or promote an Amazon affiliate link. However, there is another way to make money with videos...tutorials. I am working on a tutorial video for Squidoo, and I think I could charge about $20 for the video with my best Squidoo tips. This lens is still free, but I am working on videos with even more tips about Squidoo and how to earn a lot of money online.

Remember The Charities

It is good to succeed and make money online. As I am getting more money, I am able to save more of it (and the rare purchase of something), but I never forget charities who are trying to make a difference in the world. I have a 6 year old Shih Tzu who has made a wonderful impact on our family and is treated as a family member. That is why I favor the ASPCA charity fund which has been giving animals new homes for over 100 years. Not only does the public see you as a donator to various charities, you are really making a difference for a charity. Every contribution to a charity, no matter how small, makes all the difference.

Tiers Are Important

As I always say, 1 Tier 1 lens makes more than 50 Tier 3 lenses. At the end of each month, I highly recommend that you focus on updating some of your Squidoo lenses that are very close to Tier 1 so that they can get a head start in the rankings for the next month. I have 2 Tier 1 lenses now, and within 2 months, I hope to have an additional Tier 1 lens. This is a new method that I want to use so that I can be more successful on Squidoo. I want to get 1 Tier 1 lens every 1-2 months which means an extra $50 every 1-2 months. Then, those extra $50's will add up. I want to be a success on Squidoo, and if you want to be successful on Squidoo too, then I would take a close look at the Tiers.

Real Squidoo Statistics

Are you wondering how good Squidoo really is and how much money you could make from it? Many lensmasters can tell you that they make hundreds of dollars a month on Squidoo, but what about the real statistics? How does Squidoo rank as a website in general? Seth Godin, the founder of Squidoo, summarizes in this blog post how Squidoo is doing. According to Quantcast, Squidoo is ranked 50th amount all U.S. sites for traffic. Squidoo gets over 10 million visitors...every MONTH which puts Squidoo in a Top 50 that includes other notable websites such as Twitter, WikiPedia, Wordpress, and even the legendary Google itself. With over 4 million Squidoo lenses, lensmasters have done an amazing job to help Squidoo reach this goal. These are real Squidoo statistics that make Squidoo a site where there are no limits to how much you can earn on Squidoo.

Purple Star!

On September 7, 2012, less than a week after I started school, I got a wonderful surprise. After my Teens on Squidoo lens got a Purple Star, this lens got a Purple Star based on a Squid Quest. This lens is my second Purple Star lens, but who knows what path is ahead for this lens. My Teens on Squidoo lens had a higher lensrank when it got its Purple Star, and now that same lens is in Tier 1 for most of the month.

Sort Modules

Drag and Drop To Sort

Did you know that sorting the modules on your Squidoo lenses could lead to more sales and keep your visitors here longer? On Squidoo, you can sort modules by clicking on the title of a module and moving it up with your mouse. Then, when it is up there, you click apply. In case you didn't know how to sort modules, that's how you do it.

Putting your best content up on top is the main way to make money from sorting Squidoo modules. On March 1, 2012, I saw the results of sorting Squidoo modules. Around that time, there was a new Lego to be released called the Lego Town Hall which was and still is the biggest must-have Lego Set. The Town Hall can connect with the Lego Petshop, Lego Grand Emporium, and all of the others. I put a big review of the Lego Town Hall on the top of my Lego Station lens which is commonly in Tier 1 with the rare stumble down to Tier 2.

Putting the Lego Town Hall review up on top is what made the difference for the Lego Station as a lens. I got 8 sales (on the Town Hall and similar Legos on same days) total, and that number can still rise. Just by moving 1 Lego up to the top results in 8 extra sales that I would never have, and this was during the summer where there aren't as many sales (because I know that you can get a lot of sales during Christmas).

I used a calculator to add the results, and with a 4.25% commission, I made over $70 just by sorting a Text Module and Amazon Module. Not bad for only sorting a module.

When To Sort Modules

  1. When there is a new product on sale. Selling a product that is new and one of the best is the best way to go (just as I did with the Lego Town Hall).
  2. Put your best tips on the top so that your reader stays around.
  3. Putting a Blackbox Module or StickyNote Module in between important details so that your visitor reads what you want them to read.

Don't Get Carried Away

I have shown you how sorting modules has lead to more sales, but it is important to not get too carried away with sorting modules. Sorting modules are what makes your lens looks nice, but if you sort them the wrong way, you can have your visitors clicking the back button right away which is something that nobody wants to happen. Here are some things to avoid when you are sorting modules.

  1. A lens with 2 Amazon Modules in a row looks unappealing.
  2. Don't put 2 Blackbox Modules right next to each other either.
  3. Never put the Featured Lens Module on the top. Then your visitors will leave your lens and go to the other one. Visitors are good, but visitors that don't look at your website or read it are not productive.
  4. Don't put your Twitter credentials or other social media credentials (as well as RSS Feed on top). No matter where you go these days, there is always a sign that says "Follow us on Twitter" or "Like us on Facebook". I am sick of those signs because they are very common and appear before you even see what the user is promoting. Put your social media credentials at the bottom of your lens so that people have a reason to follow you.

You Only Get 2 Seconds To Impress Someone

Make your Introduction long, filled with facts, and give it a good picture that will obtain your reader's attention so that they will stick around. When I was new to the online world, I had no idea that some people would click the back button in 2 seconds without even seeing what other content you had. You might be wondering why you'll only get 2 seconds, and I want to give you a good example. If you have ever driven a car or been in the front seat, it is obvious that the driver is mainly focusing on the roads, other cars, maybe a GPS, intersections, turns, and everything else concerning the road. On the highway, companies like Coca-Cola promote their services or logo. The driver has at most 2 seconds to look at the sign and decide whenever or not it is useful. Then the driver has to focus on the road again. Think of your Squidoo lens as one of those advertisements in the middle of the highway and ask yourself, "Are people going to look at this, or are they going to drive away without a care in the world?" Make sure that your visitors stay on your lens for a long time.

Special Gifts For Certain Reasons

Recently on Twitter, I received my 1,500th Twitter follower (although the stats would beg to differ, I did get my 1,500th follower). This follower asked me for tips on making money online since he was my 1,500th follower. While I wasn't expecting something like that to happen, I shared with him my Making money with legos lens which shows people how to make money by selling Legos. Then, I thought of an idea. I could give out special rewards that don't require too much work in my part. I think interviewing me and asking me some questions is a great way for me to give you tips and get more promotion. I could do this when I get my 2,000th Twitter follower. Once I get the follower, I will give that person a small reward. With Christmas coming up, this is a great way to keep your fan base strong.

Wish Lists Don't Have To Go Unnoticed

Would you like to get a Tier 2 lens each time you made a wish list? Now you can! It may be hard to reach Tier 2, but I have created a Squidoo lens about my My Lego Wish List which has been very close to Tier 2. All I do is make an online wish list, give my visitors reasons of why I would want the set, and then I do an Amazon Product Spotlight Review. Since I most likely won't get more than 20 Lego Sets for Christmas (because that could be very expensive), I don't need more than 20 Amazon Modules which allows me to list enough Legos for my wish list. I'm also going to use some of my Squidoo earnings to purchase another Lego. At the same time, I'll probably be getting more sales from my wish list lens. I should have done this every year!

Skype is something that you must have in order to succeed even more online. Skype allows you to talk to people by accepting calls. Then, you get to see their face, and you can engage in a conversation. On the first day of using Skype, I saw the possibilities. For example, someone could charge $20 for a Skype about Squidoo tips or even $300 for a Skype about Twitter and Facebook. Skype has a lot of possibilities, and if you know what you're talking about on Skype, chances are that your customer will come back, buy your products, and do more Skyping with you. I see a lot of potential with Skype because people who want to make money online want a 1-to-1 tutorial on how to do it.

Check Your Bio

Be sure to check the bios of some of your lenses once in a while especially if they are outdated. Does your bio say that you've been on Squidoo for 1 year while you've really been on Squidoo for 2 years. Changing your bio is also just as good as adding a module to your lens and giving it content. Make sure that your bios are nice, sweet, to the point, and accurate because when you created your lens, you were new, but 3 years later, you won't be new, so don't forget to update your bio.

Believe In Comebacks

Comebacks are possible in anything. Just ask David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals who were a strike away from losing the 2011 World Series twice in Game 6. David Freese was the hero of St. Louis with a triple and home run, and those 2 hits resulted in a Game 7 which the Cardinals won. Game 6 is arguably one of the best games in baseball history, and Game 6 proves that comebacks are possible. However, baseball and sports in general aren't the only places where we see comebacks.

Making money online can provide its disappointments, but more importantly, the comebacks. This lens is a very good example. My Best Squidoo Tips lens jumped to Tier 1 in April, but in the end the monthly average was 3,414. After that, this lens went for the worse. While I continued providing Squidoo tips as I do today, this lens literally jumped up to Tier 3 in May, and I only got about $0.50 while a month ago, I thought this lens could make me $50. After 2 months in the 6,000s, this lens went back up to Tier 3 again, and that was very unpleasing. This lens eventually returned to an average lensrank of around 6,000, but this month, I expect this lens to make over $50 for me this month's payout. I have been waiting for this goal for 6 months where I would see this lens in Tier 1 and in the Top 20 for the Squidoo Community. Unlike in April, this lens is heading in the right direction, and with a monthly average near 2000, I can be assured that this lens will remain a Tier 1 especially because this lens is getting a lot of traffic. I will make sure that this lens remains in Tier 1 for a long time because I know what it feels like to lose a couple of Tier 1 lenses on the same day, and it hurts.

Right now, I have a lens in Tier 3 that was a Tier 1 lens just a month ago. I hope that that lens returns to Tier 1 whenever it takes a couple of weeks or a couple of months. The comeback is possible for anyone, just like it was for David Freese and the Cardinals.

My Own Blog

I can't wait for the day where people will type, and see a lot of posts. I have not accomplished this yet, but I am well on my way. I am still more than happy to use Squidoo and Wordpress, but creating my own blog with my own URL will be incredible. It is great to create blogs on Wordpress and lenses on Squidoo, but having your own blog gives you a priority, and we all work well at our priorities. Squidoo is still my main source of income, and I will still be updating my lenses.

My eBook about 25 Honest Ways To Make Money Online will also be released shortly.

Make A Goal

On Squidoo, the best way to succeed is by creating goals. How much money do you want to earn per month at a certain point? My goal is to make over $1,000 a month on Squidoo before summer starts. If I make that much money before the summer starts, I can then work hard during my 3 month break from school and try to earn over $1500 or even over $2000 a month with Squidoo. I do believe in growth, but in order to achieve that growth, goals must be set and reached.

Each One Is Better Than The Last One

When I started using Squidoo in February, I wasn't getting any sales. Now that I have experienced my first Christmas holiday shopping benefits as an amazon affiliate, I am beginning to see a lot of money coming in, not just from the Tiers. At the moment of writing (as of 12/04/12), I have a commission of over $150 from Amazon purchases alone. That doesn't include the Tier payouts in which I have at least 1 Tier 1 lens and 4 Tier 2 lenses every month. I can only imagine that if I continue working hard how much better the 2013 (the world is not going to end) Christmas will be. I'll be able to get even more sales! Each month is better than the last month, but only with some work in between.

The Lego Death Star is up here because I got 2 sales with the Death Star. Those 2 sales from the Lego Death Star have added up to over $40 alone. They give me the highest commission out of any of the products I sell.

Lenses I Must Work On Now

The key word is now, but it is important to create a label for these lenses. Not creating a label for the lenses you really need to work on can result in people forgetting which lenses they really need to work on. This lens is in fact has that label, and I have been adding more content to this lens. My main goal is to get this lens to a Tier 2 and maybe even a Tier 1 (although when I do get this lens in Tier 1, it usually goes back to Tier 3). This method has proven to be successful in the past, and it continues to be very beneficial today.

If You Aren't Getting The Results You Want

If you aren't doing as good as you hoped to do on Squidoo, chances are that you need to spend more time promoting and updating your lenses. Lensranks bounce up and down for everyone, and the best way to get lensranks you want is to put a lot of work into your Squidoo lenses. If you feel like you are updating your lenses and are doing a good enough job but still seeing bad lensranks, I recommend looking at the character count for each module that you use. Try to get that character count as high as possible and fill it with quality content that you know your visitors will love. You can't build a Squidoo lens with only a sentence. You need many paragraphs and modules to make that possible. If you aren't getting the results that you want on Squidoo, I recommend trying those methods and then you will get a lot of great results.

When To Create A New Lens

There are a lot of people who want to create a new lens, but there is a formula to earn the most money from these new lenses in a shorter amount of time. At the same time, your older lenses can also be very successful and lead to a lot of money as well. A good rule of thumb to follow is to create a lens towards the end of each month. A lens created at the end of December will earn money from ads at around March assuming that the lens was in Tier 3, 2, or 1. If you create a lens at the beginning of January, that lens won't get paid until April. Creating a lens on the last day of the month or the first day of the month can lead to a huge difference. I try to only create lenses in between the 22nd and 28th of every month.

Lens of the Day

I got Lens of the Day on January 29, 2013, for my lens How to Do a Lego Animation. This lens went from 22 visits in the past 3 days to over 700 visitors in a single day just because it became the Lens of the Day. Don't be disappointed if getting Lens of the Day takes a long time. It took me almost a year to get my first LOtD (my 1 year anniversary on Squidoo is Valentine's Day). There are only 365 (and sometimes 366) Lens of the Day awards that can be given out in a single year, and with millions of Squidoo lenses, competition will be hard. I will soon create a lens about how you can boost your likelihood of making your lenses become the Lens of the Day.

How Does The SquidooHQ Forum Help?

The SquidooHQ Forum is a great place to get a lot of visitors on Squidoo. Lensmasters visit other lenses, promote their lenses, and engage in conversation in the SquidooHQ Forum. You'll be able to meet a lot of people and promote your lenses at the same time. There will always be someone in the forum who decides to visit one or some of your lenses.

Save Lens Text To Your Computer

Did you know the new Workshop layout gives you that option. I am starting to exercise that option. I want to see the word count of my lenses, where I need to improve, and where I have done a good job. More importantly is that you can store your information for a lens in the event that it accidentally gets deleted. I got the coding of this lens, and I am impressed with how Squidoo is able to manage all of our lenses. I did coding for about a week, so I know how hard it can be.

Get A Stronger Influence On Twitter

When a Squidoo lens is tweeted out, chances are that it is better to have 2,000 people who see that tweet than to have only 1,000 people see that tweet. I have been working on raising my follower count on Twitter very high through various methods (buying Twitter followers is not on my to-do list). I have gained hundreds of followers in the past couple of days, and I believe that will result in some of my Squidoo lenses getting more traffic. If you are trying to find out a way to get even more traffic to your Squidoo lenses, then I recommend giving Twitter a try.

Focus On Some Of Your Lenses

I recommend focusing mainly on some of your lenses so that you get more Tier 1 lenses. Getting more Tier 1 lenses means a higher payout, and then when those lenses get good lensrank from sales automatically, you can work on some of your other lenses.

Squidoo Made A Really Good Move Involving Amazon Modules

Squidoo made a post on the SquidooHQ Blog that tells lensmasters they will be testing multiple options for Amazon to see which products sell. This will increase revenue for everyone in the long run which will be very beneficial. Squidoo also made some changes to the Amazon Module. While all of the changes are listed on their blog, the one change that jumped at me was no more "Let Amazon Pick" feature. I am happy that Squidoo retired this option because now lensmasters have to choose products to recommend instead of having someone else do the work. Choosing "Let Amazon Pick" could sometimes lead to the wrong products or very expensive products being promoted instead of the desired product.

Arguably The Next BIG Thing

If you made it this far on my lens, you will learn about the next big thing which is known as Kleverbeast. Lensmasters are always looking for ways to promote their lenses. Some lensmasters use Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, the Forums, or even a newsletter, but what about apps on the Android, iPhone, and iPad? That's where Kleverbeast comes in. While most coders charge 5 figures, Kleverbeast doesn't even cost $100, and from many reviews, Kleverbeast is compared to the WordPress and Instagram of making iPhone apps...easy, affordable, and reliable. If you are looking for a new way to promote your lenses, you should give Kleverbeast a try.

There's The Castle

A successful business is not as hard to obtain as most people think. Obtaining a successful business does require work and sometimes money in the beginning. The best way to get motivation to work on your business (which will eventually lead to your business being very successful) is to look at the picture. The castle is right there; we just have to get there.

How Much Money Do You Want To Make On Squidoo?

This is an important question that only you can answer. While some Squidoo lensmasters make well over $1,000 a month on Squidoo alone, it is important to ask yourself this question. If your answer is $1,000 a month (which is where I hope to be soon), you have to work on your lenses even harder so that you get closer to that goal. While you can only earn so much from the Tier payouts (only 2,000 spots for Tier 1, only 8,000 spots for Tier 2, and only 75,000 spots for Tier 3), there is no limit to Amazon sales that an individual lens could have. Ask yourself how much money you want to earn on Squidoo, and when you do get there, you'll want to do even more.

A Picture Is Worth 1000 Words

A Text Module Can Have 1000 Characters As Well

Squidoo is now attacking spun content so that Squidoo can become an even better site as a whole. With 98.4% of Squidoo content being good, this process will eliminate most of the 1.6% of content that isn't so good. However, I think that we can all write better content on Squidoo even if we are a part of the large 98.4% of Squidoo who does it right. I am now trying to make all of my Text Modules over 1,000 characters long, and I challenge you to do the same. With 1,000 characters, you can say a lot about your lens or a product which will result in more sales or people staying on your lenses for an even longer amount of time. I have started this challenge, and I used 3 Text Modules which means I added a total of over 3,000 characters to that lens. The lens I am talking about is approaching Tier 1 as well (as many of my lenses are), and that push could make the difference between a Tier 2 payout and a Tier 1 payout. Squidoo is a great place to publish content, but if you want Squidoo to remain that way, I highly recommend putting in some more time on your lenses and adding even more content to your Text Modules so that they all eventually have over 1,000 characters. A Text Module with 1,000 characters will most likely have more useful information than a Text Module with only 250 characters. Squidoo is testing many ways to make the site better, but we ultimately decide Squidoo's future since we are the lensmasters who supply Squidoo with its content. All I can hope for is that we all have a positive impact on Squidoo.

Amazon Products On The Squidoo Lens

Less Is Better

If you want to get a lot of sales on Amazon, it is important to promote Amazon Products, but not too much. Lensmasters who have very successful lenses have a common pattern. Their lenses feature a lot of Amazon Spotlight Personal Review Modules and their Amazon Modules have descriptions for each product that are at least 3 lines long. Having less products and more text can make the difference between getting some sales or no sales at all. Remember that your customer can only see the product based on the picture of the product. You have to tell your customer all of the features of that product. If you are able to tell them the features of your product, then you are ready to go. If you can't describe your product, I highly recommend finding a description of the product by searching it on Google but use your OWN words to describe the product.

Put Your eBooks On Amazon

Just like Squidoo's founder Seth Godin, I have decided to publish eBooks on the Kindle. My first eBook is about the various ways I make money online. My goal is to be able to publish 1 eBook every month. This is the first eBook that I have published on the Kindle, and you can expect 1 eBook every month. I will also publish free eBooks in the summer. The best part is that you can sell it on your Squidoo lenses!

Honest Ways To Make Money Online
Honest Ways To Make Money Online

Do you want to make money online but don't know how? If so, then stop now because this eBook contains detailed explanations about how to make money online with many methods. This eBook also contains tips for beginners and a guide on how to have better time management.

Traffic Stats

By looking at my traffic stats everyday, I have been able to identify good months and bad months for specific niches, where my traffic comes from, and how many links are clicks. If you are trying to find out how your lens could get more traffic, I highly recommend looking at your stats. Then you can find out what is working and what isn't working and act upon it.

Why YouTube?

Why Not?

If you are trying to find a way to get more exposure for your Squidoo lenses, I highly recommend creating a YouTube channel about what you talk about on Squidoo. I have received thousands of views on YouTube, and viewers have the choice to look at my Squidoo lenses or follow me on Twitter through links provided on my YouTube channel. I also give some credit to YouTube for my Lens of the Day which was about How To Do A Lego Animation. If you want to get creative with your content, YouTube is the way to go.

The YouTube Module Is Here For A Reason

The YouTube Module is not something to forget about. The YouTube Module is one of the things the inspired me to create my own YouTube account. The YouTube Module allows you to promote your own videos on your Squidoo lenses. I have done this multiple times with some of my Lego animations, and one of my lenses about Lego animations won a Purple Star and LOtD! Don't take the YouTube Module for granted because it can be a good tool to get a lot of traffic. These are some of my Lego animations.

How To Get More Tier 1 Lenses

Focus on getting more Tier 3 lenses first. All lenses started out as ideas that we carried out. They might have started with a lensrank of 10,000 or a lensrank of 100,000. Either way, getting more lenses to Tier 3 will eventually result in more Tier 1 and Tier 2 lenses. Two of my lenses constantly had the same lensrank for an entire month (both were close to 30,000 each with little change). One day, those lenses had dramatic changes and went all the way to Tier 1. Those two lenses are now ranked closer to the hundreds as I write this. If you get more Tier 3 lenses, people will eventually visit your lenses resulting in a spike of traffic that will make the difference between a Tier 3 lens and a Tier 1 lens.

I tried but I still can't get a Text With Big Picture module at the top of my lens. I think you have to have an Intro module at the top. Even though a newcomer to Squidoo might think that buying eBooks about How To Squidoo will tell them everything they need to know, they mostly don't, and you can get the same information from other sources for free in any case. The Blackbox module is good for making things stand out - but keep it short and sweet - you don't have to use all 500 characters and end up with a screen full of large white text on a black background.
