Field Trips for Homeschoolers: The Best Popular Places to Visit in the Chicagoland Area

Are you homeschooling your children in Illinois and would like to make field trips a part of your curriculum? There are plenty of places in the Chicagoland area. Also, homeschool groups may be able to get discounts. Field trips are a great educational and fun experience.

Brookfield Zoo is located in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield, IL. The cost is $17.85 for adults and children ages 3 - 11 is $12.50. Parking is $10.00. There are ways to save money by visiting your local library and getting a Museum Adventure Pass. The library offers one pass per household. One pass admits two adults for free.

The Lincoln Park Zoo is a free 35 acre zoo located in Chicago, IL. It is one of the oldest zoos in the US because it was founded in 1868. The only cost is parking.

The Shedd Aquarium is a popular Chicago attraction that features over 25,000 fish. Located on Chicago's Museum Campus, the aquarium is the world's largest indoor aquarium with more than 8,000 aquatic animals representing more than 700 species from all parts of the world. There are also many interactive exhibits. The cost of admission tickets depends on what you want to see. They do have group rates.

The Christkindl Market is held annually and is located in the Daley Plaza. Admission is free. The only cost is parking unless you take the train. This is a good addition for your German culture unit. The market provides a German food, drinks, and holiday entertainment.

Davinci exhibit is located in the Water Tower Place. They show Davinci machines. Your homeschool group may receive a discount is the book as a group. The cost for group bookings is $10.00 a student including adults, one admission is provided for every 20 students for teachers and chaperones. Oriental Institute is world renowned for its history, art, and archaeology of the ancient Near East. The exhibit displays objects from Oriental Institute excavations ancient Egypt, Nubia, Persia, Mesopotamia, Syria, Anatolia, and the ancient site of Megiddo. It is located at 1155 East 58th Street, Chicago, IL 60637. Admission is free.

The Spertus Museum exhibits focus on Jewish art and artifacts with educational and cultural activities. It is located at 610 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL

National Museum of Mexican Art is free art museum located in 1852 W 19th St, Chicago, IL 60608. Parking is free. The art exhibits explore Mexcican art and culture. Each art exhibit is colorful and unique. It is a perfect addition for your art curriculum. home to one of the country’s largest Mexican art collections, including more than 9,000 seminal pieces from ancient Mexico to the present.

Museum of Science and Industry is an excellent place to visit. Some interactive exhibits are the science storms, coal mine, transportation, tesla coil, and train. They also have omnimax movies. The cost of ticket packages depends on how many exhibits that you want to see.

The Field Museum’s current special exhibit is about tattoo artists and historical to modern tools that they use. People will get to see how a tattoo is made. This exhibit will run through April 30, 2017. There are plenty of other things to see as well. There are dinosaur exhibits, mummy exhibits, 3d movie events. Ticket costs will depend on the number of special exhibits you want to see.

The Adler Planetarium exhibits explore the solar systems, galaxies,and planets.
