An Overview of Indian Culture
India is country of rich and unique culture that has been amalgamated with several cultures, languages, religions, music, dance and food. Every part of India reflects a unique way of living and even after these cultural differences in almost all the Indian states people live together respecting each other’s cultural values and principles.
Unlike most of the countries, India has the tradition of joint families where all children, parents and grandparents belonging to the same family live their lives together and the oldest member heads the family. Nowadays due to change in cultural trends, people are becoming more interested towards the nuclear families but the traditional culture of joint families is still alive in most of the parts.
In India, we have a tradition of arranged marriages in which parents or elder members of families of both boy and girl take decisions related to the marriage. Love marriages are also allowed but most of the families prefer arranged marriages. Marriages are celebrated as festival in India with attractive decorations, music, dance and rituals as per the religion of the bride and groom.
Food is an important part of the Indian culture. Every state in India has a different taste a wide range of traditional foods to offer. The preparation of Indian food involves usage of numerous ingredients & spice. Amount of every type of spice used in making a recipe is always considered to be important.
There are numerous such cultural characteristics of India that generates a curiosity in everybody's mind to know its culture deeply.
