Tips in having a speech in front of many people

In my experience, getting nervous or tension during your speech is a discomfort. Sometimes, many people forget their message because of pressure. Here are the tips on how to have good delivery of message in front of the public.

  1. Prepare your speech at home.
  2. Do your homework about the event.
  3. Know the crown to where you are attending.
  4. Write it down or memorize it.
  5. Wear proper clothes fit to the said event.
  6. Go early to the venue to survey the place.
  7. Inhale and exhale fully before going on stage.
  8. Walk with confidence, smile.
  9. Sometimes, your hands shiver, that is just fine from the beginning so don't worry about it, go on.
  10. Start with a soft but modulated voice.
  11. Greet with graceful heart.
  12. Finish the speech with full gladness in your heart.
  13. Walk out like a star.

My challenge on high school alumni speech

It is so nice having been appointed as the one giving a message to our high school alumni homecoming program. This is a big event so I have to make my perfect message to my classmates and batch mates.

I have made my message shorter but full of meaning. I have thought much each and every word to make sure it is emphasized through reading in front of the alumni homecoming reunion. So, here it is:

Think of the crowd and the area to lessen tension.

A formal crowd should be respected and you should adapt to it immediately.

Alumni Homecoming Message Sample Speech

Tonight, from where i am stand, i can see many faces of various ages, happy, beautiful. And looking around further, i could not help but feel a bit of nostalgia, some sentimental longing, a wistful affection for the past. And i know, you feel that way too, for that’s what our school alumni homecoming is all about.

Fellow alumni, members of our school faculty, our own and dearly beloved director, invited guests, friends, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant evening greeting!
It’s quite true that, seen from our present point of view, our school certainly belongs to the past but dreamers as we are, we believe that somehow, something of our high school life needs to be brought to the present. Something timeless and fresh like the songs we used to shout or stories we used to tell if only to remind us that our school will forever be a part of our growth, a part of our life and then celebrate what was good about it.

Let tonight's affair be an opportune time for classmates from way back, when to reminisce the joys and the sorrows, the tears and the laughter you had together, and probably share with them the learning, the good things and the fortune which you may have acquired in life through the years.

For this, we thank the silver jubilarians, for spearheading today’s school alumni homecoming, for their time, effort and resources in providing all of us this opportunity to gather and enjoy tonight. I appreciate your spirit and commitment. Let's give a round of applause to our silver jubilarians.

Let’s also thank the administrators, the school faculty and staff for their presence. We must not forget that there is no school without teachers.

The last but not the least our appreciation, our gratitude, to our very own, the one and only school principal for being here. Our celebration would not be complete without your presence. We pray that you will always be here with us every alumni celebration.

However i told them, i have a strong reason why i accepted this task to give you this message tonight – quite personal and self-serving – and i need to say it now. They agreed without asking.

And finally, dreamers as we are, let’s dream and make it happen, that our school, the institution, and the alumni, the association jointly celebrate its golden anniversary come 2018.

Thank you and god bless!
