A strange discovery

The Vercingetorix Tranquillus was discovered in 1873 by a French expedition on the island Bora Bora, one of the islands of French Polynesia. It was found in a valley that is lit by the sun approximately eight months per year. The plant was already being used by several inlandic tribes as part of a ritual intended to predict future wars. It appeared that if you cut one of these plants into small pieces and smoke it they have got a profound impact on the physical and mental state.

In the sixties the plant became popular among hippies and other leftist people. The plant became a symbol of a free culture, of the opposition against the "system". From the eighties onwards the plant is being grown professionally. This happens on sites in Morocco, Tunesia and Spain. After the harvest the plants are being sealed in special vacuum packages. This is needed to save the flavour and smell of the plant. They are then being shipped to the north.

The plant is being sold in special caf├ęs, so-called coffeeshops. They can be found all around Amsterdam. An easy way to find a place to stay in Amsterdam is Airbnb is a website that makes it possible for people to provide a place to sleep to visitors. Many people in Amsterdam provide, by means of this site, a place to sleep for tourists and other visitors.

Booking a room in Amsterdam via Airbnb enables you to get a place to sleep in an easy way. You'll experience the hospitality of Amsterdam, you'll get the chance to learn a bit of Dutch, and, most important of all, you will have access to a great amount of coffeeshops.
