Sing a new song and make it an upbeat, happy song. If you feel uncomfortable singing out loud, sing along with your favorite artist.
Put on a smile and focus on making someone’s day with a,"hello, how are you?” The more you smile and get your mind on another person, the better you will start to feel. This takes practice but it also depends on how severe your “life” happenings might be as to how bright your smile will glow.
Love a pet because they will love you back with an unconditional love. You can express your thoughts to them and they will listen. Pets can be sensitive to your moods and they can sense it when you are sad, angry, or happy.
Recite a Psalm as the Book of Psalms is a place to go for encouragement for whatever situation you encounter. While most people will recite Psalm 23 (The Lord is my shepherd) in times of trouble, I recommend Psalm 46 as a powerful encouragement to read.
Hug a friend and make two people happy. We need the contact and comfort of our friends on a regular basis but even more when trouble comes our way. There is power to heal a hurting heart when someone who cares touches or hugs you.
Learn a new dance to lift your spirits. Dancing can help your mind, your body, and your outlook. You can learn a new dance online in the privacy of your home. There are a lot of free dance lessons and some “you can learn to dance” DVD’s you can buy.
You can volunteer because when you volunteer your time you are helping someone else. In turn, the self-satisfaction that you feel when you've helped someone is a recognized health benefit. Most people who volunteer on a regular basis say that they receive more than they give.
Set new goals when bad things happen because this gives you incentive and hope. When you have hope, you can do most anything you need to do to accomplish your goals. You have a reason for your feet to hit the floor everyday when you have goals to meet.
Thank God in times oftrouble because it has been found that a heart of gratitude is extremely valuable to your well being. While you are in the middle of your troubles, I believe God will give you blessings when you are grateful to Him.
