Thousands of Indian students apply to foreign universities each year to seek quality education and global exposure, or to pursue their careers abroad. Though students obtain loans from banks, the fees and associated expenses in studying abroad are too high. This is where scholarships help to a great extent. Indian Students typically spend between Rs 15- 30 lakh to study abroad, depending on the country and the college one opts for. In the US, studying in state universities will cost an international student between $25,000 and $35,000 per year, whereas studying in private institutions can cost as high as $60,000 per year for even undergraduate education. The United Kingdom (UK) has many scholarship programmes for Indian Students at their universities

Scholarships generally cover Tuition fees, Cost of Books and living expenses. Type and form of scholarship may across different countries. Scholarships could cover entire fees or only a part of it. Usually, foreign universities offer scholarships based on GPA (grade point average). Some see a combination of SAT/GPA scores. Apart from these, colleges may see your grades, Essay, extra curricular activities etc in your scholarship application. Oxford University offers scholarships to students with GPA of 3.5 -3.8. Generally, Indian students have relatively higher GPA and TOEFL scores compared to students from other countries. Hence, they have an advantage in securing scholarships.
