Art world,outsiders and insiders

Updated on August 10, 2011

Recently, I learned about a Paraguayan artist living relative close to where I live and I decided to write to her and tell how much I would like to meet her because I admire her work. I attached my blog of step by step in the making of my art. I was so excited to know her, mainly because I thought we had so much in common, even we are from the same city.

When her reply arrived, It was simply cold and direct. She thanked me for my compliments, attached some information on her exposition, gave me some distant remarks and obligatory compliments about my pieces. It was like receiving a letter of polite rejection.

I do not blame her, I blame myself for being so naive. I actually thought that she would like to meet me simply because we come from the same place. My views had changed ever since I would try to make on my own and books will be my fellows on learning more about art and achieve perfection. The whole ideal of finding creative minds to share and debate productively went to the category of fantasy for me.
