You Got a Problem.

My friend purchased a site in Bangalore and was thrilled to take a loan from any good bank as most of the banks were offering and advertising loan Melas in the city. His wife wouldn't allow him to relax which was another boost for his thrill. He was unaware of the chill that was awaiting him.

He got the required loan sanctioned but to his utter dismay he was asked to show proof of construction before he could touch those crisp notes of Rs.500 bundles,so was his wife. They soon caught hold of a building engineer who took measurements of his site and their dream house as they planned was ready. They told him to start the construction and supervision with reports required by the bank.

The next day lorry loads of all building materials were dumped on the site which was a feast for the eyes of his wife. She had one foot in her home and another at her future dream home site. She made some sand whiches to her kids to take it to their school, told her husband to take food in the company's canteen, informing him she would eat at 'Adigas' on her way to the site. She was surprized to see lot of tamil speaking men & women working and a old man with a towel tied on his head giving instructions to dig at several places and one spot at a particulor place kept vacant. She was about to ask the towel head why that place was vacant but stopped hearing the broom broom sound of a Hero Honda motor bike on which sat a pundit with a big bag accross his shoulder. As she was gazing at him he went past her with out even wishing her and emptied his bag and arranged things in front of a photo of Lord Vigneswara and having finished his preparation took his cell phone from the underware of his dhoti and was pressing the cell phone trying to call the person who was supposed to be their. The cell phone in my friend's wife's purse started ringing and the pundit could hear the ringing sound of a kannada film music very near to him.

The pundit gave a big smile at my friend's wife and told her in kannada that he was so and so sent by so and so.Soon it was the Foundation pooja that needed to be performed which was over. Her husband my friend had arrived by the time and soon the towel head gave my friend a clean turmaric and kukum with flowe at the handle decorated axe to dig the ground .My friend was able to finish the work in no time* and few stones were placed and the towel head was looking at my friend,s wife grinning ear to ear.My friend could make out that it was for the tip for the service and he was given generously as they were happy. Now the work was in full swing but little boring to my friend and his wife. They told the towel head that thy would come after meals and left the place.

They both came to 'Adigas' and were taking their lunch and the cell phone of my frind rang.It was the Civil Engineer who had called and told them that he was at the site and they could come the next day to take the report on work done. The civil engineer was worried as to what he would tell my friend what the towel head had reported.

It was the soft soil that was the problem*.

Oh okay. Did I miss that somewhere or is that info going to be in part 2? Thank you. I did not know that was what that stuff was. They often use it to make bridges stronger to correct??

Nice to learn. My last question for now, is that what the sheet is actually called- 'Geo-tech fabric'?Or does it have a more complex name to it?

      Dear BM,

If there is a soft soil the soil engineer will see how deep is the soft soil and make suitable changes by pouring the concrete mix on the Hard Soil that is present below the soft soil.A sheet of Geo-tech fabric is placed all around the place so that loose soil will not try to slip in to the concrete mix.The Geo-tech fabric only allows water and not soil to mix with fresh concrete till it hardens and by the time the concrete mix hardens the soil would block the water source and the soil will be getting hard and water source will find its way to another soft place automatically.

I will more in PART 2 of this Hub.
