A Spelling Bee in Oujda, Morocco

Four students who belong to the English department decided to organize a Spelling Bee to encourage others to be more active!
The participation was open for all students (All semesters).

Asmae Ourkiya, Ali Choui, Nabil Heddad and Abdelali Bouameur were the hosts, organizers and judges of this competition which took place in the American Corner Oujda Saturday 30th November 2013. The call for participation was announced a week before, and 20 students confirmed their participation.

The day of the competition which started at 3:00 pm, the judges sited again the rules of the game:

-Each participant should listen carefully to the word, ask to hear it once again if necessary, and write it in capital letters on a board that was given to him.
-The judges determine whether it is wrong or correct, and the word is shown on the screen (A power point presentation was used).
-The participant is eliminated after making 3 mistakes.

The spelling Bee was divided into 3 levels: Beginner, intermediate and advanced. The challenge was big and all participants had a great will to win.

At the end, after only three participants remained, the challenge got higher and they became more competitive! Finally, a student from the 3rd semester got the 1st prize.

Everyone had so much fun, all the attendees were satisfied and thankful for learning many new words, and were happy to enjoy a sweet buffet.
