Choosing Art As My Major

Updated on December 15, 2011

Doing What You Love

Doing what I love has been the goal of my life and my creativity and invention. Going to college to enhance my thus far 'self-taught' education has been a dream of mine. At 60 years of age, I am making it happen. I love to create. When it comes right down to it there is a 'creator' in all of us. I have been doing it all my life and now I am going to college and, learn more about the art world and the business of it.

If going back to college interests you give these questions a thought: What do you like to do, or read about, or learn about? What are your talents or gifts? Do you love doing them? What is the one thing that you do that you can't wait to get back to doing? If you want to start or go back to college in the autumn of your life, make sure it is to learn more about something that you truly love.

Life is precious and so is your time. Spend this time of your life being in joy by doing what you love. Joy is the key to being successful and happy and healthy. As 'Silver Citizens' , I swear I am going to come up with a wonderful title for us, we have much to offer. Those of us who missed going to college have a lot to learn also!

For most of us the world has gone from black and white TV to computers, cell phones and electronic mail. Yes, we have much to learn but we also have much to contribute. Find what you love to do and learn more about it. Learn how to upgrade and use your talents and abilities in this exciting time of our lives! There's a lot of life ahead and I, for one, am going to enjoy it and all the possibilites that a college education provides!

So give it some thought, but in the end remember that success comes from doing what you love!

Art On!
