Words of Wisdom for Excellence

Strive for excellence, but don't forget wisdom
Strive for excellence, but don't forget wisdom

A step out of the trail, I just decided to write something that will spice up your day. A fulfilled life could mean different things to different people and how to attain or achieve a fulfilled life is another thing. So I believe every individual needs some dose of wisdom to achieve excellence in life although this wisdom as generally believed by Christian, comes from God.

Seven things I have tried in my life and has actually worked out for me in most situation are;

Doing an honest day’s work and it turned out to be rewarding most times,

Taking up difficult task and responsibilities and found them growing lighter.

Laughing when faced with difficulties, but then seeing them disappear.

Facing a really bad situation, only to watch them clearing all up by themselves.

Sometimes believing in fellow men, and saw them living up to expectation.

Telling the truth and it turned out to be the easiest way out.

Trusting God each day of my life, he keeps surprising me with his goodness and blessings.

So live so that at the end of the day you can beat your chest to say ‘a job well done’. If you want to be successful in life, you must need to be excellent in everything you do. And to be excellent you have to be truthful, honest, intelligent and wise. It is always important in life to have a role model and always remember people who have made a significant and positive impact in our life. For example, Pope Johnpaul II, Princess Diana, Mother Theresa, Dr. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Great Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (pictured above), Reverend Jesse Jackson, e.t.c. These people mentioned above during their life have been exceptional because they preached to us about excellence and they lived what they preached. It is very important to take a day at a time. Make a list of the day’s activities and in the order of preference write about what you want to do each time on a piece of paper. Tick off as you go along, so that at the end of the day you will feel satisfied to have achieved something that day. Wise people, who strive towards and are driven by excellence, do this all the time.

There are so many things in our day to day that we do and feel we have actually done or achieved something but we later realized that we need to do more. Here are some of the things we need to do more often;

Do more than talk, try to communicate

Do more than hear, be a good listener

Do more than think, be creative

Do more than spend, invest wisely

Do more than dream, visualize and act

Do more than wish, believe in it

Do more than encourage, be inspired and inspire others

Do more than see, be alert and perceive

Do more than forgive, forget

Do more than sing, always worship your God

Do you think that wisdom is important for excellence?

To be excellent in life one must be excellent in giving, in effort, in graciousness, in struggle and in strife. Mend a quarrel today. Search out for a forgotten friend. As I have already mentioned above dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. If you have offended someone and you ashamed to face the person, write a letter. Share some treasure and give a soft answer. Give back to the society by contributing something like encouraging the youth. Manifest your loyalty and dignity in a word or deed.

For one to attain excellence in life, one must also be wise. Try as much as possible to keep a promise when you make one. Create and find the time. One must learn how to forego a grudge and forgive an enemy. Listen, always learn how to apologize if you were wrong and never try to argue or shy away from it.

Learn how to better understand people

As much as possible try and understand people you are dealing with. But never flout envy or become jealous of others achievement but you can emulate them. Don’t be selfish, think first of someone else. Always appreciate and return gestures when necessary. Be kind, be gentle and laugh a little more.

Speak wisely and deserve confidence. Take up arms against malice. Do not be complacent over serious issues and if possible decry and avoid procrastination. When you are honoured for anything, express and show your gratitude. Keep your private matters private; be wise as not to announce them to the public! As it is said, “Home affairs are not talked about on the public square market”. Then on a daily basis just try and put a smile on someone’s face especially a child. Speak well rather than bad about people especially your neighbours because a good turn deserves another.

Be very sure to give all your best in every situation and circumstances so that you have no reason to judge yourself and create guilt and shame. Live so that at the end of each day, you can look back to say a job well done. That’s what it means to excel at the great game of living for yesterday, today, tomorrow and the future. Do things you really want to do. Do not wait for the circumstances to be exactly right because it might not and you will wait your entire life regretting. When your daemon says nothing, he usually means no. No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself because to be your own man is a hard business.Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune; but great minds that strive for excellence rise above them.

Do not worry out your body
Do not worry out your body

For me being excellent means putting in one’s personal best and living the rest to the Almighty Creator as you best varies on a daily basis. Take pleasure in the beauty things around and find time to appreciate the wonders of the earth.There is nothing that wastes the body like worries, and one who has faith in God should be ashamed of worrying about anything in life.

Love life and be grateful to God always for giving it to you. But show your gratitude by not shying away from its challenges and always try to live a little bit beyond your capacities.
