Ants Carry Salmonella!!

Updated on July 21, 2012

Ants carry many diseases, I mean just think about this for a second. Ants crawl all over molded foods, dead animals and household chemicals. I never thought these tiny insects could be so harmful, until I read about it. However Carpenter ants don't carry diseases.

I never knew much about ants but I found out tonight that some ants have been known to carry deadly diseases like salmonella and antibiotic- resistant bacteria. This was crazy to hear because I have family an pets that spend allot of their outdoors, and when the weather changes, ants like to find their ways into the house.

Ants used to look so innocent, tiny and mighty to me, ever since I was little. In the coloring books and cartoons ants only steal the food and run away. Advertisement, entertainment and other resources don't teach, often enough, about how many diseases they carry.

Ants are not harmful

I found this answer on a site that contains a couple of convincing facts about ants as well. The link to this site is below.

I guess there is only one last thing to conclude. Not all species of ants are dangerous or carry diseases that may be harmful to humans. It is, however, best to do your homework and find what species of ants live near you and what diseases, if any, do they carry.

Pure bunk and hysteria! The link you posted stares how sterile ants are! We're more likely to get salmonella from a child putting their hand in a cookie jar than an ant!
