Budget Friendly

With the increased prices in back to school products, world recession and tight budgets for families across the world, you can be sure that this guide is completely budget friendly meaning that even if you have less to spend on back to school, this guide will make your money to go further by choosing high quality products at a low price. I have chosen Amazon as a supplier because it is completely budget friendly and has very low prices.

Back To School

It's that time of year again, when parents and students try to buy back to school supplies but don't know where to start. Plus, there is so much to buy from uniforms to lunch boxes to stationery, the list is endless. Don't worry, this easy to follow guide covers it all and will pick out the best and latest must-have back to school items to help you. Every item has been tried and tested by the author so you know what are the top items in stationery, pencil cases and more!

Add a Splash Of Colour To Your Pencil Case!

Casio SL-300VC Standard Function Calculator, Yellow

These cute calculators are also available in pink, green, blue, orange or purple.

If you are looking for a scientific calculator, I would highly recommend the Casio Scientific Calculator. It has all the features of a scientific calculator from pi to trigonometry and is one of the world's greatest. It can be used for a variety of subjects including mathematics, data, statistics, calculus, trigonometry, biology and chemistry. It comes with a solar power function so is more eco friendly but you will rarely need it, if ever, because the battery lasts over a year (and counting). This is a bargain at only $14 dollars.

If you are looking for a more basic version, try the Casio Standard Function calculator, it has all the basic functions of any modern calculator and works amazingly every time. It is practical and easy to use, with large numbering and a 'slant' so it can be used on a desk. It again, has a solar power function in addition with the battery. The buttons are a joy to press, they click and are quite large so you don't press the wrong button.

Or, if you are looking for a more fashionable, colourful calculator, add a splash of colour to your pencil case or office with the Casio Standard Function calculators. They come in a variety of colours including pink, blue, green, yellow and orange and posses the same high quality as their brother, the Casio Standard Grey Calculator.

Pencil Case

For Girls - If you are looking for a good quality pencil case, try the Incology range. They have a wide variety of designs available from spots to stripes to flowers. They are well made and last long. The only unfortunate thing is that you cannot choose which design you will get, because it is completely random. That doesn't matter because all the designs are lovely! Each pencil case consists of one pocket and is a medium to large size.

For Boys - Try this Cars themed gift set which has everything you need for back to school including a well made pencil case, water bottle and school bag. It is more suited to younger boys than teenagers but there are a variety of others pencil cases to be found in your local stationery shop for older boys.

Ballpoint Pens

As a college or high school student, they probably want good pens to write with. Writing with bad quality pens is annoying and could lead to messy homework or assignments meaning poor grades. Good presentation is always one of the key elements that will give a better grade. Here is a review of two kinds of ballpoint pen that will guarantee quality every time.

The first is the Zebra Ballpoint Pen. This product is of a very high quality, the ink is vivid, doesn't smudge and is super smooth. It also has a grip integrated into the pen which is handy for younger children. You don't just have to buy this pen in black, you can buy it in red, green, blue, pink, purple and many more colours!

The second is the Paper Mate Profile range. These pens are smooth, perhaps smoother than the Zebra range. They are easy to write with and come in a variety of colours. They also have a grip and are a little thinner than the Zebra pen barrel.

Erasers and Rubbers

When doing mathematics or budgeting, a good quality rubber is always needed no matter what, for mistakes or other common errors. There are so many erasers out there, some are bad quality and some are of a very high quality. In this guide, you will find three kinds of rubbers which are the best on the market.

The first is the Staedtler Mars eraser. It has all the elements of a modern classic and is used by millions across the world. It is affordable and yet it is of a very high quality. It rubs everything off the page, leaving only the dent that the pencil made on the page. It isn't crumbly, that's a big bonus because nobody likes crumbly rubbers that dilapidate when you use them. On the other hand this eraser isn't too hard either, it's just in between. I'd stock up on these, you get 4 for $0.71? Now that's a great offer!

The second is a Hi-Polymer Block eraser by Pentel. Pentel are the complete scientists of the stationery world. They are always developing scientific solutions for improving their products. They are always developing unique, out of the box ideas and this eraser is one of them. This eraser isn't as popular as the Staedtler eraser but works amazingly and has to be a star product. It rubs out beautifully and slides so smoothly across the page. It rubs out pencil marks like fairy dust, because of its high polymer (plastic) content. It never leaves one crumb on the page, not one!

And finally, last but not least is another Pentel product which is a number one bestseller which sold out in thousands of shops. It is a new but effective idea. You'll be amazed at this one! It looks like a mechanical pencil, so when you push the top, new lead comes out so you don't need to sharpen the pencil. That principle applies to this one. You simply push the button on top and a fresh eraser will come out on the other end. Now that's new to me! A pack consists of three barrels, in three colours; red, blue and black. The eraser is just as good as the Hi-Polymer series and rubs everything out beautifully. Pentel has delivered, another star product. They are slightly a little more expensive than your standard eraser but are well worth the money.

A stapler is always handy to have, from stapling college essays to business documents to stapling a science assignment. What better stapler to own than a Swingline stapler? From the leading manufacturer in staplers, Swingline have created the ultimate stapler, sold at a good price.

This stapler is made from 50% recycled material, and is completely eco-friendly and caring to the environment. The edges are slightly curved and the plastic is coated with a special substance which repels odours, bacteria, the growth of micro-organisms and fungal growth.

I have found it very annoying when stapling multiple pages, that I couldn't staple more than a few pages at a time. With this stapler, I can staple up to 15 pages at once. Now that's handy! The stapler can also be used for tacking which makes this stapler a two in one. This is an essential for anyone in the college or office!

Paper Clips

If you aren't a stapling fan, or cannot use staples when handing in assignments, you can always try paper clips. Paper clips are always handy to have stashed away in any office, home or study room.

If you are a paper clip fan, try these Officemate paper clips. They are PVC free and are vibrant, coming in a huge array for colours including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink. They hold papers very well and are very strong.

Hi Crafty! Thank you for sharing your experience here and for your comments, always appreciated. Wow, I never knew that school supplies could be provided by the school, that is interesting. Here in Ireland, we have to buy all supplies, they aren't provided. That is a good idea though, that the school provides the supplies because buying them can be quite expensive. From pens to calculators, it all adds up!

We are very fortunate to live in a town that doesn't require students to buy their own supplies. I always buy school supplies at the beginning of the year. But it's in the budget for the school to provide the supplies to the students. My sister lives in another state and she has always had to shell out a lot of money every year for her child.
