December 2012, Logically

Updated on September 12, 2012

End of the World

As We Know It?
As We Know It? | Source

Especially this year there has been a lot of speculation as to what may happen on 21 December 2012.

This speculation has been caused by the fact that it was discovered that the end of the ancient Maya calendar ended on this date.

Some speculate that this could indicate the end of the world will happen then or at least the end of the world as we know it. Others speculate that this only indicates the end of their “cycle” of time; the same as the end of all our calendars are 31 December, but each year.

One of the reasons behind these speculations is the fact that the Maya seemed to have studied or at least had a knowledge of the stars that was far greater than any other civilization known to us. Therefore it is speculated that they may have foreseen a heavenly event that would take place and worked out the timing of this event in the future. Much like today, our scientists can foretell when an asteroid, if it is spotted, will pass close to earth and are able to calculate how close it will pass.

Added to this is the planet Nibiru. According to ancient Sumerian writings, this is a planet that although is in our solar system, has an orbit of the Sun that takes about three thousand six hundred years. The writings say that on one of the passes close to earth the Anunnaki, inhabitants of this planet, visited them. So some speculate that perhaps this planet, is due to come close to earth again in December 2012. If so, then that is not beyond reasoning that the Maya could have calculated this.

If so should this be of concern?

Of course, especially as, according to the Sumerians, on an earlier fly by it actually crashed into what was then earth, causing a large chunk to break away, the Moon.

Natural Disaster

Now there are some that refuse to believe in the existence of Nibiru but do still believe in a possible end to the earth. They speculate that the end could come to a more earth bound natural disaster, such as earthquake, volcano, hurricane or the like, not provoked by any space activity but perhaps to more local phenomena, such as global warming. To enhance this belief, they point to the apparent increase in these activities in recent years.

There is yet another group that believes the end will come due to the fact that our solar system, at that approximate time, will come directly in line with the center of our galaxy, with perhaps unknown effects such as the changing of the poles of the earth. Scientists though, do not believe that this alignment should have any radical effect on us or our planet.

Then, of course there are those that just believe that there will be a horrendous flood of biblical proportions for any of the above reasons because it is time God once again cleansed the earth from wickedness, as supposedly foretold in the Bible.

Nazi Bell

Time Travel?
Time Travel? | Source

Of course none of us can know for certain and we must go with what our “feelings” tell us.

More recently, with the discovery of the existence of the so called “God Particle”, it has been speculated that perhaps time travel will be possible in the future.

During WW11 it is known that German scientists were working on experiments with “The Bell’. These are experiments that it is believed had to do with time travel. This information was ascertained by workers on the project but the lead scientist and the bell were never found, leading to speculation that the scientist could have been successful and disappeared in to somewhere in time.

This speculation is not just without any sort of clues. In ancient India drawings were made of supposed vehicles that were shaped the same way as the bell and these were used by supposed aliens.

Roswell, the supposed sight of an alien landing could support this theory. At least one eye witness claims that the”alien” vehicle looked similar to the bell. As for the aliens, the so called grays, they seem almost exactly like university hypotheses of how we may evolve in the future, given our more reliance on the brain and less on the physical.

For the Maya to come up with such an exact date so far into the future is unlikely. Nibiru, on its travels of 3,600 years must have to pass through the asteroid belt, the Kuiper belt and any number of other possible means of disruption to its orbit that it is unlikely that its return could be calculated so precisely in advance. It is even more unlikely that the Maya were able to foresee a more earthbound natural disaster so far in advance.

We do however know the precise time of the Kennedy assassination. We know the precise time of 9/11 and we also know the precise time of hurricane Katrina, why?

We know these things because we actually witnessed them or saw or heard of them in the media. They are history and therefore we know them with certainty to be fact.

If anything is going to happen in December 2012, meaning that the Maya or someone else knew exactly of when an earth shattering event would occur, then it is only logical to assume that they had this certainty from having either witnessing it or learning of it, as with history: hence a traveler in time.

Now I am not saying that something will happen, I am merely suggesting that if something does it is more logical that it was told us by someone from our future rather than someone from the stars and so we should possibly look and prepare for what is more logically possible.

Obviously, a nuclear war has for some time now been a possibility, are our politicians leading us in the direction of nuclear warfare in December this year?

Scientist believe that Cumbre Vieja, a volcano on La Palma in the Canary Island chain, could on its next eruption, blow its western flank into the sea. If this happened it is estimated that the 500 cubic kilometer of rock that would fall into the sea would cause a tsunami 1000m high and still be up to 50m high on reaching the Caribbean and US eastern seaboard, 9 hours later. Would this change our world as we know it?

Scientists, according to a report published on September 9th in the journal “Nature Geoscience”, claim that the Greek volcano Santorini is building up immense pressure and is showing signs of imminent eruption. A previous eruption of this volcano was one of the largest known eruptions. Again, coincidently, 3600 years ago this volcano erupted and destroyed the Minoan Empire and it is speculated also wiped out Atlantis. Would this eruption change our world as we know it?

Once again, I am not claiming anything will happen but for those that believe, then shouldn’t they be asking their governments to try and prepare for something that we know could happen, rather than shrugging their shoulders and saying, “What can we do about it, we don’t know what the Maya meant”.

So, once again nothing may happen except for a lot of people attending “End of World” parties but if something world changing does happen, then those of us who are still around should seriously look at our views on time travel.

Do not forget, we do not have to find it next month or even next year but even if we find the ability to travel in time hundreds or even thousands of years from now, it would potentially give us the ability to travel back to today or even back to the time of the Maya, Sumerians or ancient India. We would therefore have to reconsider our views, not just of the future but also of our past.

Well, much food for thought. I appreciate your wealth of information on the topic and allows me and other readers to look further into the entire topic. There is a wonderful book called "The Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews. If you haven't read it, you will enjoy it. It is about time travel.

Thanks for a well-written and thoughtful hub. Hope to be reading hubs from you on December 22! Hope to be writing one, myself. And maybe each of us can make life different regardless of what the heavens have in mind.

Very Interesting and well done Hub! I like reading about time travel and the possibilities of it, I also believe it it will someday be possible, If it is not already.

As for the 2012 prophecies I would very much like to believe the version that says life as we know it will change, but for the better and a new age of enlightenment will begin.

You bring up some interesting ideas. So should time travel be the source of their knowledge of this day, did they travel in time, or was it outside visitors who provided this information? And if that were the case, do you think it is possible that they didn't so much travel in time, but merely existed in another state of time which moved in a "backward" direction to our own movements?

I am very interested in the Bell. I've seen it mentioned on the History Channel a few times, but I always forget to look it up. Same with the Nazi's use of the Occult.

I am actually going to be visiting Egypt during December of 2012. I'm so excited! We will be making a documentary about 2012, and what it means in Egyptian prophecy, and we will see from there what happens. I've been writing a series of Hubs on the process of making it all happen, but will be publishing more on 2012 lore around the world too.

I'm also encouraging people who might be interested in this project, the documentary, to get involved! There's always room for every one's help :)
