Basic Number Concepts

When I think of the Basic Building Blocks of Numbers and Mathematics there are many concepts that come to mind

Digit, Integers, Natural or Counting Numbers, Consecutive Numbers, Even, Odd, Prime, Composite, etc.

These are all Basic Building Block of Mathematics

There are a few concepts that are also important an interesting concepts that you may not be aware of.

Triangular Numbers

You have probably heard of square numbers and possibly cube numbers. Triangular numbers lives in the same family.

A Triangular Number is a positive numbers that is the sum of consecutive integers.

Remember that consecutive numbers are numbers that are next to each other in couting order ex 1, 2, 3, 4, 1 & 2 are consecutive and so are 2 & 3.

The Triangular Pattern looks like this

1 = 1

1+2 = 3

1+2+3 = 6

1+2+3+4 = 10

Palindrome

A palindrome is a number that reads the same from right to the left as it does from the left to the right. It reads the same forward and backward. We often hear about palindromes as words but they can also be numbers.

Pandigital Number

A pandigital number is a number the contains each of the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 only once.

Notice that all pandigital numbers have exactly ten digits.
