EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival ~ 2014

Updated on May 21, 2014

EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival

It is not a secret that Walt Disney World is a favorite of many thousands of people from around the world, and this is just one of the reasons that they are. Going on right now in EPCOT is the International Flower and Garden Festival. This festival started on March 5, 2014 and will run through May 18, 2014.

Here, the visitor will find a grand display of flowers, and gardens that will dazzle and impress as only Disney can. There is a vast array of topiaries, flowers, and gardens which the guest can walk through. In one area guests will find a beautiful butterfly garden, overflowing with flowers that attract butterflies, and let’s not forget about the butterflies!

Adults and children alike will love the beauty, fragrance, and creativity that are on display here. Topiaries of Disney characters are scattered all about the park and are done in great detail. As usual Disney has gone to great lengths to make this spectacular. Guests will find about 100 topiaries around EPCOT.

This festival is presented by HGTV, and guests will find a building dedicated to just that. It is here that one can ask questions, learn, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Guests will also be encouraged to try new dishes at the Outdoor Kitchen on the promenade. Many delightful recipes will be on display and available for tasting for a fee of course.

At the entrance to the festival guests will find topiaries of Goofy, Daisy and Donald Duck. They are on a butterfly hunt, and they are not having much success with it. This garden has a pond with water lilies and a real waterfall.

Take the time to check out Mike and Sully’s Monstrous Garden, this is a great area for adults and children, it is here one will find topiaries of Mickey, and Peter Pan.

If one enjoys music, concerts and the unusual they might like to stop and enjoy the Flower Power Concert Series. These entertainers play the music of the Guess Who, Village People, and many more.

Next don’t miss the Hummingbirds at Home, this is an exhibit that features a walk through a hummingbird garden. It is here that one will learn how to attract hummingbirds.

Mater of the Disney movie Cars is featuring a walk through that encourages children to look for “missing” car parts. This is an interactive garden that features Mater’s parts, beautiful plants and a play area.

As the sun makes ready to set on this beautiful scene don’t miss the illuminated gardens, this casts a luminous glow across the park as the sun sets every evening.

Guest should take their time, enjoy the beauty and taste the delicious recipes that have been added to the menus for this event. Everyone loves spring and here one can celebrate the coming of spring, explore and learn.

It is estimated that about 70,000 bedding plants have been added to the already exceptional landscape of EPCOT just around Future World alone. One will also notice the 220 mini gardens that are floating in the waters.

Join Disney in welcoming spring! In addition to the wonderful magic of the Walt Disney Parks, the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival should not be missed. Nothing will chase the winter blues away like this outstanding festival of color and natural beauty.

EPCOT

I love the Walt Disney Parks, my husband and I visit them at least once a year, but this is the first time that we have experienced the International Flower and Garden Festival.

The pictures that I have provided below do not do justice to the beauty, but I tried. I hope that you will enjoy looking at them.

International Flower and Garden Festival

These are just a few of the magnificent pictures that I captured while on vacation to Walt Disney World at the beginning of March 2014. I was in awe of the detail and beauty that these topiaries embodied.

My husband and I loved walking through the park and taking in all of the work that went into making this lovely pieces of artwork. In EPCOT each country sponsored some of its own such as Beauty and the Beast could be found in France, and Lady and the Tramp could be found in Italy.

Once again Walt Disney has outdone itself. If you ever get the chance you should visit this amazing display of flowers and gardens.

The pictures you see belong to me, they were taken between March 8 - 12, 2014.
