1001 Islands on a River.
These are the Cruise Boats on the River taking the visitors.
1864 Islands on the River.
I saw this Island with my wife on 11th August,2013.I would like to see some good Huber comment and use the pool to vote. This is an island with 1864 islands and no body could tell me how many Castles or homes are on this Island and such an heritage island with glorious rich past content has no interest to attract visitors from all over the world surprises me most.
People come and see Niagara Falls and go but do all the people who visit Niagara Falls know where that water which drops down goes flowing be four it reaches the sea and where exactly it goes and merges in to the sea. This island is a water wonder world of more than 1864 islands on the River St.Lawrence which takes the water flowing from the Niagara Falls in to the Atlantic Ocean in the East.Cruises leaving from Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Gananoque, Ivy Lea and Rockport tour the central part of the 1864 Islands region of the St Lawrence. Many of these cruises offer a stop-over at historic Boldt Castle on Heart Island. You will enjoy this tour on the boat which perhaps takes up to 300 people on the boat or you can say a medium size ship with a good Captain cruise's this ship with state of the art equipment and a knowledgeable guide who goes on giving you the history of the island and its formation. You will also understand the memorable castles and beautiful countless homes its builders and the infrastructure that goes in maintaining the island and castles and homes.
In the water wonderland that is the 1864 Islands, it’s not surprising that one of the most popular attractions in the region is the scenic cruise – a real “must see” on any visitor’s trip. The region’s many boat lines offer a variety of cruises, typically ranging from one hour to three hours in length. You can choose to travel on a modern glass-topped catamaran or triple-Decker cruise boats, paddle-wheel riverboats or even an historic 1929 vintage wooden cruise boat.Any ship is as nice as the other ship having a restaurant and Bar with books and a gift corner for visitors to pick their sovereigns if they can spend few dollars which will end up in your show case.We could not see the Boldt Castle. The castle has on Ground Floor:-

The Islands Church.
The “Hennery,” or Dove-Cote, was the first structure built on the island.
The bottom portion of the tower houses an elevated water tank which supplied water to the island structures. It was topped with a dove house – where they collected fancy fowl. It was also the first of many towers that were to rise on this and other of the nearby islands.
You will know who was the person who built this beautiful castle and why did he build it. You will be surprised to know it was the world famous George C.Boldt, a millionaire and proprietor of world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. This full size Rhineland castle was built in Alexandria Bay which is a beautiful and grandiose structure built in to show his love for his wife Mrs.Louise.
Mr.George C. Bolt stopped construction of the castle as tragedy struck his family as his wife Mrs.Louise.Mr.George never came to visit the castle or maintain it and everything went just like a
person stopping his hose being constructed just because his wife died. This was not a house it was a full fledged castle costing millions to complete. This half constructed structure was just left for 73 years for any one to go there and do what ever they wanted to do.It was just like the Indian ' Taj Mahal " half constructed.Prominent persons administrating the island took over the property and completed the construction.Knowing this history I did not enter this castle with my wife who was with me along with my daughter and her husband.I did not like to inhale the bad luck in the air inside the castle.
