Croatia's best islands

A beautiful, small country consists of many islands. You must visit the islands of Croatia. On your visit to Croatia, it would be meaningless to just visit Dubrovnik the old city and not visit the Islands.

The several gorgeous Islands have lots to offer during the summertime people practically live at the beach. The islands I visited in Croatia showed me the true meaning of a calm and enjoyable lifestyle.

Island of Korcula

Situated in the Adriatic Sea a trip on a boat to the destination gets many tourists.

Korcula is the most populated island and has many tourists each year.

During the season you would find many people on this island. I visited the island for a day and booked an apartment that felt amazing to be somewhere different and fascinating the history of Marco Polo.

I discovered that Marco Polo was born on the island of Korcula and that is the reason for so many curious minds visiting there.

They have traditional dancing and to entertain the tourists and small events for the day as well. I thought it strange to have a lost and found board in the centre of the Island.

Someone lost a belonging and I saw it pinned on the board for it to be found. That to me is strange because I know it doesn't happen in most places.

Overall, I had a lovely time on Korcula.

Pelješac

I visited Pelješac pronounced as Pelyeshats situated in the south of Dalmatia and a peninsula.

The local team planned a football match there and I decided to go on this trip. There were two women and the rest off-course were men. It didn't bother me because I wanted to have this experience.

It was amazing to have scenic views and hear the guys talking nonsense. A comfortable ride and on the island the people were friendly and welcoming to us.

I loved it there, it just felt different and relaxing to be around people who have not been off the island. These little experiences on the island made me feel welcomed and at home.

Lopud of the Elaphiti Islands

Lopud Island is close to Dubrovnik and the local people own boats and arrange these trips to three islands part of Elaphiti Islands

. A well-known Island for the sandy beaches and I enjoyed my time there.

On the boat, we had grilled fresh fish. A suntan and good company.

Kolocep is pronounced as Kolochep, and Sipan is pronounced as Shipan popular tourist destination.

Another big Island is also part of the Elaphiti Islands. Three islands in the Elaphiti Islands are well known for their beaches and small festivals.

Lokrum

The Island of Lokrum is a cursed island as many believe and I have heard weird stories of this island. People gossiped about the monks that were forced to leave this Island.

I visited a year ago to see for myself. It has many plants and a botanical garden it has, and I saw a monastery that is converted into a restaurant and a museum.

The monastery Is no longer deserted and saw that what was once an abandoned building has become a place that encourages people to visit the island.

The nature reserve has hundreds of plant species and most interesting to view and learn from this experience as I have.

Brac is pronounced as brach; this island is popular for the white stone that the White House was built and an interesting and true story of it.

The largest of three other islands on the Dalmatian coast. A well-known place in Croatia and a popular landmark in the United States of America Washington D.C.

These white stones were used for many constructions that include palaces, cathedrals and other structures of interest in Vienna. I am impressed by the use of white stone from Croatia and other structures around the world.

The beach is popular and the history it has.

A place of secrets and mysteries still to be explained by scientists. There are many stories told about all these islands and each keeps you wondering about the next story you are told by them.

The whole atmosphere is safe and friendly, and you won’t feel alone on these islands. During my stay in a new foreign place, I discovered many tourist destinations and had great experiences from these visits.

The people on each island are not as open-minded and most have not left the island. An itinerary I had the chance to explore and learn from through my journey living in Croatia.

On all-island trips, you need to dress casually and be comfortable. In your visits to the islands, you will often see caves and hear mysterious stories of these caves. People living on these islands are hospitable and love to see visitors from other parts of the world or from Dubrovnik.

Croatia is a tourist country and millions of people visit every season.

Mljet

Mljet has mostly southern to eastern Island and mostly Croatian people live on this Island as in the previously mentioned islands.

On these islands, the ferry is the means of transport. I did not spend a lot of time here. This island is big and accommodates many restaurants and coffee bars as others do as well. I did not long enough to enjoy much of the limited time we had.

I wanted to hear the different dialects and a few words that I did not understand as the local people spoke it didn’t interest me. You can spend a day on Mljet Island by ferry. This national park offers you biking, snorkelling and a clean swim in clean waters.

Historical sights and the boat ride views are spectacular.
